AWA Las Vegas International Wrestling taped at WGN TV in Chicago for broadcast on KVVU-TV Channel 5 in Las Vegas Saturday’s at 12noon.  
 
Gene Okerlund, standing infront of a backdrop of a night time picture of the Las Vegas Strip, welcomes everyone to the initial installment of Las Vegas International Wrestling and says fans will truly see the best stars from around the world. He says there will be a big card coming to the Dunes Hotel and Oasis Casino in Vegas on Sunday August 5th with the AWA World Heavyweight Champion Wahoo McDaniel facing the challenge of number one challenger, International Champion Nick Bockwinkel.  
 
With that out comes, World Champion Wahoo McDaniel. Wahoo says Bockwinkel might be the most dangerous wrestler in the world, being that he is a former champion and is hungry for the power and money that comes with being THE World Champion! Wahoo says he has faced the toughest men in the world and Bockwinkel will fall with the rest of them.  
 
Nick Bockwinkel comes out and tells McDaniel he isn’t the kind of man who should be considered a world champion because he hasn’t beaten anyone. He tells Wahoo, the Native American star should feel right at home in Vegas with all the casinos around for him to lose his money.  
 
It’s all Wahoo can do not to smack the taste out of his adversary’s mouth, but The Chief remains cool and tells Bockwinkel he has faced all contenders for his belt which is something the International Champion hasn’t found the courage to do.  
 
Now it’s Bockwinkel who takes a deep breathe to compose himself. Wahoo tells Bockwinkel to bring his best on the Fifth because he is in for a war. With that Wahoo walks off.  
 
Bockwinkel says Wahoo will not be able to last 10 minutes with him and he will be the new World Heavyweight Champion.  
 
 
MATCH 1 – BRUISER BRODY def The MASKED BRUTE at 4:01 in a brutal match which saw Brody dominate his masked muscular opponent.  
 
 
 
“HOOT HOOT  HOOT HOOT!!!” Brody shouts as the fans start to cheer and Hoot along with him.  
 
Okerlund tries to interview him but the HOOTS get in the way.  
 
Okerlund does get one question in, “Bruiser, if I may, what brings you to Las Vegas?”  
 
“Action, Fighting, Fighting for America, Gene Okerlund! And Siegfried and Roy!!!!" Then Brody, obviously horsing around, leans over to Gene Okerlund and HOOTS!. Gene, lets a smirk show, but otherwise maintains his composure.  
 
“I’m off to find some fishsticks!!!” Brody says as Gene throws it to break!

Gene Okerlund plays a tape of the double disqualification between Sheik Adnan El Kaissee and Sheik Arman Hussein when they faced Bob Backlund and Jim Brunzell in the Number One Contender’s tournament. After the tape, Sheik Adnan comes out with Hussein.  
 
Adnan says he has a big surprise for “that thief, Robber Backlund and Chipmunk Brunzell!”
He then brings out Abdullah the Butcher and The Sheik. Adnan says they are a united force and will destroy Backlund and Brunzell and any other ugly American who gets in their way.  
 
“Me, Sheik Adnan, Sheik Hussein, Sheik Abdullah, and Sheik The Sheik, together we are The United States of Sheik!”  
 
Okerlund: “The United States of what”, Shee…”
 
Adnan: “Don’t get funny with me, Mr. TV Man, We have camels in the back that need cleaning and your bald head could be a perfect fit for…”  
 
Sheik The Sheik: “Addddaaabbbbbuuuuuuddddaaaaaaaaa”
 
Okerlund: “Well Sheik Hussein here has a match next with no other than Jerry Lawler.”  
 
Adnan: “We do not like this Jerry Lawler. Sheik Abdullah and Sheik The Sheik, have told me about how he cheats worse than any American wrestler, aside from Backlund and Brunzell. We we still out here to make sure there is no funny business going on.!”
 
Okerlund assures them and the audience there is nothing funny about the United States of Sheik before throwing it to the ring.  
 
MATCH 2 – JERRY LAWLER def SHEIK ARMAN HUSSEIN by dq in 6:22 when Adnan, The Sheik and Abdullah the Butcher interfere and attack Lawler 4 on 1. Things look bad until USA Champion Bob Backlund and Jim Brunzell hit the ring and now it’s a 4 on 2 as Lawler struggles to get to his feet. Backlund and Brunzell have only a momentary advantage in the surprise attack until the numbers do them in.  
 
HOOT HOOT HOOT HOOT !!!!
 
The crowd goes crazy as Bruiser Brody hits the ring swinging a chain. The United States of Sheik split the scene fast as everyone looks surprised. With Brody still hooting and swinging the chain, Brunzell, Backlund and Lawler split the ring as well.
 
Backlund, Brunzell and Lawler head over to Okerlund. Lawler says while he knows he has issues to take care of with Bockwinkel, he says anytime “Bobby and Jimmy need my help, I will be more than happy to fight those kooks.”  
Okerlund: “Speaking of kooks, look out!”  
“HOOT HOOT HOOT HOOT !!!!”
 
Brody comes over to the fan favorites.  
“YOU KNOW WHAT I WAS THINKING?” Brody yells into the microphone.  
 
Lawler: “Is this a trick question?”
Okerlund: “Oh God! My first show and now we are gonna get thrown off the air!”
 
Brody continues without missing a beat.  
“I WAS THINKING THERE ARE FOUR OF THEM AND THERE ARE FOUR OF US! WHY DON’T WE GET THEM IN THE RING AUGUST 5TH!!!"
 
