Southwest TV 10-20-82
Oct 20th, 2012, 7:33pm

Southwest Championship Wrestling
Broadcast Saturday October 20, 1982
Taped Wednesday October 17, 1982
at The Junction in San Antonio TX
Sanctioned by the AWA
Hosted by Steve Stack

Steve Stack welcomed everyone into the show, and was joined by Tiger Conway Jr.  Tiger said that he has had a decent run here so far in Southwest, but feels a little let down by himself.  He said he has won some matches, but he should be winning more.  He today, he rededicates himself to winning a title here in the Southwest.  Steve Stack wishes him luck.

Match:  Tiger Conway Jr. def. Danny Fargo when he caught him with a sunset flip for the pinfall at 4:50.

Commercial Break
(A commercial played advertising the Brass Knuckles Tournament next Sunday night at the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio TX)

Steve Stack was joined by Wendall Cooley who said that he is disappointed in Rock Riddle for trying to lure him into his world of cheating and taking shortcuts.  He said he is glad that he is with Rip Rogers now, because those two cheats deserve each other.  He does however feel he is the better wrestler than Rogers, and he gets his chance to prove it tomorrow afternoon on Southwest TV in the main event when he faces Rogers.  Steve commented that Riddle makes the match 2 on 1, and tells Cooley to watch his back.  Stack then introduces the next match.....

Match:  The Fantastics, Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers def Ben Alexander and Mike Stallings when Rogers caught Stallings with a flying forearm for the pin at 7:03.

After the bout, Stack was joined by the Super Astro Invaders for an interview.  They were both dressed in head to toe body suites and matching masks in the color or silver, with long emerald green capes.  Stack tried to ask several questions, to which neither man answered, nor changed their posture from that of standing like statues with their arms crossed.  The only thing that got a reaction was when Stack asked what they thought about the Fantastics in the previous match, and the two masked men both turned and stared at Steve before walking off.  A confused Steve Stack threw the show to commercial.

Commercial Break

The Spoiler joined Steve Stack, as Stack introduced footage from last Sunday night of Spoiler attacking Blackjack Mulligan after his match with Big John Studd.  Spoiler said that he gave Blackjack Mulligan ample warning to stop using the claw hold.  Spoiler says that that is his hold, and no other man can use it.  If they do, they will suffer the consequences just like Mulligan did last Sunday night.  He also added that if Blackjack is any kind of man, he'll meet Spoiler in a match for the Southwest title.

Match:  The Spoiler def. Ron Sexton by submission at 3:03 with his claw hold.  After the match, Blackjack Mulligan came to the ring, but Spoiler backed out and left before any action could take place.

Mulligan then joined Stack at ringside.  He said that Spoiler stepped over the line Sunday night.  He said that that Spoiler not liking him using the claw was one thing.....but one man telling another what he can and can't do in this world is a whole other.  He said that Spoiler has a butt kickin' coming, and anytime he wants a match, he'll slap his claw on his ugly masked mug and show Spoiler who has the most dangerous claw!

Commercial Break

Match:  Tully Blanchard def. Joel Deaton by pin with his slingshot suplex at 5:45.

Tully then went and joined Steve Stack for an interview.  He started out quite mad at the Eddie Mansfield situation from last week.  Steve Stack rolled tape from last week where Bob Orton Sr. debuted as Mansfield's manager and did a Pearl Harbor job on Joe Blanchard who was at ringside.  They come back from tape, and Steve asked Tully what he plans to do about this.  Tully then smiled and said that he had an idea of how to keep Bob Orton from interfering when he faces Mansfield again.  He reached behind the desk and pulled out a straight jacket!  Tully was full of himself as he told Stack that when he faces Mansfield again, Bob Orton Sr. will be required to wear this to keep him from getting involved.  Stack said that he hasn't had the chance to see one of these jackets in action.  So Tully starts putting it on to show Stack how it will keep Orton neutral.  Tully got it on, and had Stack lace the straps on it.  Tully was fully in the jacket now, and showed Stack that no matter how hard he tried to get out, he just can't.  He was still in the jacket and talking about how he was looking so forward to his next match with Mansfield, when all of a sudden, Mansfield and Bob Orton Sr. stormed the interview area!  Mansfield waylayed Tully in the face putting him straight to the floor!  He and Orton then started putting the boots to Tully who is totally defenseless as he is still wearing the straight jacket.  They done some serious damage to him.  Before leaving, they lifted Tully up, and Mansfield slammed him face first into the desk hard.  He then got down on top of Tully and screamed in his face before adding a couple of punches.  When he got up off of Tully, blood was starting to pour from Tully's head.  Several lesser wrestlers came running to Tully's aid as Mansfield and Orton retreated to the locker room.

Commercial Break

Steve Stack welcomed everyone back, and told them that Tully is undergoing medical treatment right now, and he is in bad shape following the attack by Mansfield and Orton.

He then was joined by Southwest tag team champions, The Fabulous Blondes.  Timbs said that he is proud of his friend Eddie Mansfield for what he just done out here to Tully Blanchard.  He then said that he and Embry still don't see and real tag team competion for them here in the Southwest.  Embry joined in and said that they put TBolt and Conway in their places last Sunday night, and now are looking for someone else to embarrass.  They both said they are the best team in all of wrestling.  Steve Stack mentioned how The Guererros are still here, and now THe Fantastics as well.  Timbs chimed in and said that The Fantastics are a joke, and not real competition, and they already showed the Guerreros who the real champs are.  Embry said that they are going to show all the dumb fans here what a real tag team looks like in just a minute, and then Bo Derek and  Christie Brinkley better get ready, 'cause the Blondes are flying out to Hollywood for a hot night on the town!

Match:  Southwest Tag Champs, The Fabulous Blondes def. Ric McCord and Hoot Gibson at 9:55 by nailing Gibson with a double dropkick for Embry to get the pin.

As Steve Stack was starting to wrap up today's show, Eddie Mansfield and Bob Orton Sr. came out.  Mansfield called Tully the stupidest man alive for putting on that straight jacket.  He said that Tully like to talk a tough fight, but when it comes down to it, everyone knows that Eddie is the real baddest man in the Southwest, and he proved that today when he left Tully curled up and bleeding out here.  He said the next time he meets Tully, he'll end his career.  He and Orton then went over and bad mouthed fans as Stack wrapped things up and reminded everyone to watch the 30 minutes how right here tomorrow!

Well, I supposed it is back to the drawing board for Riddle and whoever tries for the Mr. Wonderful gig. Blanchard should have had better sense to put on that jacket. But, it did add some fuel to the fire. The impending claw vs. claw rivalry involving Blackjack and Soiler is going to be awesome. The real King is going to stomp a mudhole in Fergie.

Great stuff, Mickey.

I agree with macwfan1957 regarding Tully.  I guess he got caught up in the moment and never took time to think about being attacked after he put the jacket on.  However, it will be a very incensed Tully next time he gets Mansfield in the ring!

I'm a big fan of the Fabulous Blondes and love the fact they are the SW TT champs and you have them down to a tee with their personalities.

Good TV show!

Great TV...Tully definitely should have known better...The Blondes continue to dominate the competition...Funny segment with the Astro Invaders...The Fantastics are looking great...I wonder what cousin Jerry thinks of Carl's claims?  Not the start I was hoping for for Riddle/Rogers...Fantastic work!
