REUNION ARENA
DALLAS, TEXAS 1. Butcher Vachon & “Golden Boy’ Chick Donovan square off with Barry O & Salvatore Bellomo in the opener. Barry and Sal dominate the early going, but Bellomo goe for one dropkick too many and this mistake leads to Vachon pinning th Italian grappler at the 9:57 mark.
2. Moondogs Spot & Rex (w/Ox Baker) square off with Johnny Rich & Lars Anderson. Rich nearly pins Rex after a running elbow and Lars manages to get Rex in the stepover arm bar, but can’t get the submission. In the end, the Moodogd get the win as Rex pins Anderson after hitting him with his bone as Baker distracts the referee. Time of the fall: 10:01
3. The next bout is a bunkhouse match between former friends Scott Casey and Kevin Von Erich.Both men are dressed in jeans, T shirt and have theirfists taped. The main difference is that Casey wears cowboy boots while Von Erich is barefoot. This is more of a barroom brawl than a wrestling match. When Kevin applies the claw and Casey gets to the ropes, referee Bronko Lubich does not attempt to break the hold.The claw busts Casey’s forehead open and from there, it’s all Von Erich! Terry Funk attempts to interfere by tossing a chair into the ring, but Kevin grabs it and flattens Casey with it! Kevin then hits a splash for the win at the 11:57 mark!
4. Kerry Von Erich defends the Texas Title against Terry Funk in the next bout. Early on, Kerry uses his awesome strength to overpower Funk and throw him around the ring as the Dallas crowd roars its approval. When Kerryb applies the stomach claw in the center of thr ring, it looks like it’s all over. However, Dory Funk, Jr. comes to the ring, climbs on the apron and distracts Kerry. Kerry goes over and knocks Dory to the floor with the discus punch, giving Terry time to get to his feet. Terry nails Kerry with a knee to the back and then applies the spinning toehold. Kerrry will not submit! Fritz Von Erich comes to ringside and yells for Kerry to escape the hold. Finally, fearing his son will be injured, Fritz throws in the towel on Kerry’s behalf and
Terry Funk is the new Texas Champion!
5. Bad Pez Whatley & “The King Of Men” Ernie Ladd(w/Lord Alfred Hays) take on Iceman Parsons and Carlos Colon. Carlos and Iceman dominate the action for most of the match. The match ends at the 9:47 mark when Hays passes something to Ladd that Ernie uses to load his taped thumb. Moments later, Ladd thumbs Parsons in the throat, leading to Whatley pinning the Iceman!!!
6. Moondog King takes on Killer Tim Brooks in dog collar chain match in one of the most brutal bouts ever seen in Dallas. Brooks get the pin at the 13:03 mark when Ox Baker comes to ringside and tosses King’s bone into the ring. Brooks gets the bone and KOs the big Moondog with it and makes the cover for the pin!
7. In no time .limit match to determine the top contender for Chavo Guerrero’s NWA World Junior Heavyweight Title, Chris Adams takes on Tatsumi Fujinami. This is an action packed, closely fought contest. At around the 20 minute mark, Adams hits a flying bodypress on Fujinami to score the pin and move into the #1 contender’s spot! The Von Erichs, Salvatore Bellomo, and Iceman hit the ring to congratulate the Englishman who insists on shaking Fujinami’s hand and bowing in respect.
8. Gino Hernandez & Jimmy Garvin defend the NWA World Tag Team Titles against Texas tag titlists,The Fabulous Ones. Both teams strut to the ring with music blaring. The advantage swings back and forth with both teams scoring several near falls. Garvin goes for a brainbuster on lane, but Stan escapes and goes behind jimmy to hit a Geerman suplex. The ref is distracted by Gino and Keirn fighting and misses a sure three count! As the ref puts Steve out of the ring, Gino pulls out a pair of brass knuckles! Stan gets up and savate kicks Gino and the knucks go flying! Stan grabs th brass knucks and flattens Gino with them! Stan covers Gino One…two…three!!!! We HAVE NEW CHAMPS!NO! As the ref raises Stan’s hand, he sees the knucks! Noooo! The ref is DQing th Fabs and giving the belts back to Gino & Jimmy! The Reunion Arena crowd is about to riot! Gino Hernandez & Jimmy Garvin retain the NWA World Tag Team Titles in a massively controversial decision!
9. Randy Savage defends the American Title against Stan Hansen. This is all out war and these two wildmen battle in and out of the ring! Finally, after 22 minutes of bloody, brutal action, Hansen lays the Macho Man out with a lariat to score the clean pin and take the title! The fans are stunned as the Funks come in to celebrate with the “bad man from Borger”! The Double Cross Gang now has the top two singles titles in World Class!
10. The Funks and Scott Casey come to the ring, carrying the International Six man trophy high and proud. The music hits and Fritz Von Erich leads Kerry, Kevin, and David to the ring for this elimination title bout. Kerry, still feeling the effects of the spinning toehold is limping badly. Fritz announces that Kerry is in no shape to wrestle. Terry Funk taunts Kerry and gets a discus punch for his trouble. At first, Kerry argues with his dad, but finally defers to parental authority and leaves the arena.
With the Von Erichs starting at disadvantage, Kevin and David fight like caged animals against the Double Cross gang as Fritz cheers from ringside! Kevin goes for an aerial move on Casey and winds up mistiming it, then goes flying out of the ring and bangs his head on a ringside table. This leads to a Terry Funk piledriver and pin. Kevin has been eliminated, leaving David against all three opponents!
David doesn’t seem bothered by the huge odds against him and within two minutes of Kevin’s elimination, he has hit a huge belly to back suplex on Dory and applied Funk’s own finisher, the spinning toehold on the former World Champ! Dory submits and the odds are now 2 to 1 against David!
Casey and Terry Funk use double teams and illegal tactics to gain the advantage on David, who is soon a bloody mess. David comes back and is able to pin Casey with the iron claw!
The odds are even now and Terry Funk goes to work on David’s long legs. Soon, Funk has applied the spinning toehols on David! David is in big trouble….NO! David reaches up and applies the claw to Funk’s head! Funk releases his hold as David gets to his feet and brings Terry to his knees with the power of the claw! Funk gives up! THE VON ERICHS HAVE REGAINED THE INTERNATIONAL SIX MAN TROPHY!!!!!! Kerry and Kevin return to the ring to celebrate with David and Fritz, who is raising the trophy high above his head!
