I need your help in the Winter draft....

So far the list I have together for the rookie draft of 1983.

If I have missed anyone or have someone in there that I shouldn't please let me know. I have used around 5-6 sources.

Reply #1 - Oct 28^th, 2012, 12:47pm Jim Backlund and Jimmy Del Ray are the same person While researching Leon White/Vader several sources have him debuting in '85. I also have seen him debuting in '83 and '84 Larry Nelson debuted as an announcer in '83 as well. He says so in his shoot interview.

That seems to cover what I've uncovered thus far and I was losing faith in the Vader early reference.

But, European & Mexican debut dates can be iffy as to what is considered a "pro" debut. Is William Regal 15 yet? I think tainees sometimes are on pro cards as young 'uns, plus IIRC Regal worked "pro" in sideshow type carnival gigs which still existed in UK tourist traps.

Smith Hart was wrestling for a long, long time, but back when I first ran Stampede, it was decided not to include him as active, same with Dean, because their wrestling careers were more spot shows throughout the years over regular steady shows. Basically it was a week run here, then nothing for a few months, then a show here, then nothing for a few months, etc, etc, etc.

I was under the impression he did some work around this time away from Stampede in the Caribbean (and Central America IIRC). I think Booker Huffman might have been in prison around this time. Anyway, he didn't start wrestling in Texas until 89ish. Bubba Douglas wrestled as Booker T, but he may actually be done by this point.
