"Portland Wrestling", 9/29/82
Sep 27th, 2012, 6:58pm

“Portland Wrestling”
Sports Arena
9/29/82

Don Coss and Dutch Savage are in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “Welcome to the ‘House of Action’! If Lonnie Mayne were around, he we say, ‘There’s excitement in the Air!’ We have a lot going on tonight and you don’t want to hear me talk, so let’s get things started with…the World Champion…’The American Dream’…Dusty Rhodes!”

Rhodes joins Coss and Savage.

Coss, “Ladies and Gentlemen, ‘The American Dream’!”

Rhodes, “Don Coss, Dutch Savage, I’m so happy to be in Portland! Dutch Savage, we had some battles in our day, and I always respected you! Now I face Rip Oliver.  I could make fun of him and talk about beating him Florida, like I did, but he’s a Champion. I can’t take him for granted, but I know one thing, I didn’t come to the beautiful Northwest to lose this title, and it ain’t happening on Tuesday night!”

Savage, “Dusty’s right. He and I had some battles in our day, and there is no one tougher than him. Now Dusty, Oliver is good, but he also has Rose, Wiskoski and someone else behind him. You might be outnumbered.”

Rhodes, “Dutch, the Dream is never outnumbered because he has the fans behind him. I told you, I didn’t come here to lose the title!”

Coss, “I think the Dream is ready. Let’s see him in action.”

Match #1
Non-Title Match
Dusty Rhodes (NWA World Champion) def. Ron McFarlane, w/bionic elbow

Buddy Rose, Rip Oliver and Ed Wiskoski are in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “Mr. Rose, you said your Army would have a new member tonight, where is he?”

Rose, “Patience Coss, he’s here and when we are ready to reveal him we will.”

Coss, “O.K. Let’s talk with Ed Wiskoski first. Mr. Wiskoski, you meet Stan Stasiak in tonight’s main event. The Crusher is a former World Champion and he and young Billy Jack would like a shot at you and Buddy Rose. Tonight will be a stiff test.”

Wiskoski, “After tonight Stasiak will be in no shape to challenge anyone. Billy Jack will be on his own and Buddy and I will finish him off. We own the Northwest and Stasiak is going to learn that the hard way.”

Coss, “Alright now on to Mr. Oliver, you heard Dusty Rhodes earlier. He seems ready to take you on Tuesday.”

Oliver, “Fat old Rhodes can run his mouth, but I’ll beat him on Tuesday and then the World Title will be around my waist and I’ll keep if as long as I want!”

Rose, “Coss, this interview is over. Our new man is in the ring.”

Match #2
“Kangaroo” Bob Heffernan w/Buddy Rose def. El Bracero, w/Boomerang

Stan Stasiak and Billy Jack are in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “Gentlemen, you saw Rose’s man, the Bob Heffernan. He’s well known and he makes the Army very formidable.”

Stasiak, “Don, we all know the Heffernan is good. He comes from a wrestling family and heis know all over the world?”

Savage, “O. K. Crusher, where’s your third man?”

Stasiak, “We’re not quite ready to reveal him yet.”

Coss, “I hope you know what you’re doing. Rose has his army and it looks formidable.”

Stasiak, “We do know what we are doing.”

Savage, “I really hope so.”

Match #3
Billy Jack w/Stan Stasiak def. Doug Somers, w/Full Nelson

Matt Borne and Steve Pardee are in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “With us are Matt Borne and Steve Pardee. Gentlemen, you and the Davidson Brothers went to the limit last week and nothing was decided. Now a rematch has been signed for the ‘Portland Special’. It will be a brawl, I’m sure.”

Pardee, “We know how tough those two are. Wrestling is going to go out the window. It’s going to be a fight.”

Bourne, “Those two don’t wrestle. Steve and I tried to beat them with wrestling and that didn’t work, this time we are going to fight fire with fire.”

Coss, “Fans, there are still a few tickets available for the ‘Portland Special’. They will on sale at Sandy Barr’s Flea market tomorrow, beginning at 8:00 AM. They won’t last long, so get there early. When we return, Matt and Steve will be in action.”

Match #4
Matt Bourne and Steve Pardee def. Buck Ramstead and Caveman Broda, Pardee w/High Crossbody vs. Broda

Coss, “Our main event is next.”

