NWA CANADIAN HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE - NUMBER ONE CONTENDER MATCH

On a chilly, rainy, October evening, the venerable barn at the corner of Church & Carlton Streets provides a beacon for wrestling fans of the bustling metropolis.  Excited fans have plenty to chatter about in the lobby, at the merch stands and in the concession lines - "When will we see Kiniski?", "Is Sweet Daddy going to get his big chance now?".

Ring announcer Norm Kimber urges the fans to take their seats and settle in for professional wrestling excitement.  All matches are 30 minute time limit, save the Main Event - NO time limit!  Your NWA appointed officials this evening will be Terry Yorkston and John Bonello.  After the playing and singing of "O Canada", the bell is chiming!

MATCH 1  - Comedy entrance of Golden Terror with the wild Wolfman on a chain provides an amusing start.  There is some Calypso music to herald the debut in North America of the Caribbean Sunshine Boys.  Two well-built, handsome & personable black athletes.

Who prove they have no ring rust to shake off in a dominating display, climaxed by a whipping together of Wolfie & GT followed by the airplane spin on Golden Terror by Kincaid to render GT helpless.
RESULT - Johnny Kincaid pins The Golden Terror @ 7:40

MATCH 2 - Denny Brown is waving to his new fans as we get a blast of mariachi trumpets.  Out comes a man attired in scarlet tights, singlet & mask - plenty of gold trim, including tassels down the legs.  We have the bell...and some laughs as Brown points out the new guy still has his dorky matador cap on over the hood!  We have a high-energy, acrobatic exhibition with the man from south of the Rio Grande knocked silly by a cartwheel back elbow.
RESULT - Denny Brown pins El Matador @ 8:30

MATCH 3 - Fans get their lungs a work out with BRUCIE chants as Beautiful Bruce leads out THE Hangman AND The Great Malumba.  Ref directs BB to return Malumba to the dressing room.  More yuks as Bruce needs both the rope leash & whacks of the riding crop to struggle through the task.  By the time he returns, big Frank Savage is giving THE Hangman a taste of his own medecine - has the masked marvel's throat across the top rope.  Interference by BB clears THAT up - the former grappler goes to the dreaded thumb-to-eye on Savage to allow for a fallaway slam by Hangman.
RESULT - THE Hangman pins Frank Savage @ 7:50

MATCH 4 - Veteran Black Angus Campbell out first in his kilt, NOT impressed that opponent Karl is entering the ring with Kurt Von Steiger.  Kurt is really mouthing off until the ref tells him to jackboot his way out.  Kurt says he will be Karl's zecond (BOOO).  And more, Kurt is happy to help out brother Karl - Campbell gets some two-for-one action and plenty of abuse behind our official's back.  Kurt pulls BAC out & rams his head on the timekeeper's desk....the crowd ROARS as OUT COMES SWEET DADDY SIKI!  Preview of the Main Event - they brawl out the tunnel way.  Very distracted ref awards Karl a VERY tainted win.
RESULT - Karl Von Steiger def. Black Angus Campbell via CO @ 9:20

INTERMISSION

MATCH 5 - No reason to RUSH back to your seats UNLESS you don't want to miss hearing what RIP HAWK has to say!

RH:  "You know, whenever I've appeared at this DUMP, it would be a SELL-OUT!  This is almost SO pathetic, I should take my HOLLYWOOD BOMBSHELLS somewhere else - where they'll be appreciated!"

BOOOO!  Rip & the boys fake putting their flashy robes back on and, indeed, departing!  But the good guys, Little Bear & Mike Allen storm the ring.  Rip hurries out with the expensive gowns as we have a pier-sixer!  Little Bear is doing a war dance!  A good tilt with Rossitani's size advantage beginning to take over.  Brown goes into lily-livered heel mode, letting the bigger, younger guy carry the load but getting some cheap shots in, as Rip Hawk tries getting the fans on the Bombshell's bandwagon.  VERY negative response.  Don't get Rip riled - retaliatory throat-thumb for Allen to let the crowd know how wrong they are!  Allen is not going to be much more use - Little Bear swamped.  He takes a double shoulderbreaker and the cads do a mocking debate over who gets the pin!
RESULT - Jerry Brown pins Steven Little Bear @ 10:00

MATCH 6 - More from Beautiful Bruce Productions!  The fans are increasingly irate as THE Hangman drags The Great Malumba in on his tether.  Gilles Poisson has two cornermen to deal with PLUS our man from deepest, darkest Africa.  Poisson plays off big Mal's stupendously clumsy & awkward ring work & is more than holding his own.  Tries a whip to the corner but the bare feet have good braking traction - Malumba reverses & charges with a roar.  BIGGER roar as Poisson got both boots up.  Malumba overdoes the faceripping counter-move - he is taken to a neutral corner for a talking to.

Allowing the knot-smith Hangman to get the rope tied around Gilles' feet - Poisson is so alarmed, his complaints are en Francais - Bonello only speaks English and Maltese.  Malumba hits the shooting "Fish" in a barrel splash and makes a pin!  He wants a FIVE count!  Allowing The Fish to point out his lassoed legs...
RESULT - Great Malumba pins Gilles "The Fish" Poisson @ 9:40!  HANG ON!  Referee REVERSES the decision!  Poisson by disqualification!

