Maple Leaf Wrestling presents
"SUPERSTARS OF WRESTLING"
All matches sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance - Vincent McMahon, President

Taped at the CHCH-TV (ch. 11) studios in Hamilton ON, Friday November 2nd.  Syndicated broadcast on regional channels.

We open the show with very quick intro's by Milt Avruskin & Sammy Menacker.

MA:  "Sam, I know that you prefer more wrestling, less talking - we are set for FIVE matches today!"

SM:  "Yes, Milton, we may have to skip over one of your scintillating interviews.  In a bit of a surprise development, the Von Steiger Brothers have insisted on a top-flight tune-up match...Mr. Kimber is ready with the particulars".

Norm in the ring with all four wrestlers ready to go.

Match 1 - Von Steigers def. Sweet Daddy Siki & Steven Little Bear
One fall 15 minutes

Sam sighs as Little Bear takes the mic.

SLB:  "I am REAL happy Sweet Daddy is tagging with me today BUT I have my OWN partner arriving soon.  Its too late, we couldn't get together before the tag tournament was set, but we'll be looking for you two fellows when the time is right..."

Kurt is an impatient sort - he gives Little Bear a push and the ref calls for the bell.

SM:  "Chief Little Bear better hope that the Von Steigers leave him in good enough shape for whenever his partner shows up.  Oh well, at least he's tagging with the big hero, Mr. Siki, who has had to save the Chief's scalp once already against the Germans".

Kurt & Karl are playing pinball with Little Bear - quick tags, a titch of double-teaming.

MA:  "Sweet Daddy Siki has wrestled very well lately.  But, the Von Steigers are keeping ready for the TITLE match Nov. 10th at the Gardens".

Steven is flagging a bit, Siki pops in to break up a double-team.  Can you believe it, this backfires, as the ref tends to the good guy, the bad guys are acting VERY badly.

SM:  "Don't forget, a week after the tag title match, Kurt Von Steiger contends for the Heavyweight belt.  We'll find out on the 10th who emerges between "Gentleman" Jerry Valiant and Kiniski".

Referee Wayne Cashman has finally caught enough of the Von Steiger chicanery to issue warnings.  Little Bear has tagged Siki who enters to a CHEER.  Now BOOING!

MA:  "Oh dear, Wayne's back was turned, he never saw a tag & instructs Little Bear to get back in...By the way, Sam, Steven Little Bear does NOT refer to himself as a chief..."

Don't fall off your chair - the Von Steigers made a phantom switch as this went on.  Karl is kareless with his upperkuts - he drives Little Bear towards his corner & Sweet Daddy emphasizes the tag.  Karl emphasizes what a big koward he is, begging for mercy.

SM:  "The fans are really on Siki's bandwagon, Milton".

"Mr. Irresistible clears the ring and treats the front row to a noggin-knocker up close on the floor.  He throws KURT in & tries a Full-Nelson.

MA:  "Who's the legal man, who's the legal man?"

Sweet Daddy thinks he's that close to a submission!  Cashman is being beseeched by Karl to THINK, DUMKOPF!  And very convincingly - Cashman gets a break and as he makes an apologetic explanation to Siki...the Von Steigers fly in with a double-clothesline (darn near steamrolled our official).  Kurt clobbers SLB off the apron as Karl's trunk pulling helps in the pin of Siki!

A bragadocious armraise!  Siki sees his partner crumpled on the deck and utters some stern words.

COMMERCIAL 1 - "Superstars of Wrestling" brought to you in part this week by Toyota Canada...Oh, what a feeling!

Norm hopes everyone had a safe & happy Hallowe'en, and live action is headed this week to Kenora, Sudbury & Sault Ste. Marie.  Out comes Beautiful Bruce, duded up in his white disco suit & rakish matching hat.

BB:  "I'm out here to DOUBLE-CHECK, to TRIPLE-CHECK, we don't get another switcheroo, another RINGER brought out like JOHNNY POWERS was sprung on us!  Who is in the next match, Normie-poo?"

Norm answers with the intro.

Match 2 - THE Hangman vs. Joe Marcus
One fall 15 minutes

BB:  "Okay, let's make SURE its this Marcus character - then I'll bring my Hangman out.  If we had KNOWN we were facing Powers last week, you can bet your sweet bippy, we'd have had a game plan!"