Main Event, Two out of Three Falls
Ed Wiskoski w/Buddy Rose vs. Stan Stasiak

First Fall-
Two big veterans so battle in this one. Once again, you have to keep an eye on Rose at ringside. The bell rings and they lock up. The match is very even until Wiskoski takes Stasiak down close to the ropes. He goes for the cover and Rose reaches in and holds onto Stan’s leg. Referee doesn’t see it and counts the fall.
Winner-Ed Wiskoski

Rocky Della Serra is with Coss and Savage in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “Welcome back Rocky, You have been impressive in your first few weeks in the Northwest.”

Della Serra, “Thank you Mr. Coss. People told me the competition was good out here and they were right. I’ve had tough matches every night.”

Savage, “But you’ve been successful. You are one of the top young stars I’ve seen in a while.”

Della Serra, “That’s means a lot coming form you Mr. Savage.”

Coss, “Let’s talk about Tuesday night. You will be in your first ‘Portland Special”. You face the veteran Doug Somers.”

Della Serra, “It’s going to be a learning experience for me, but I trust my abilities, and I plan on winning.”

Coss, “I, for one, want to see that match. Now let’s go back to our main event and see if Stan Stasiak can even things up.”

Second Fall-Stasiak comes out a house afire. He pounds away at Wiskoski and the “Polish Prince” is on the defensive, he tries to rally, but Stasiak uses the heartpunch for the win.
Winner-Stan Stasiak

Coss and Savage are in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “The veteran, Crusher Stasiak, rallies and evens the match.”

Savage, “You can’t count Stan out. He’s been around and seen it all. Rose and Wiskoski thought they outsmarted him, but not yet.”

Coss, “Action like this is what you will see on Tuesday as Don Owen presents another ‘Portland Special’. Here’s the rundown of the card.

Bobo Brazil vs. The Magnificent Zulu

Rocky Della Serra vs. Doug Somers

Matt Bourne and Steve Pardee vs. The Davidson Brothers

Stan Stasiak, Billy Jack and ? vs. Buddy Rose, Ed Wiskoski and ‘Kangaroo’ Bob Heffernan

For the NWA World Title
Dusty Rhodes (Champion) vs. Rip Oliver

What a night of wrestling. Now let me take a minute to talk about next week’s ‘Portland Wrestling’ program. Our main event will feature a rematch between Bobo Brazil and Rip Oliver. Bobo Came close to beating Rip two weeks ago, and he just might do it this time. Here’s the exciting part, it will be a title match. If Oliver does not beat Dusty Rhodes, it will be a Northwest Title match, if he beats Dusty, it will be a NWA World Title match. You don’t want to miss that one!  I just hope Billy and Stan know what they are doing and they do have a third man. Now let’s go back to our third fall.”

Third Fall-This is a complete brawl. A few minutes in Stasiak is able to catch Wiskoski with an inside cradle. Sandy Barr counts 1…2…3! Stan Stasiak pins Ed Wiskoski!
Winner-Stan Stasiak

Buddy Rose, Rip Oliver and Bob Heffernan come to ringside. Rose takes the mike.

Rose, “Stasiak, you think it’s important that you won toinight. Think again. Wiskoski didn’t even try. Once we found out you didn’t have a third man, we decided to wait until Tuesday night to beat you and Billy Jerk senseless, not that it would hard.”

Billy Jack comes to the ring and joins Stasiak. Stan asks for the mike.

Stasiak, “Rose, you always think you’re one step ahead of everyone. You think you’re so smart. We do have a third man and he’s in the Crow’s Nest.”

The camera turns to the Crow’s Nest and standing with Coss and Savage is…

JIMMY “SUPERFLY” SNUKA!

The program ends with looks of shock and horror on the faces of Rose and his Army.

Well, surprise, surprise! I can't wait to see how Snuka fits back home in Portland. Heffernan and Della Serra will do you well. Great match and promo form the champ.

Another good tv show, and things are set up nicely for the Portland Special.  Look forward to reading your stuff every week Tom.

You've got a lot of great talent here already, and I look forward to seeing where things go after the Special.

Thanks for not making me check which Heffernan is WHAT Della Serra!  Great show, I DO like being reminded of the 2 of 3 fall ME's!  Snuka should rock here or is it rock AGAIN (?).  Good card being set, well done job there.

You have a ton of guys who do "meat and potatoes" type promos.  Maybe The Playboy can be more whiny & wheedling?

Really realistic feel, TL.
