"Portland Wrestling", 10/20/82
Oct 18th, 2012, 7:07pm

“Portland Wrestling”
Sports Arena
Portland, OR
10/20/82

Don Coss and Dutch Savage open the show from the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “Dutch, the ‘House of Action’ will be just that tonight. Jimmy Snuka will be in his first main event since returning to the Northwest. He takes on the mysterious Chris Colt.”

Savage, “Colt is strange, but good. Jimmy Snuka has picked up where he left off a few years ago. I’m going with the ‘Superfly’ in this one.”

Coss, “That’s not all we will see. Last week, the tag team champions, ‘Playboy’ Buddy Rose and Ed Wiskoski defeated the young team of Matt Bourne and Steve Pardee. They used a chair to bloody Pardee. We will hear from the Army and also from Matt Bourne, who will give us an update on Steve Pardee. Now let’s get things started. We have a new tag team in the ring.”

Match #1
Billy White Cloud and Joe Lightfoot def. Caveman Broda and Buck Ramstead, Lightfoot w/Tomahawk chop vs. Broda

We see highlights of Andre the Giant.

Coss and Savage are with Buddy Rose and the Army.

Coss, “Fans, that was Andre the Giant. The legendary man from the French Alps will be in the Northwest in November. Now let’s talk to the Army. Mr. Rose, you and Mr. Wiskoski used a chair to bloody Steve Pardee. That was uncalled for.”

Rose, “Wah, wah, wah, this is a big boys game and Steve Pardee is a little boy. Ed and I are the tag team champions, Rip is the Northwest Champion and Bob Heffernan is an international star. The Army is made up of men, not kids.”

Coss, “O.K. your record speaks for itself, but I still think that was uncalled for. I have official word that Pardee suffered a concussion and also received 25 stitches in his forehead. He will be out of action for several weeks.”

Rose, “Good riddance! If you can’t run with the big dogs, stay on the porch.”

Coss, “Well Steve Pardee won’t be here for a few weeks, but I have heard through the grapevine that Matt Bourne is livid…”

Rose, “So what, he’s not even here this week!”

Coss, “No he’s not, but he will be here next week and he has asked to speak with you, personally, on TV.”

Rose, “Let him talk, he’s a punk!”

Coss, “O.K., but let’s see what happens next week. We have more information about next week’s show. A member of the Army, Bob Heffernan, will be in the main event against Rocky Della Serra. The Canadian has been impressive.”

Rose, “I’ll let Bob talk about this one.”

Heffernan, “I’ve seen this Canadian. He’s not worthy to carry my Matilda. That’s my travel bag for you ignorant Americans and Canadians. I will dispatch him with ease.”

Coss, “There is next week’s main event, Della Serra vs. Heffernan. Now let’s see the Northwest Champion, Rick Oliver, in action.”

Match #2
Non-Title Match
Rip Oliver (Northwest Champion) w/Buddy Rose def. Pat McGinnis, w/shoulder breaker

Stan Stasiak and Billy Jack are in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “With me are Stan Stasiak and Billy Jack. Gentlemen, you heard Rose out here earlier. They beat Bourne and Pardee, who are a good young team, but they don’t seem to want to get in the ring with you two.”

Stasiak, “Does that surprise you? Rose has always been a coward. He doesn’t want to risk those titles, Billy and I are patient, but we won’t wait forever. Don Owen, you better this match signed!”

BJ, “Crusher’s right. I know I’m a young guy, but we deserve a title shot and we aren’t going to wait forever.”

Don Owen comes out.

Owen, “I heard you two guys talking, and I think you’re right. You two deserve a shot against Rose and Wiskoski, Those two are the Champions and the Champions have some power, but not all the time. It’s up to the commission and me, when a team gets title shots. I’m going to work on it.”

Coss, “Crusher Stasiak and Billy Jack are after he Champions as are Bourne and Pardee. The ‘Playboy’ is in a difficult situation. We will have to wait and see what happens. Now let’s go to the ring and see Stan ‘Crusher’ Stasiak in action.”

Match #3
Stan Stasiak def. Ron McFarlane, w/heart punch

Rocky Della Serra is in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “With us now is Rocky Della Serra. Rocky, you heard it earlier. You are in the main event next week. You meet the Aussie, ‘Kangaroo’ Bob Heffernan. He is an experienced veteran.”

Della Serra, “Heffernan is an experienced guy. He’s been very successful, but I’m ready for him. I came to Portland to make a name for myself, and a win over him would be a nice start.”

Coss, “You’ll have to keep an eye on Rose and the rest of the Army.”

Della Serra, “It’s a shame that wrestlers as good as Heffernan need help to win, well I’m ready for anything and I don’t plan on losing.”

Coss, “Let’s see Rocky Della Serra in the ring.”

