For the first 20 years of his wrestling career, Dutch Mantell was one of wrestling's most entertaining figures with his larger-than-life Dirty Dutch character. With his trademark big hat and bullwhip accompanying him to the ring, fans knew that if things got out of hand, his bullwhip was right there to even the odds up. Dirty Dutch Mantell has confirmed his intentions to be with us in Charlotte for this August's NWA Wrestling Legends Fanfest Weekend! Mantell held Memphis' coveted Southern title five times, including defeating Jerry Lawler twice in a six-month period. He was also the Mid-America champ several times, battling the likes of Rick Rude, Randy Savage, Bobby Eaton, Austin Idol, Bill Dundee, Jesse Ventura, the Undertaker, and more. After his active days in the ring were over, he easily transitioned to booking and writing pro wrestling. Dirty Dutch Mantell is synonymous with not only great wrestling, but great talking and great writing. Mantell has written two books: The World According To Dutch and Tales From A Dirt Road, not only great looks back at the crazy, zany world of pro wrestling but a first-person snapshot of what the wrestling business was like in those days. The books tell, in a humorous way, how the territorial system worked and how it mostly ran and policed itself before the corporate world of the WWE took over the wrestling profession. Both books are a compilation of stories and events that have happened to or around Dutch, told as only a master storyteller can deliver. Both books will be available for purchase at fanfest. Known for his great stories and quick wit, when he gets to fanfest he'll be adding comedy to his resume! That's right! Dirty Dutch Mantell will bring his unique speaking style and crazy comedy to life with "An Evening With Dutch," a free-wheeling, fun-filled, late-night comedy and question-and-answer session -- guaranteed to be a highlight of the weekend -- on Thursday night, August 2, 2012. He'll bring a vault of untold and unheard stories to the fanfest stage, talk at length about his career, the places he's been, seen, done, not done, wanted to do and wants to do now. He'll touch on his personal recollections of working in the WWF, Mid-Atlantic, Florida, Continental, WCW, Vince McMahon, TNA, and much more. Dirty Dutch Mantell joins former Smoky Mountain Wrestling broadcast partner Bob Caudle, Rich Landrum, Magnum TA, Tully Blanchard, Denny Brown, Tommy Young, Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson of The Rock-n-Roll Express, Austin Idol, Johnny Powers, Angelo Mosca, Jerry Brisco, Thunderbolt Patterson, Les Thatcher and Mr. Wrestling II, a group of 16 featured guests confirmed thus far for this year's NWA Wrestling Legends Fanfest Weekend, which takes place Thursday through Sunday, August 2-5 in Charlotte, North Carolina. All will be signing autographs and posing for photos with fans, creating even more lasting memories of wrestling the way it used to be! Many more of wrestling's legendary heroes and villains will be added to the reunion's lineup over the next couple months.
