Southwest Championship Wrestling TV
Taped Wednesday October 10, 1982
at The Junction in San Antonio TX
Broadcast Saturday October 13, 1982

Interviews on the show:

- Tully Blanchard was all smiles as he knows he has Eddie Mansfield here on tv today, and again tomorrow night at Freeman Coliseum.  He pans to finish handling the Eddie mansfield problem this weekend.

- Thunderbolt Patterson & Tiger Conway JR talked about their shot at The Fabulous Blondes and the Southwest tag team titles tomorrow night at Freeman Coliseum.  They both also had comments about the Brass Knuckles tournament in two weeks.

- Blackjack Mulligan talked about being ready to face Big John Studd tomorrow night at Freeman Coliseum.  He said that there is no way that Studd is going to get him up for the body slam, but he sure plans to drive his lariat right into his chest to win the match.  He then talked about hearing The Spoiler out here last week warn him not to use the claw anymore.  Mulligan told Spoiler that he will do anything he wants, any time he wants, and Spoiler can get over it.

- Bobby Fulton and Tommy Rogers, The Fantastics talked to Steve Stack for the first time.  They talked about how excited they are to be here in the Southwest, and how they hope to get to challenge for the Southwest belts real soon.

- Big John Studd said that tomorrow night at Freeman Coliseum, he is going to drive Jack Mulligan through the ring with his bodyslam, and take back the Southwest belt.  He closed by commenting that he is the one true giant in all of professional wrestling, and dares anyone to dispute that claim.

- Southwest tag team champions, Eric Embry & Ken Timbs, talked about how they have all these tag teams lining up to wrestle them, but they look around and don't see any real competition.  They say they'll end the dream of TBolt and Conway tomorrow night, and then take a trip out to Hollywood to shoot love scenes with Linda Carter and Catherine Bach.

AWA Newscenter with Gene Okerlund
- Gene talked about how arrangements are underway to sign a match between Jerry "The King" Lawler and "King" Carl Fergie to see who the real King of wrestling is.
- The Brass Knuckles Tournament will take place SUnday October 28 here in San Antonio.
- AWA World Heavyweight Champion, Wahoo McDaniel will be coming back to the Shouthwest real soon for another round of title defenses.

Matches on this show:

- Johnny Mantell pinned Jerry Grey after a bulldog.

- Magic Dragon pinned Ricky Rickard with a reverse neck breaker.

- The Fantastics def. Ben Alexander and Barry Horowitz.

- Big John Studd pinned Billy Francis after a huge body slam.

- Eddie Mansfield pinned Tully Blanchard.  Blanchard was in control of the action with his dad Joe Blanchard at ringside shouting encouragement.  All of a sudden, a man came out from the locker room area and clocked Joe from behind.  Tully reached through the ropes to get at the man, but Mansfield rolled Tully up from behind and put his feet on the ropes for the pinfall victory.

After the match, Mansfield went to Steve Stack.  Stack recognized the man as Bob Orton Sr.  Mansfield said that he has hired Orton as his new manager to watch his back against the low down, dirty, yellow Blanchards.  He said that old man Joe better watch out tomorrow night, cause Bob Orton is ready, willing, and able to smack his face sideways.  He then warned Tully that now the sides are even, he is in for a world of hurt tomorrow night at Freeman Coliseum!

He kept rambling on as the show went off the air.

30 Minute Sunday edition:  (also taped on October 10)

- Hector & Mando Guerrero def. Tony Zane and Danny Fargo

- Al Madril talked about being ready for his match later with Kendo Nagasaki

Freeman Coliseum Show
San Antonio Texas
Sunday October 14, 1982

- In the main event, Blackjack Mulligan successfully defended the Southwest title against Big John Studd.  Studd had Mulligan up for his body slam, when Mulligan wiggled free.  he then pushed Studd into the ropes and nailed him with his Lariat for the win at 17:04 of a brutal match.  After the bout, Studd attacked Mulligan.  Mulligan fought back, and locked in his claw on Studd.  The Spoiler ran in and waylayed Mulligan from behind.  Studd and Spoiler then put the boots to Mulligan.  Studd held Mulligan down while Spoiler locked in the claw and kept it applied until Mulligan was bleeding from the effects of it.  It took many police officers and wrestlers to end the vicious attack.

In other bouts.....

- Southwest Tag Team Champions, The Fabulous Blondes withstood the assault of challengers Thunderbolt Patterson & Tiger Conway JR.  They won the match when Timbs gave Conway a knee to the back that propelled him into a small package from Embry for the pin at 22:02.

- Tully Blanchard w/ Joe Blanchard fought Eddie Mansfield w/ Bob Orton Sr. to a double disqualification at 7:33 as both managers became involved and the match broke down to a fight.  The battle continued to rage all around the ringside area and to the locker room.

- Jose Lothario scored the win over "Mr. Wonderful" Rip Rogers w/ Rock Riddle when Lothario caught an over confident Rogers with a Thesz press for the pin at 13:44.

Boy, Spoiler was serious with that claw challenge. I like the addition of Orton, Sr. to the Mansfield mix. It will be interesting if a rivalry of sorts develops between The Fantastics and The Guerreros. Riddle, and maybe Rogers, need to go back to the drawing board. Will be interesting to see how Madril develops. Loved the Carter-Bach reference. Be still, my heart.

Very solid stuff.  Really like adding Orton Sr. - the right type to be stuck (in a good way!) with Eddie.  The show close with Eddie babbling made a nice picture.

Everybody seems to be doing good work here...maybe NOT The Spoiler who's doing a LOT og talking.

Hmmm, Wednesday taping & getting TV prelim workers from elsewhere?  If that is a plan, it is very smart!
