NWA Florida TV 10/27/82
Oct 25th, 2012, 10:46pm

Championship Wrestling from Florida presents: Southern Championship Wrestling
Telecast 10/27/82 across the Sunshine State with Gordon Solie, Buddy Colt, and Barbara Cleary

*All matches sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance*

Interviews and announcements:

-      Jake Roberts and the Legion of Doom crash the interview set and Roberts tells Gordon that he didn’t think he made his point clearly last week despite what Eddie Graham announced. “The simple fact is Eddie Graham, the Legion of Doom is my creation and I can do with it what I wish. If I want Jonathan Boyd to turn loose his Missing Link on any man, woman, or child in this studio, it gets done without question. If I want the Missing Link to bite the hand that feeds him and break the Warlord in two, it will be done. If I want the Great King Curtis Iaukea to throw fire into the faces of each member of this Legion, there will only be charred remains. And when I tell the One Man Gang to stand down and give me his match with Barry Windham on Halloween night for the Southern Heavyweight Championship that IS what will happen.”
-      Mike George and Jesse Barr tell Barbara that Boris Malenko needs to worry more about what will happen in any arena in Florida for himself. “You see old man, your snot nosed punk kids may wrestle as smoothly as a newborn’s backside. But when they have to get in the ring with the Future of Wrestling Jesse Barr and myself, they need to be prepared to do so without their daddy holding their hands. The shoulder breaker doesn’t play nice with little boys. The spinning toe hold will cripple your tikes just like anyone else who steps in the ring. And as you said Boris, a 50 year old man has no place in a wrestling ring. We will make sure of that.”
-      “Professor” Bill Ash and the Boss tell Buddy after the match that he knew that it would only be a matter of time before he reclaimed the Florida TV title. Colt tried to say the involvement of Kevin Sullivan looked more to be why Ash got back the belt, but the Boss simply ended the interview by walking off his man.
-      Butch Reed, fuming after his match, tells Gordon how he’s now even more focused for his title shot Halloween night in Miami. “Sullivan! You think getting a man while his back turned makes you a real champion? Well in Miami, Florida I’m gonna show you the strap the way your daddy shoulda a long time ago and whoop some since into that warped mind of yours.”
-      Southern Champ Barry Windham tells Gordon that who he faces won’t change the outcome. “Whether it’s the One Man Gang or that Snake, Jake Roberts I’m gonna walk into Miami as your Southern Heavyweight Champion and I’m gonna walk out that same Southern Heavyweight Champion. But ask yourself this Gordon, what kind of man would take something like a title match from someone he respected. No, better question. What kind of man would give up something like that without a fight?”

Matches for this telecast:

-      “Warlord” Jonathan Boyd and the Missing Link destroy “Gentleman” Jim Breaks and “Squire” Dave Taylor after the Link delivered a guided headbutt to Breaks.
-      Jesse Barr defeats “Cowboy’ Tony Falk with a spinning toe hold.
-      “Professor” Bill Ash defeats “the Natural” Butch Reed after Kevin Sullivan distracts Reed and allows Ash to connect with his Arkansas Whiplash for the victory.
-      Brutus Beefcake defeats the Nightmare with a sleeper hold.
-      Brett Sawyer and Omar Atlas defeat Perro Aguayo and the Black Scorpion after Sawyer hit a Russian Leg Sweep on the Scorpion.

Atlas and Sawyer make up a very impressive team. The promos here were spot on awesome! Roberts blowing up his own faction to get his goals accomplished is just as creepy as Jake is. Great response comments from Windham. Reed and Sullivan is going to be nasty. Nice weaving of two storylines in Ash winning the TV Title. Boris needs to beware.

Top notch effort, Kyle.

Well, that answers some of my last points!  King Curtis, Jake & the boys make for a super strong gang of no-goodniks!  Jake's interview really clicked - almost carries the whole show, the Windham's response at the end puts a neat wrap-up on things.

Wouldn't mind "The Boss" getting a bit fleshed out, made an impact here today.  Considering the set-wrescking stuff, the mayhem was well-organized & made sense.