Match #4
Rocky Della Serra def. El Bracero, w/victory roll

Coss, “Our main event is next.”

Main Event, Two out of Three Falls
Jimmy Snuka vs. Chris Colt

First Fall
-Snuka takes the fight to Colt. The man the Fiji Islands dominates the action. He hits the Superfly splash to win the first fall.
Winner-Jimmy Snuka

Snuka is with Coss and Savage in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “Jimmy, you looked great in the first fall, but Colt won’t give up easily.”

Snuka, “That’s right bruddah. Colt is tricky, but so am I. I’m here to get to the top and after I beat Colt, I want Oliver! I want the Northwest Title!”

Coss, “That’s a match we’d all like to see. When we return, we will have the second fall.”

Second Fall-Snuka comes to the ring first. Colt arrives with Buddy Rose. Don Owen approaches Rose.

Owen, “Buddy Rose, what are you doing with Colt?”

Rose, “I saw what Snuka did! He broke every rule in the book and that’s how he won the fall. I’m here to make sure that doesn’t happen again!”

Owen, “I don’t know about this. Nobody trusts you Rose.”

Rose, “Who cares Owen, this is Portland and I run things, not you!””

Owen, “That may be what you think, but I’m going to make a ruling. If you interfere in any way, you’re going to get a $500 fine.”

Rose, “I’ve got so much money, $500 means nothing to me!”

The fall starts and Snuka is still on fire. Rose shouts instructions from ringside. It looks like Snuka will win in two straight falls, until he tries to body slam Colt. Rose starts to climb up on the apron and this distracts Snuka. Colt is able to roll up Jimmy and referee Sandy Barr counts the fall. Snuka argues. Owen takes the mike.

Owen, “Rose, you didn’t touch Snuka, but you distracted him, I’m fining you $500!”

Rose, “Who cares Owen, do you want it in cash, or check?”
Winner-Chris Colt

Coss and Savage are in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “I don’t like this. Rose sticks his nose into things and I think Jimmy Snuka is in trouble.”

Savage, “Normally I’d say Jimmy can take care of himself, and I think he can, but Rose is a problem for anyone. He just thinks he can do anything.”

Coss, “The ‘Playboy’ has been on top in Portland and he has never been stronger. Now let’s talk about the month of November. The date of the next ‘Portland Special’ has been released. Tuesday night, November 20, the Portland Sports Arena will host another exciting night of action. We have two big announcements, first of all it has been confirmed, Dusty Rhodes will be in action and will defend the NWA World Title that night, secondly, Andre the Giant will be in action that night. Dusty and Andre on the same card, the eyes of the wrestling world will be on Portland that night. That’s not all we have to tell you. On the Saturday night edition of ‘Portland Wrestling’ for November 17 will feature both of those Superstars. Dusty Rhodes and Andre the Giant on Portland TV, what a month November will be!”

Savage, “I’ve been around Washington and Oregon for a long time and there have been a lot of exciting periods of wrestling, but I don’t know if there has been a time like this.”

Coss, “I agree Dutch, just unbelievable, and tonight’s not over yet. When we return, Snuka vs. Colt in the third fall.

Third Fall-This is a brawl. Colt throws everything at Snuka, but Jimmy matches him blow for blow. Rose is agitated at ringside. Finally he climbs up on the ring apron. Snuka grabs Colt and Rose and bangs their heads together. Colt goes down and Rose falls to the floor. Snuka covers Colt and Sandy Barr counts the fall. Don Owen takes the mike.

Owen, “Rose, since you really didn’t help Colt much, I’m not going to fine you for that one. You did enough damage.”

The crowd goes crazy as Snuka stands in the ring.
Winner-Jimmy Snuka

Rose interacting with Snuka and Colt was priceless. Stasiak still hasn't lost his edge. Can't wait for Borne to get hold of Rose and Wiskoski.

Great show.

Still love your PNW Tom.  Its my favorite read on the board each week.

Great way to give Colt a fall over Snuka, and I liked the drama you added with Owen threatening the fine, Rose incurring the fine, and then Owen making a joke of Rose by taking the fine back.  Loved it.

Your pacing of tv and angles is great.  Love how you already have me anticipating next week with the tease of a Borne - 4ose face to face, and have already talked up the main event.

 Keep up the great work

One of the good things about these fantasy wrestling sites is that given the right roster, the promoter usually delivers the same quality that was seen in real life.  Mr. Tlyne has once again made PNW a hotbed of wrestling!  I've had the pleasure of seeing Tom's other work for years.  This is top-notch booking and keeps everyone entertained.

Good solid show.  Rose and Wiskowski are still causing trouble for everyone with his Army.  Looking forward to seeing how they act once Borne get's his hands on them again.  Might we see Andre helping out a bit?