 
Okerlund looks relieved.
 
Backlund: “That’s a great Idea, Jimmy, you in?”
Brunzell: “I am!”  
Lawler: “Me too, I think it’ll be a Hoot!”
 
Okerlund tries not to laugh.  
 
“HOOOOOOOOO-S-A!!!!!  HOOOOOOOOOOOOO-S-A!!!!” Brody repeats as the four leave the set and Okerlund throws it to break.

Okerlund is joined by the USA Tag Team Champions, Adrian Adonis and Jesse Ventura and American Television Champion, Larry Zbyszko. Adonis then introduces the genius behind all of this gold, Johnny Valiant. Valiant says Las Vegas is witnessing the most successful wrestling endeavor in the history of the sport, “The Valiant Family”!
 
Ventura says The Giant Baba and Antonio Inoki have gotten their wish, they get a rematch against them August 5th. Ventura says the result will be the same except this time it’s a title unification match.
 
Okerlund interrupts saying Inoki and Baba are the Pacific Rim and International Tag Team Champions having beaten Siva Afi and Jimmy Snuka in Singapore this past weekend. Okerlund adds the team’s International Tag Team Titles will be on the line against Adonis and Ventura’s USA Tag Titles.  
 
Adonis says it doesn’t because they are on “a gold quest”, and those two are next in line.  
 
Zbyszko says he will be a fighting American Television Champion. He says he is glad to be rid of Steve Regal. He adds he and Valiant gave Regal every opportunity to pick up his game and be part of the “Family” but he couldn’t handle the pressure. Larry says he will show the world August 5th that Regal is no match for him.  
 
 
 
MATCH 3 – American TV Title: LARRY ZBYSZKO © def WHIPPER PHIL WATSON in 7:45.
 
 
 
International and Pacific Rim Tag Team Champions, Antonio Inoki and The Giant Baba come out. Inoki, through broken English tells Okerlund, they will beat Adonis and Ventura and give the United States a tag team they can be proud of.

Okerlund says Las Vegas will be seeing this next person in the near future then throws it to a VTR or Austin Idol.
 
“Whoa Dallin’, will you take a look at this? Idolmania coming to Las Vegas, baby. You know, I am looking forward to showing my hometown what a real man looks like. So many people need the Idoleducation! I am telling ya, no title is safe, no wrestler is safe and no pretty lady is safe when I hit Vegas, Baby!”  
 
Okerlund is joined by Mil Mascaras. Okerlund and Mil agree that Idol seems like quite a character. Mascaras says he is looking forward to challenging Pacific Rim Heavyweight Champion, Jumbo Tsuruta. He says he is confident he will be the next champion though he adds Tsuruta is tough and his manager Mr. Fuji is dangerous.  
 
Before the next match, Mascaras and the man in the ring have words for on another in Spanish. Only words as neither engage the other to take it a step further.  
 
 
MATCH 4 – EL HALCON def SUPERFLY TUI in 9:22 in an extremely even back and forth match.  
 
 
AWA World Junior Heavyweight The Dynamite Kid comes out and says he is looking forward to defending his title against Halcon August 5th. Halcon comes over and starts fussing at Kid in Spanish. Gene nor Kid know what he is saying, but when he smacks The Kid in the mouth. The Kid grabs him. Halcon escapes and runs off set. Kid says Halcon will pay for that when they meet August 5th.  
 
 
 
BREAK 4 ==============000=====================
 
 
 
Mr. Fuji and Jumbo Tsuruta come out. Tsuruta holds his Pacific Rim Title, while Fuji does the talking. Fuji says not only will Tsuruta defeat Mascaras but will injure him and rip his mask off!
 
The Ragin Bull Manny Fernandez follows the Japanese duo. He starts bragging about having beaten the greatness out of Hulk Hogan and having him carried out on a stretcher. Fernandez then demands the tape be shown. Okerlund throws it to the VTR of Fernandez vs Hogan from a few weeks ago.  
 
As Hogan was getting to his knees, Fernandez leaped from the ring apron driving a knee into the back of the Hulkster. Hogan was stunned, but Manny continued the attack, grabbing a chair at ringside and bashing it over his opponent’s head. This sent Hulk to the floor unconscious and prone to the rage of Fernandez. Manny pounded on Hogan as the crowd became riotous and police held them back.  
 
Then the place exploded as Andre the Giant came down towards ringside. Having trouble getting through the crowd, The Giant was angry as he moved forward.  
 
Manny didn’t see Andre until the big man was right up on him. Fernandez was able to scoot away before could get ahold of him. But Andre pointed his finger at an obviously worried Fernandez, who said nothing as police escorted his retreat. Hogan had to be carried out on a stretcher.
 
As Fernandez is calling it one of the greatest moments of his life, he is confronted.  
 
Andre the Giant comes out and tells Fernandez he is nothing but a bully and he doesn’t like bullies.  
Manny starts to sulk away, keeping his eyes on Andre who is berating him and pointing his big finger at him.  
Manny tells Andre to watch him in the ring, and he’ll give him a chance to back out of their match on August 5th.  
 
 
MATCH 5 – MANNY FERNANDEZ def BARRY HART in 5:01 in a match where Fernandez brutalized Hart.  
 
 
When Fernandez attacked Hart after the match, Andre told Okerlund, “Time for words are over!” and proceeded to the ring. Fernandez threw Hart out of the ring and he and Andre went at each other. Andre delivered two big right hands and Fernandez took a hike.  
 
The show ends with a shot of Andre in the ring raising his hand in the air as the fans go crazy!
