Safe travels everyone...
Aug 3rd, 2011, 1:36pm

Looking forward to seeing you guys there! I know we're all arriving at different times, so hopefully we will run into each other at some point throughout the weekend.

By the way, there's a new rule. Last one there has to ask Dave Schultz if wrestling is fake.

Peace!

Greetings from room 634!  I'm still shaking from James driving through Midtown Atlanta.  Never bring a country girl to the big city.  We get a little nervous in 8 lanes of traffic going 80.

Glad to see you made it safely! I was gonna mention something on the board about Atlanta traffic earlier, but I figured it would just ruin the surprise.  LOL!

We had a nice trip to town and were at my brothers well ahead of any major traffic concerns. Just got through fixing dinner for everyone (thought this was a vacation lol) and now we are in the shoot the bull and spend time spoiling my nephew portion of the program. Just a heads up to those driving, GA State Patrol were out in force today. Be careful.

I'm dreading that traffic.  I'm from a rural area of east Tennessee, and though I've been to Baltimore and D.C., I've heard way more horror stories about Atlanta.

Is there generally a time when things are better than others?  I'm trying to figure out when I should try to get everyone on the road.

Hitting Atlanta traffic prior to 9am is futile. Also past 4pm is rough.

Great, with the way my friend's talking, we'll probably be rolling into town sometime around 5.  I have a feeling this could end up testing my panic disorder.

I don't know...if you've driven in D.C. you can handle Atlanta.  Just maintain your lane and high rate of speed and take no prisoners. You'll be fine.  Wink

Well, there wasn't much driving in D.C., and it was several years ago, but I still take some comfort from that.

As I mentioned, I have panic disorder, and one unfortunate consequence of it is that I always end up dreading and worrying about things more than I probably should.  Makes me wonder how I ever put on a suit, called myself "Playboy" Don Douglas and got enough heat with the local fans that one of their kids came up and kicked me in the shin.

Oh yeah, I remember - the same reason I've spent all this money and am making a trip to Atlanta that I'd never planned on making before - I love this stuff  Smiley

on our tryp from NC we saw 0 state troopers in NC and GA but we must have seen every one on duty in SC.

ATL traffic wasn't too bad until we got into ATL proper and everything turned into an 8 lane nascar race.  Didn't know I could hold my breath for that long.  Went to the hard rock with the Mrs last night and took the shuttle bus to the marta station and then walked around Atlanta,  Good way to travel and keep off the roads.

Lol yeah all the GA State Troopers were on I20 coming from Alabama.

Having lived in Atlanta back in the early 90's and a frequent visitor due to family and travel concerns, the traffic can be rough.

If there is 2 or more in the car, utilize the HOV lane as it helps drastically inside the parimeter.

Avoid the bypass I285 as your stress level will rise in proportion to the tim you're on it.

Merging is a personal challenge to your manhood.

This is also one of the places where people can zoom by you like you're standing still when you're going 85 mph.

Turn signals are apparently optional as they are rarely employed.

At times, it may seem like you're stuck in a NASCAR race, but you'll be fine.

Wasn't too bad coming in.  It was fairly congested, but the speeds were manageable, so it didn't get too intimidating.

Still, if I come back  here again, I think I'll just fly.
