"Portland Wrestling", 10/13/82
Oct 11th, 2012, 5:03pm

“Portland Wrestling”
Sports Arena
10/13/82

Don Coss and Dutch Savage open the show from the Crow’s Nest. Jimmy Snuka is with them.

Coss, “Welcome to the ‘House of Action’ and that’s what we have tonight, action! We have a Northwest Tag Team Title match in our main event, ‘Playboy’ Buddy Rose and Ed Wiskoski, defend the titles against the young team of Steve Pardee and Matt Bourne. The strange, but talented, Chris Colt returns to the Northwest as he meets El Bracero. We will talk with Billy Jack and Stan Stasiak, and this man will be in action. Jimmy, you’ve been here for a few weeks. You’ve won all your matches and tonight you meet the rugged Ron McFarlane.”

Snuka, “Bruddah, the competition here is always good. Rose and Oliver and on top and I want to knock them off that ledge. I came here to beat the best and I want Rip Oliver for the Northwest Title. I’ve earned it.”

Coss, “I think you have. Don Owen will be working on that match. Let’s go to the ring and see the ‘Superfly’ in action.”

Match #1
Jimmy Snuka def. Ron McFarlane, w/Superfly leap

Coss and Savage are with Billy Jack and Stan Stasiak in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “With me are two of the most popular men in the Northwest Stan Stasiak and Billy Jack. Gentlemen, I know you are not on the trails of the Champions, but tonight, Rose and Wiskoski meet Steve Pardee and Matt Bourne.”

Stasiak, “Bourne and Pardee are good wrestlers. We wish them luck. If they win tonight, we want a shot at them.”

BJ, “Yea, it'll be a pleasure to wrestle a scientific team.”

Coss, “It appears that the ‘Playboy’ and his Army are avoiding you.”

Stasiak, “They can’t do that forever. We keep winning the people will demand that we get a title shot, and Don Owen will get it signed.”

Coss, “Let’s see Billy Jack and the Crusher in action.”

Match #2
Stan Stasiak and Billy Jack def. Pat McGinnis and Buck Ramstead, Stasiak w/Heartpunch vs. McGinnis

Chris Colt  is in the Crow’s Nest with Coss and Savage.

Colt, “With us is Chris Colt. Mr. Colt you’ve come back to the Northwest. What are your plans?”

Colt, “We are all on psychedelic journey and we don’t know where it leads. Mine has taken me all over the world and now I’m back in Portland, a place where I had many victories. I am here to continue my journey. Many obstacles are in my path and I will navigate through them.”

Colt, “Mr. Colt has not changed, and I am sure he is still a top wrester. Let’s see him in action.”

Match #3
Chris Colt def. El Bracero, w/Elbow Drop

Buddy Rose and his Army are in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “With me are the ‘Playboy’ and his Army. Mr. Rose, you and your men hold all the titles, but some very talented wrestlers are hot on your trail. Jimmy Snuka wants a shot at Rip Oliver’s northwest Title, and you and Ed Wiskoski have two top teams chasing you. You meet Matt Bourne and Scott Pardee tonight and then you may have to deal with Billy Jack and Stan Stasiak.”

Rose, “There’s a conspiracy against me and the Army. No one has to wrestle as often as we do! Don Owen wants us to lose these titles, but that’s not going to happen. Look at me, the most handsome man in wrestling and the best wrestler. Now you throw in Rip Oliver, the Northwest Champion, and my partner, Ed Wiskoski, the smartest man in wrestling, next to me. Now we have the ‘Kangaroo’ Bob Heffernan. Owen, throw anything you want at us, we’re up to it!”

Coss, “The ‘Playboy’ and his Army are very confident. Later tonight, he and Wiskoski defend the tag titles against Steve Pardee and Matt Bourne, next Rip Oliver meets ‘Flying’ Fred Curry in a non-title match”

Match #4
Non-Title Match
Rip Oliver (Northwest Champion) w/Buddy Rose def. “Flying” Fred Curry, w/Shoulder breaker

Coss, “The Northwest Tag Team Titles are on the line when we return.”

