Heeeeeeyyyy what a busy week we have had and what a great show we have lined up for ya. And here’s our old friend Davey to tell us all about it. Brown: Yes indeed, Lance. We have more information on the big 10-man tag team match scheduled for Nov. 5th at the Mid-south Coliseum. Jim Cornette will be here to give us the details of the match. We will hear from The Gilberts, Austin Idol, Jerry Jarrett, & The King on today’s program. We will also hear from the former, yes, FORMER, Mid-America Champion, Sgt. Slaughter, as he discusses his Title loss to Tommy Rich. And we have some great matches lined up for our fans, including The King in action. So, this should be….Uh oh Lance it looks like you have company. Russell: Ohhhhhhhh boooooyyyyy, here he comes, Sgt. Slaughter. I know, I know, suck in my gut, stand tall….Geeeeee whiiiizzzz. Weeeeeellll Sarge, it looks like you came up short against Tommy Rich last Monday. (A VTR airs of Rich winning the Title from Slaughter). Slaughter: LANCE RUSSELL, YOU MAGGOT, I HEAR THE DISRESPECT IN YOUR VOICE! I HEAR HOW OVERJOYED YOU ARE. JUST REMEMBER YOU INSUBORDINATE, I CAN STILL WHIP YOU INTO SHAPE. LAST MONDAY WAS A TRAVESTY! THAT LONG HAIRED HIPPIE STOLE MY MID-AMERICA TITLE! IT WAS A COMPLETE SCAM ORCHESTRATED BY THE OFFICIALS OF THE CWA! I DEMAND THAT THAT PUKE GIVE MY TITLE BACK! HE IS A THIEF AND HE MUST RETURN MY PROPERTY RIGHT NOW! (At this time, Tommy Rich comes out with the Mid-America Title draped over his shoulder accompanied by Jerry Jarrett). Rich: Hey Slaw-tah, ya missin sumpin? Ah hear ya out here cryin like a big ‘ol baby because ya got whooped. Ah tell ya what. Ah brung Mr. Jarrett out here because I got an offer for ya. I will rassle you out here today and put tha Tahtle on tha line against you. But, if you lose, you gotta leave the CWA fer good. Take it or leave it Gomer. Slaughter: (Thinking) YOUR ON, YOU PUKE! Jarrett: I approve this match and it will be the main event. To make sure we have a true winner, it will be 2/3 falls and we will give you all the TV time you need. Every other match we had scheduled will now be stand-by matches. And the match will begin following the commercial. (Both Rich and Slaughter head to the ring). Russell: Woaaaaahhhhhh nellllllly, nooooowwwww that’s a big announcement! Fans, we will be right back! Match 1 Mid-America Title Match Tommy Rich© vs Sgt. Slaughter 2/3 falls, TV time remaining 1st Fall After over 10 minutes of action, Sgt. Slaughter takes the first fall with a Slaughter cannon. The match will continue after a commercial. 2nd Fall Another 12 plus minutes and Rich topples Slaughter with the Thesz press. The final fall will be decided after a commercial. 3rd Fall Nearly 10 minutes into the final fall, Slaughter’s Privates tries to help their mentor when referee Jerry Calhoun is knocked down. Slaughter holds Rich and the Privates charge at Rich for a double clothesline. Tommy ducks and Slaughter is creamed with the shot. Rich dropkicks each Private out of the ring and as Calhoun regains his senses, Rich takes the fall with a small package. Sgt. Slaughter must leave the CWA! Rich celebrates at ringside as Slaughter berates his charges in the ring. The three men leave in a huff. Cornette: Before you say anything banana nose, Andy has our men in training. And to prove it, I have brought a VTR for you and all of these barbeque snarfing sub-humans to watch. (The VTR shows Ric Flair, Nick Bockwinkel, Hulk Hogan, and David Schultz in a ring in a gym manhandling four scrubs. Kaufman is at ringside screeching instructions. Several times, the camera is blocked by the back of a muscular man with long stringy hair, whose face we never see). See Russell? Our men are a well-oiled machine. We are prepared to destroy Lawler’s group and win his crown, make him and Jarrett kiss mine and Andy’s feet, and start the process of buying ch. 5 and the Mid-South Coliseum. I will absolutely love taking wrestling away from these nasty, greasy, unkept trolls in Memphis. Who knows? Maybe I will start up my own wrestling promotion in my beloved hometown of Louisville and tease these idiots by showing it on my ch. 5. And when I do buy ch. 5, I guarantee there will be a new programs director and weatherman. But anyway, on to my announcement. The match I have chosen for Nov. 5th is called a rage in the cage. Obviously, it is