Well, the fans are relieved there is SOME justice!  Bruce looking a bit chaffed at his gang that can't shoot straight - adding to the crowd's pleasure as he leads the two dum-dums away.

MATCH 7 -  The crowd cheers Chris Tolos and the frostiness of "Gentleman" Jerry Valiant is noted - his superior attitude makes him unlovable.  The smaller, older Tolos pulls out all the stops & stays competitive.  Valiant's methodical attack does wear him down, and Jerry turns most ungentlemanly.  Foul after foul!  Low-bloes, chokeholds & on the floor Tolos is bloodied from impacting the ringpost!  Valiant leaves him there for dead and a count-out victory - he engages the crowd in speculating on KINISKI faring any better.  But NEVER give a Tolos a second chance!  As the ref tries to stop JV from antagonizing the cash customers...

...Chris grabs a chair and storms back in.  To IMMENSE support.  Short-lived as Jerry dropkicks the chair into Chris's melon.  Ref calls for the bell and Jerry goes OFF!  He grabs the chair & batters Tolos out of the ring before the weapon is wrested away.
RESULT - Jerry Valiant def. Chris Tolos via DQ @ 12:00

Crowd is getting surly - a condition not improved by the arrival of two noisy, jackbooting Teutons running down everything Canadian.  As they enter the squared circle, Karl is already giving Kurt a victory salute & armraise!  Menacing grins are wiped off the lovely mugs by....

Turn up da noise!  Turn up da FUNK!  Turn dat frown upside down!

High energy from your SWEET DADDY!

MATCH 8 MAIN EVENT NO TIME LIMIT, NWA CANADIAN HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE - NUMBER ONE CONTENDER MATCH

Sweet Daddy brazenly enters the ring & pushes Karl to the ropes.  The ref tells the younger (?) Hun to keep marching while restraining the other menacing chrome-dome.  Cool as a breeze, Sweet Daddy takes the mic.

SDS:  "Mach schnell, Fritzie, or forward march, whattever way yas wanna say it - go fly a kite!  Or is your brother a BIG BABY, a-scareda takin' me on, man-to-man?  I KNOW your type, tough as ALLLL get-out when they gots some back-up!"

Glowering grumpy gazes from both Germans, but Sweet Daddy got a parting shot.

SDS:  "You ain't so noisy NOW, runnin' down Canada an' MY people, y'all ain't so BRAVE now the BIG DOG's in the yard?  Whattaya say, people, are WE GONNA...Gongnnnn...ah..."

Kurt jumps him, nearly knocking Norm over, he tries shoving the mic down Siki's throat!  The ref hurries the announcer out & we have the bell as Siki is on all fours, getting some sledgehammers & boots.  He grabs a leg & gets Kurt Von S. on the mat & they roll about the ring, exchanging punches until The Sweet One gets grimacing Kurt up in a headlock.  Don't you love seeing shaved heads changing color as a headlock is grinding away?  Kurt's turns a rosy pink - Siki adds some noogie-knuckles and flips the big brute down.  A dropkick & Kurt & Karl are reunited on the floor, most offended by the cheering fans.

BOTH Bavarians are up on the apron, Karl trying to get Siki's attention while Kurt tries sneaking in back-door - simultaneous back-kick & forearm score on either target.  For the next 10 minutes Karl has to content himself with bellowing & banging the apron.  Kurt & SDS have a tilt of a rather rugged nature.  At 12:30, Kurt has a bearhug hold to ram Mr. Irresistible's head to the buckles - again, a well-placed back-kick breaks the momentum.  At 14:30, Siki heaves Kurt on his shoulders & commences take off on the airplane spin!  Quick-thinking Karl reaches in & grabs Kurt's desperately outstretched hand, fior a sudden emergency landing.  While Karl is getting a warning, Kurt is getting busy - jackboot to the upper loin region & SDS is hunched over.  The ref turns too late, by now all he sees is a flurry of elbow-drops to the nape of the neck.  Karl needs CONSTANT supervision, he's back on the apron, the scamp.  With a jackboot on the middle turnbuckle.  And Kurt knows all about it!  He runs Siki from the far side for a hard slam into the apparently, VERY sturdy footwear.  With a trickle of red on his forehead, Sweet Daddy is left to do a careening, gyrating face plant.

RESULT - Kurt Von Steiger pins Sweet Daddy Siki @ 17:10
KURT VON STEIGER EARNS A TITLE MATCH AGAINST GENE KINISKI!

Norm Kimber thanks the fans, drive safely and all.  Crowd disperses - knowing for SURE the good guys will do better NEXT TIME.

Liked the Caribbean Sunshine Boys. I really would have bet my money, little as it is, on Siki. The home boy Tolos has to do better next time. I have to like Rip's boys in the upcoming tag tourney. Nice night for Beautiful Bruce, as well.

Word of mouth should bring more out for NWA-Toronto next time.
