SWCW#15:  Southwest TV 10-06-82
Oct 5th, 2012, 9:27pm

Southwest Championship Wrestling Television
Taped Wednesday Oct. 3, 1982
Broadcast on Saturday Oct. 6, 1982
Taped at The Junction in San Antonio TX
Sanctioned by the AWA

Interviews on this show:

- Tiger Conway Jr & Thunderbolt Patterson talk about teaming up to challenge the Fabulous Blondes for the Southwest Tag Team Titles, and about how they are both entered in the Brass Knux Tournament coming up.

- Big John Studd w/ Fred Blassie talk about what a travesty it is that Blackjack Mulligan got to name the stipulation of their last match, and stole the Southwest belt.  Studd issues a challenge to Mulligan to face him in a match of his choosing....a match where you win if you are the first man to utilize your signature hold.....his bodyslam vs. Mulligan's lariat.  Next Sunday night at Freeman Coliseum if Mulligan has the.....guts.

- Steve Stack hosted a taped interview from Jerry "The King" Lawler in Memphis TN, where he assures all the great fans here in the Southwest that there is only one true king of wrestling, and that's Lawler.  He said Carl Fergie is a joke, and the fans don't need to take him seriously.

- "King" Carl Fergie calls Lawler a liar and a cheap imitation.  Fergie claims to be the real royalty "in all of rasslin' daddy!"  He says that he is going to take his royal chariot to Memphis TN and teach that peon Lawler a lesson.

- Blackjack Mulligan thanks the fans for being behind him, and accepts Studd's challenge to put his lariat against Studd's bodyslam.  He then said that he may even slap his claw on Studd just for fun.  Next Sunday night in San Antonio it's on.

- Eddie Mansfield runs down a long list of excuses as to why he lost to Tully Blanchard last Sunday, but the real fact is because that no good Joe Blanchard put his hands on him.  He said he is sick of being double teamed by those no good Texans, so he has a plan to counter act old man Joe next time.  He issues a challenge for Tully to face him here on tv next week.

- Manager Rock Riddle introduces Rip Rogers as the new "Mr. Wonderful" since Wendall Cooley is afraid of winning.  He claims that Rip will dominate wrestling, and is now entered into the Brass Knux tourney as well.

- The Spoiler gloated about his recent victories, but then turned serious and sent out an ominus warning to Blackjack Mulligan that he will not stand for Mulligan stealing his patented hold, the claw.  He promised Blackjack that consequences will come about if he continues to use the hold.

- AWA Newscenter w/ Gene Okerlund
Gene introduced a video of Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers who are on their way here to Southwest Wrestling.
The Fantastics then did a taped interview where they talked about how excited they are to be coming to Texas....and they'll be here wrestling on tv next week!
Gene ran down the field so far for the Brass Knux Tournament:  Big John Studd, Bruiser Brody, Abdullah the Butcher, Thunderbolt Patterson, Tiger Conway Jr., Al Madril, Rip Rogers, Kendo Nagasaki, "Wildman" McKigney

Matches on this show:

- Thunderbolt Patterson & Tiger Conway Jr def. Joel Deaton & Dennis Stamp when they pinned Stamp with a double clothesline.

- "Wildman" McKigney stormed the ring and made quick work of Swede Hansen, pinning him following a running avalanche splash in the corner.

- The Spoiler put Tony Zane's lights out with his claw hold.

- Blackjack Mulligan successfully defended the Southwest title over Barry Horowitz with his lariat.

- Tully Blanchard def. Killer Karl Krupp by DQ when Eddie Mansfield ran in and attacked Tully.  He put the boots to him briefly until Joe Blanchard and several officials and wrestlers came to make the save.  After the match, an aggitated Tully accepted Mansfield's challenge for next week here on tv!

Next Week:  Tully Blanchard vs. Eddie Mansfield in the main event, The Fantastics make their Southwest debut, Big John Studd in action, plus much, much more!

30 Minute Sunday Edition of Southwest Championship Wrestling

- Kendo Nagasaki pinned Bobo Brazil Jr with a thrust kick.

- The highlight video was shown of The Fantastics

- The Super Astro Invaders I & II def. Ricky Rickard and Billy Francis with a rocket launcher type move.

- Some hype for the Brass Knuckles tournament on Oct. 28

- Jose Lothario pinned Pat Rose with a rolling cradle hold.

- Lothario promises the fans more victories to come!

Next Week on the 30 Minute Edition:  Kendo Nagasaki vs. Al Maril in the main event, plus Hector & Mando Guerrero in action, and more!

Editors Note:  The Super Astro Invaders is now the official gimmick of Tommy Lane & Mike Davis.  Lane and Davis impressed SWCW officials in two untelevised matches where they competed as Fire & Flame, The Infernos.

Hope these Invaders do well. Rogers, as Mr. Wonderful, could be dangerous for all of SWCW. Impressive shot by Lawler. Liking the team of Conway and Patterson. I wonder what Mansfield has in mind for Tully. Interesting that Blanchard's claw wasn't mentioned in the finisher match.

Great stuff.

Again, really like the style you use.  I love writing out a promo in full but you are really productive with condensed "gist of it" versions but still did a nice job with a longer one like Lawler.

You do a great job putting a connected flow to your shows, the new developments are well-balanced with the on-going material - it can be hard to hype a feud or upcoming event without it feeling a bit stale.  You keep a good touch on things.

Like the "ed note", a fun insight and a good twist for a team to keep them fresh as well.

You're just a "fresh" guy, I guess!  Also, the mini-edition is a productive, clever twist to add to what can't get fit in the main show AND I'm keen on any "control center" type package such as we have from the GREAT Okerlund.