a cage match, but fastened to the walls of the cage will be 10 sets of handcuffs. The match starts with a member of each team wrestling for five minutes. After five minutes, a member of one team who gets the advantage in a predetermined manner will enter the cage for a 2 on 1 advantage for two minutes. After two minutes, the disadvantaged team will even the score and it will continue like this until all 10 men are in the ring. The only way to win the match is to handcuff each member of the opposing team to the cage. You can physically handcuff them or they must be handcuffed following a pin or submission. I haven’t decided how the advantage will be determined as of yet, but I’m leaning towards a coin flip. Is there any doubt that my team will win? And before you ask, I will not announce my fifth team member until Nov. 3rd. But when you see him, all hope that you may have of your beloved Lawler’s team winning will be lost! Now, Russell, wipe that dumb look off of your face and enjoy the rest of one of your last shows here on ch. 5! (Cornette & Mohammed walk away). Russell: Boooooyyyy, I don’t like the odds for The King and his team, but Jerry has overcome the odds before. One thing I do know is that you don’t want to miss the Rrrrrage in the Cage! Match 2 The Rock-n-Roll Express def. Frank Morrell & Charlie Fulton with a double dropkick to Morrell Russell: Heeeeeeyyyyyy, here they are, Tommy & Eddie, the Gilberts. Guys, you came sooooooo close last week to winning the Southern Tag Team Titles. Tommy? What are your thoughts? Tommy: Lance, you are right. We almost had those Titles last Monday Night. We went to the time limit, but you can ask any of the fans that were there and they will tell you that Eddie and I were in control. What we want is a rematch with a longer time limit. We believe that if we get a longer time limit we can beat those two guys. (At this time, the Midnight Express comes out). Condrey: Listen Gilbert, we will take you and your snot nosed anytime any place. What we are out here for is to talk to our “manager” Jim Cornette. I need him out here right now. (The Gilberts walk off as Cornette walks to the desk, arms outstretched to hug his team). Cornette: Hey Bobby, hey Dennis. What does my favorite tag team in the world want? Condrey: Favorite team huh? Jim, where have you been? You haven’t been around for us in weeks. We are having to do everything. We feel like our own manager doesn’t have time for us. Cornette: (Getting squeaky) Dennis? You and Bobby are my highest priority! We have been together forever! Condrey: Highest priority? You aren’t even showing up at our matches! You are there for Flair, Hogan, Bockwinkel, and Schultz, but not us. Can you explain that? Cornette: Dennis, I just need to get revenge on Lawler and after that, it will be back to normal. I promise you both that nothing has changed. Listen, let’s talk about this in the back. These morons don’t need to hear this. (Cornette ushers the Midnight Express to the back). Russell: Weeeeeeeeell, looks like Jimmy has some trouble brewing. Heeeeeyyyyy let’s go to our next match. Match 3 Phil Hickerson def. Mike Fever with a shoulder breaker. Russell: Heeeeyyyy let’s welcome back in Jerry Jarrett. Jerry, it seems like you have something important on your mind. Jarrett: Yes Lance, I do. With the big Rage in the Cage coming up Nov. 5th, I have decided to match up the participants in singles matches Monday Night at the Mid-South Coliseum. Every Championship will be on the line Monday as well. There will be 7 matches and no increase in ticket prices. The Gilberts will get their rematch against the Midnight Express. David Schultz will face Dutch Mantell for the Southern Title, Tommy Rich will meet Nick Bockwinkel for the Mid-America Title. Jerry Lawler will take on Hulk Hogan. And in the main event, Ric Flair will once again take on Austin Idol. The Idol/Flair match will be a strap match with each man tied to a 12’ leather strap. Plus, there will be two other matches. Lance, The Lawler/Hogan match will not be an International Title match, because of a controversial match out West between Jerry and Manny Fernandez and we are waiting for an official decision from the AWA on it. These next few weeks are going to be an exciting time for us here, but it also could be a sad time for us. Only time will tell. Russell: Jerry, thank you for that information. Booooooyyyyy what a card we will have Monday Night! Fans, get your tickets early for this one! Heeeeeyyyyy, when we come back, The King will be in action! Match 4 Jerry Lawler def. Gene Ligon with a second rope fist drop. Russell: Ladies and gentlemen, The King! Jerrrrrrrry, I have to ask. Are you spreading yourself too thin? Lawler: Lance, that is a very fair question. As you know, my goal is to win the AWA World Championship before the end of the year. I have promised you, the fans here, and the people at home that if I don’t win the Title by the end of the year then I am done and I mean it. A lot has happened this year and I feel that this is the best chance I have of winning the Title. I knew that I would have to spread my wings and venture out into other territories to face the toughest competition in the world. But, never did I think I would have so many targets. In the Heartland, I’ve had trouble with my old nemesis Nick Bockwinkel, but also Manny Fernandez who may now be the International champion. I am waiting for a ruling from the AWA to rule on a controversial match between myself and Fernandez. Next, I find out that down in Southwestern Championship Wrestling, that crazy cousin of mine, Carl Fergie, is going around calling himself the King. Looks like I may have to go down there and settle things as well. And here, Cornette and Kaufman are threatening to take wrestling away from these great fans by buying ch.5 and the Mid-South Coliseum. Not to mention taking my crown and forcing me and Jerry Jarrett to kiss their feet. So, yes Lance, you could say I am being spread too thin. But, it is necessary and I will not allow all of this to distract me from my goals. I saw the workout Cornette’s guys had and yes it was impressive, but they weren’t in there against me, Idol, Tommy, or Dutch. And I may be mistaken, but I think I recognized the back of that guy that kept getting into the view of the camera, but I’m not sure. If it’s who I think it is, then we have our work cut out for us. We are four strong right now, we just need to find a good fifth member. And now that we know that it will be a Rage in the Cage, it gives me some ideas as to who we need as our fifth partner. I hope that next week I can announce our fifth member. I would like to ask one thing of Cornette though. Instead of a coin flip, I believe we should have a match to determine the advantage in the Rage in the Cage. I hope Cornette will see that a match is the fairest way to determine the team with the advantage. I guess we’ll hear from him next week. Lance, these are trying times… Russell: Excuse me King, but our director Scott is telling me something. It seems we have a phone call for you. (Lance reaches under the desk and pulls out a red rotary phone). Lawler: A phone call? Now? For me? (Picking up the receiver) Hello? Caller: Hiya Kingfish. Lawler: Dundee? Is that you? What do you want? Dundee: That’s right Kingfish, it’s yer old buddy the Superstar. Listen, I’m gonna keep it short ‘n sweet. Kingfish we’ve been down the road together for a long time. We’ve fought with each other and against each other. But Jerry, one thing is true. When the King and the Superstar are together, brother there ain’t no stopping us. I’ve been sittin on the sidelines the past couple of weeks lickin my wounds from the hair cut Slaughter gave me, but daddy I’m ready to come back and fight for Memphis against those lil twerps, Cornette and Kaufman. Kingfish, I want to be the fifth member of your team! I want to be there to save ch.5 and the Mid-South Coliseum. Memphis is my home and I’m ready to fight for her! Now I know you can’t give me an answer on short notice like this so, next week I’ll be right there at the ch.5 studios and you can give me an answer, yes or no. (Dundee hangs up) Lawler: (Amid a buzz in the studio audience) Wow Lance, that’s the last person I thought would ask to be a part of this. I need to talk to Idol, Rich, and Dutch, but I will definitely have an answer for Dundee next week. (Lawler walks off, wheels turning). Russell: Wooooooooaaahhhhhh fans, now that’s a shocker! I can’t wait to hear the King’s answer on that one! Weeeeeeell fans, it looks like our time is gone. Rrrrrremember to get your tickets early for Monday Night because it’s going to be a barrrrrrrrn burnnnnner!