Marcus jogs out...OOOOH!  Right behind is THE Hangman - he clips Joe good with his knotted rope!

We get some order & the match is underway with Bruce crowing what a brain trust he's assembled.  The much larger Hangman offers up his most proficient effort yet!  A series of scoopslams & a rather short match ends in pinfall.

SM:  "Beautiful Bruce is DELIRIOUS!  Does that break some sort of LOSING streak, Milton?"

MA:  "I believe they ARE off the schneid, Sam!  That was a quick match, we'll squeeze this in before the break..."

VTR with Killer Kowalski, flanked by Baron Mikel Scicluna and Killer Joe Nova.

KK:  "For you Canadians that NEVER know what day of the week it is, Killer Kowalski's Wrestling School is a HUGE enterprise and its our FALL session.  We've been really busy at our palatial complex.  I've had these two working as guest instructors.  But I got a panicky call from "Whiner" Billy Watson.  I guess the TV ratings are slipping and he wanted me to head back up for next week's show.  So, see you knuckleheads then"

END VTR

COMMERCIAL 2

Match 3 - Black Angus Campbell vs. The Golden Terror
One fall 15 minutes

GT in the ring first and seems a bit leery as the large, shaggy man in the kilt enters.  Terror does terribly at several hook-ups.  With a roar each time, Campbell keeps tossing him down.

SM:  "Campbell has been around a while - sometimes he's Black Angus, sometimes Wild Angus.  And I think there is confusion where he actually hails from - is it Ireland, Scotland or England?"

MA:  "I understand he has resided in all three countries and was still a teenager when he had his first pro match".

Desperately, the man in the mask tries flying with a bounce off the ropes to try...well, something.  Angus has caught him in mid-air and a thunderous slam leads to our pin.

COMMERCIAL 3

Milt has an interview today!  He is in the interview area with Chris Tolos.

MA:  "Chris, one Jerry Valiant blew into this territory with some sort of attitude.  And you were the first one to answer the bell against a very tough hombre".

CT:  "Don't worry about being discreet about what "Gentleman" Jerry did to me in Maple Leaf Gardens, Milt.  He put a whupping on me.  And GOOD!  I had to miss some matches, I was banged up some.  But, I'm going to be back on next week's show".

MA:  "Any idea what has prompted Valiant's rampage?"

CT:  "Well you said he has an attitude, a BAD one.  Maybe the guys in the tag picture should be happy we only have ONE Valiant brother - I hear he's not on good terms with the others..."

MA:  "The fans in Hamilton will be cheering you on next week, I'm sure, as you face young Pete Doherty".

Now we have Norm Kimber in the ring with Rip Hawk and The Hollywood Bombshells.

NK:  "I don't know if there was a plan or not, Rip, but your men are in the next two matches...we DID hear from you LAST week, SO..."

So, Jerry Brown grabs the mic as Rip turns to show THE PROFILE (is there a MIRROR somewhere he's found?)

JB:  "SO?  You think its OK some Canadian punk gets away with calling us GERALDINE?  And VICKI?"

Vic Rossitani leans in.

VR:  "Ron Ritchie might TRY to get away with it, Jerry, but he WON'T!  Ritchie, we'll get to you soon enough - and we don't dye our hair!"

Fans' chants turn to cheers as "Downtown" Denny Brown steps through the ropes.  Referee Terry Yorkston hustles the extra bodies out.

Match 4 - Vic Rossitani w/ Rip Hawk vs. "Downtown" Denny Brown
One fall 15 minutes

MA:  "Sam, did Rip Hawk suffer some sort of neck injury in his career?  He keeps locking up in that sideways thingie..."

SM:  "That is the famous PROFILE!"

MA:  "And Mr. Hawk is apparently related to current wrestling star "Nature Boy" Ric Flair..."

SM:  "Oh, you might have some trouble verifying some of those stories, Milton.  Why, I could claim to be cousins with The Great Malumba!"

Denny Brown is buoyed by the overwhelming support.  He shows off a nifty crucifix takeover, but on the mat Vic gets his weight advantage in play.