Main Event, Two out of Three Falls
Northwest Tag Team Championship
“Playboy” Buddy Rose and Ed Wiskoski (Champions) vs. Steve Pardee and Matt Bourne

First Fall-
The Challengers are ready they grab the momentum and the Champions are in trouble. Bourne gets a two count, but Wiskoski kicks out. He and Rose take to the floor to confer, but Bourne and Pardee follow them. Both teams brawl on the arena floor. The action returns to the ring and the Challengers continue their attack. Pardee uses a victory roll to pin Rose! The Challengers are up 1-0!
Winners-Steve Pardee and Matt Bourne

Coss and Savage are in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “Dutch, what a fall! Steve Pardee pinned Buddy Rose!”

Savage, “I’m supposed to be unbiased, but I can’t tell you how excited I am to see that! Now if they can get one more fall.”

Coss, “What a main event, and we have, at least, one fall to go. Let’s shift gears a bit and talk about next week. We have another fantastic main event scheduled. Don Owen has been working overtime. Chris Colt, who has just returned to the Northwest, will meet none other than ‘Superfly’ Jimmy Snuka in our main event. You won’t want to miss that one. Now let’s go back to the ring and see if Pardee and Bourne can take the titles from the Army.”

Second Fall-Rose and Wiskoski are no-nonsense in this fall. They take the fight to the Challengers and are too much for Pardee and Bourne. Rose hits the Billy Robinson sit-out backbreaker on Pardee for the win.
Winners-Buddy Rose and Ed Wiskoski

Rose and Wiskoski are in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “Mr. Rose, you’re dead even now, but you know that Steve Pardee can pin you.”

Rose, “That little punk! He made the mistake of his life. We won that fall, but we’re going to make Pardee and Bourne pay even more! We’re not finished!”

Rose and Wiskoski storm to the ring.

Third Fall-Rose and Wiskoski attack the Challengers, but Pardee and Bourne are ready. This is a brawl. Both teams have their chances. Rose whips Pardee into the corner, but referee Sandy Barr is in the way and Pardee crashes into him. Barr goes down. Wiskoski and Bourne begin to brawl on the floor. Suddenly Rip Oliver comes to ringside with a steel chair. He slides it into the ring and Rose piledrives Pardee on it. Pardee is busted open! Rose tosses the chair out of the ring. Barr struggles to his feet and counts the fall. The Champions win, but Pardee is in a bad way. Rose takes the mike from Don Owen.

Rose, “Pardee, I told you, you made a big mistake! I made you pay and pay big time!”

Winners-Buddy Rose and Ed Wiskoski

Bourne helps Pardee to his feet. Steve is bleeding profusely. The program ends with a bloody Pardee being helped to the back.

Another great TV!  Snuka looks like he has his targets in sight...Billy Jack and Stasiak make great challengers to the tag straps...Chris Colt always was nuttier than a squirrel turd...Always a great main event on your shows...Great, great work!

Rose and Wiskoski show how brutal they can be. I would lay good money on Jack and The Man. I wonder how Bourne will bounce back. Snuka is going to squash Oliver. Only a matter of time.

Good show.

Interesting mix you've got here. Mostly Portland mainstays, but a few wildcards that should definitely change things up!

Still lovin' it Tom.

Hopefully we get to see that Dusty/Billy Jack vs. Rose & Oliver match sometime soon!

I always enjoy seeing a promoter load up on the actual talent that was in their particular territory.  Sometimes they may get a bit cozy with trying to present that talent in the same way as in real life, but some manage to mix things up enough to be able to see a difference, yet sill make it exciting.

You have done that here with Portland.  I haven't seen much of Portland in reality, but I have seen enough to know you are doing a great job here.  I'll tune in more often to check things out.