MA:  "The much larger Rossitani seems focussed on keeping the young high-flyer grounded!  It is definitely a size mismatch, but Denny is VERY game...oh, referee Yorkston sees the choke by Vic!"

SM:  "I know Commissioner Watson is having PLENTY of people telling him his job, but getting the fellows like Denny here, and that LOUD Rock & Roller guy more matches in their own weight division is the best thing for everybody".

As Rossitani is being lectured, Jerry Brown is up trying to distract Denny, but no success there.  Fans chant "GERALDINE" causing the foot-stamping, hands over ears routine, with Rip demanding silence in a VERY brusque manner.

Denny pushes out of a headlock & tries to speed things up with a criss-cross.  Vic slows things down to a screeching halt as he gets a big size-12 into Denny's kisser & a pin.

We cut away with much celebrating by the bad guys.

COMMERCIAL 4

Norm introduces today's wind-up.

Match 5 - Jerry Brown w/ Rip Hawk vs. Mr. Florida
One fall 15 minutes

MA:  "We've had some quick matches today so have a full 15 minutes available...well, maybe a little less.  We'll keep an eyere on timekeeper Bronco Alcock".

SM:  "I must say, Rip Hawk has gotten a couple of advantageous match-ups.  This is not as big a size differential as Rossitani had, but this masked Mr. Florida is also a Light-Heavyweight".

The fellow with the sharp red/white/blue color scheme is faring well, though.  Geraldi...I mean Jerry is not happy as he pouts with his team.  Yes, Mr. Rossitani is lurking omenously.

MA:  "It is no secret that Hawk is here on the NWA's behest, I HOPE that doesn't mean he is involved in match-making decisions!"

Brown is in & we have a protracted tie-up, with Brown persevering in getting Mr. Florida panhandled in the buckles.

MA:  "Oh, goodness!  Brown is getting warned for using the mask to slam his opponent's head to the hard turnbuckle...and Rossitani is choking the man with the tag rope!  And Hawk is preening like...like he just made the cover of Maclean's Magazine!"  (not-so-obscure Canadian reference there)

And out comes a fuming Denny Brown!  He pulls Vic from the apron by the leg but is paying for his bravery!

MA:  "Fans, we have to take this break!"

We cut away with Rip assisting Vic...out comes Ron Ritchie!

COMMERCIAL 5

MA:  "Fans, while we were at our break, the other Maple Leaf referees came out to restore order - the extra wrestlers, Ritchie, Rossitani & Denny Brown have been sent to the back.  But RIP HAWK remains, as he insists his status as Jerry Brown's licenced manager gives him that right!"

SM:  "I suppose Mr. Hawk knows all the loopholes - but the distraction gave Mr. Florida an opening".

Indeed, the mystery masked man has Jerry on the mat & cinched in a body-scissors.  Fans cheer as JB is pounding his feet on the mat in pain.  He eventually works to a dramatic handstand to spring free.  He springs off the ropes with a leg-drop.  That Mr. Florida saw coming!  Hard contact of posterior to mat leaves Brown wincing.

Mr. Florida comes from behind and...looks like a Cobra Clutch variation.  As he pulls Jerry up, Brown hits a desperation jawjacker.

SM:  "That hit the masked guy right on the button - he's still down as Brown struts around the ring, pointing to his immense brain, I suppose..."

MA:  "I think he's also shaking off the cobwebs a bit, Sam.  Mr. Florida made a good showing, but as you say, he might be out, cold as yesterday's porridge".

Brown drags him to his feet in a reverse headlock - apparently the ref strongly suspects choking - but just as a warning was coming, Jerry Brown hits a swinging neck-breaker.  A one-handed pin draws the crowd's ire.

SM:  "Back to back Bombshell victories today, but they are making a LOT of enemies!"

MA:  "That's our show for today, fans, we'll have more "Superstars of Wrestling" action next week, same time, same place!"

Loved the reference to the "relation of Hawk to Flair". Good showing by Hawk's charges. The Von Steigers getting a good tag win while keeping Siki strong is good booking. Bruce has good reason to be dwelling on Powers. Glad to see a continued focus on Chris Tolos here.

Great show.
