"GEORGIA CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING"
TAPED: SATURDAY MORNING, NOVEMBER 3, 1982 @ 10 AM
WTBS -TV STUDIOS ATLANTA, GEORGIA
BROADCAST: SATURDAY NIGHT, NOVEMBER 3, 1982 @ 6:05-8:05

ANNOUNCERS: JIM ROSS, RICH LANDRUM, FREDDIE MILLER
REFEREE: NICK PATRICK

Ross and Landrum welcome the fans to the show.

Sweet Brown Sugar and Roberto Soto are out right after the welcome. They demand to know where Kurt Von Hess and Karl Von Shotz were this past week in Brunswick. Sir Oliver Humperdink comes out and says his men were enjoying some R & R in Florida and encountered travel problems getting to Georgia. Von Hess quickly comes out and says German women are better than empty headed Americans. He and his comrade should have come and bashed some heads in.

Sugar says there is always today. George Scott comes out and says that the billy clubs can be set up in the corners. First team that gets to the opponent’s club can use it. Humperdink and Von Hess argue but are told they have to comply. Von Hess whispers something to Humperdink. The manager smiles and agrees.

Ross says that the winner of the Gunkel Memorial is up next. Don’t go away.

RONNIE GARVIN defeats TED PETTY with a fist drop from the middle rope @ 5:39.

Garvin meets Landrum at ringside. He has the Gunkel Memorial belt slung over his shoulder. Landrum mentions that Garvin will have the chance to build off his win in a fantastic way in Rome, GA this week. He will be challenging Wahoo McDaniel for the AWA title. The fans cheer. Garvin says he will do everything he can to cash in on that momentum. He thanks Ann Gunkel for all her support during The Memorial. Garvin holds up The Memorial belt and he says that he and these fans can do anything if they are together. The fans roar their approval.

Landrum says Wrestling II got a big win over Mad Dog Buzz Sawyer this past week. The masked man is next.

MR. WRESTLING II defeats KILLER KARL KRUPP with a running knee lift @ 6:05.

II speaks with Ross at the desk. They look at the clip from Brunswick, where Sawyer slams his collared chain into a ring post. The rebound puts Mad Dog out. Wrestling II and the announcer enjoy a chuckle, at that point. II says that he loves man’s best friend but Buzz Sawyer is one dumb animal. The fans laugh along.

Ross says “Miller Time” is next.

MILLER TIME
HOSTED BY: FREDDIE MILLER

Miller announces that the Annual Thanksgiving Night Tag Team Tournament will take place at The Omni on November 22. Ole, Gene, and Arn Anderson come out and enter the ring to help Miller analyze the teams that are being revealed today. More teams will come later.

MASKED SUPERSTAR/PAUL ORNDORFF- Ole: What can you say about the ability of these men? Being involved too heavily in singles competition could hurt them in any tag competition if they go deep.
MIDNIGHT EXPRESS:-Gene: If these guys get their third man set to combat Brazil and Co., they could be tough to figure out.
KURT VON HESS/KARL VON SHOTZ-Arn: Take out Humperdink and those guys are toast.

Gene and Ole give the younger Anderson a stern look.

TONY ATLAS/BOBO BRAZIL: Ole: Wild card teams are tough to figure. Keep it simple and out mat Atlas or Brazil. Shouldn’t be hard to do.
STEVE REGAL/SPIKE HUBER: Gene: Xerox copies of any pretty boy team. Second stringers. The Varsity and the JV are separate for a reason.

Regal and Huber are out to the ring with those comments. The three Andersons have the numbers advantage here but that doesn’t seem to bother Regal and Huber. Miller manages to cool off the situation and bring the segment to a close.

Tiger Mask is featured in a series of action clips. The end of the loop has a graphic: COMING TO THE COLUMBUS MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM

NORVELL AUSTIN w/RANDY ROSE defeats MIKE BOYETTE with a brainbuster @ 6:22.

The Midnight Express members talk to Landrum at ringside. Rose says that the rivalry against Regal, Rose, and Brazil will be put aside while his “brother” goes against “the junior member of the Justice League” in Columbus. Austin says there is a lot of talk who the third member of The Midnight Express will be to beat “those three cheaters”. Maybe, it will be the AWA World Junior Heavyweight belt in our corner.

Ross says the main event is next.

BILLY CLUBS ON A POLE MATCH
SWEET BROWN SUGAR/ROBERTO SOTO vs. KURT VON HESS/KARL VON SHOTZ w/SIR OILVER HUMPERDINK

Sugar is the first wrestler to climb the pole and get the club. An attendant takes down the pole and club that were defended in the faces corner. They are taken to the back. The tag rules are still in effect but the shots that are taken legally with the club help Sugar and Soto. Humperdink whines throughout.

After Von Shotz is busted open, El Gran Apollo comes out. He has the other club. He gives it to his manager. Hump tosses it to Von Hess. It gives the Germans a DQ loss @ 8:37 but it is worth it to them. Eventually, both Von Hess and Von Shotz get the sticks. Sugar and Soto are left lying in the ring by the time Ronnie Garvin clears the ring with a chair.

END OF THE FIRST HOUR

“GEORGIA CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING”
SECOND HOUR

Ross and Landrum start the hour by reviewing the Brunswick win by Roddy Piper over Dick Slater in a Bunkhouse Match. Piper comes out and does his usual taunting and gloating. He is soon confronted by Slater. Mr. Unpredictable makes the point that only a man who wears a skirt would take pride in using powder to win a “Man’s Man” match. Piper is fuming with that comment and is goaded by Slater into putting up the Georgia title in the main event of this hour. Ross hears in his earpiece that George Scott is willing to get it done.

Ross says the HOH is in tag action next.

A promo from Wahoo McDaniel airs before the first match. The AWA champ has some choice words for Ronnie Garvin. Yes, Garvin, you did hit me and knock me out at The Gunkel Memorial. No excuses, there. But this week, in Rome, the World belt will be on the line. It will be like comparing a win in the early NFL season to a win in the playoffs. There is no tomorrow if I lose this strap. Deal with that.

EL GRAN APOLLO/THE DREAM MACHINE w/SOH defeat JOEL DEATON/BILLY FRANCIS after Apollo almost decapitates Francis with a top rope clothesline @ 6:00.

Humperdink lets Dream do his own talking. The masked man says that Nick Busick got lucky in Dalton, Georgia, where he got a win. It is lot like being a big time gambler. When the payoff comes, it will make the losing along the way worth it. Dream hands the mike to Apollo. Gran says: “Garvin, MIIINNNE”. Humperdink says The Final English Frontier continues.

Speaking of games of chance, Superstar Billy Graham has been behind the eight ball lately, according to Landrum. He is out next.

SUPERSTAR BILLY GRAHAM defeats BARRY HOROWITZ with an over-the-shoulder backbreaker @ 7:00.

At the desk, Ross, Landrum, and Graham look at clips of Antonio Inoki and The Sheik trying to get the bounty money that Sir Oliver Humperdink has put up to take Graham out of Georgia Championship Wrestling. Graham says that Humperdink knows that the Superstar is on a “trek of destiny”. He will take the National Television Title from Ron Bass. He doesn’t care if he has to take out all of the AWA to do it. During the match, Graham seems uncomfortable around the bandage where The Sheik burned his shoulder in Dalton.

Ross brings up Bass and says the TV Title is on the line when Big Swede Hanson steps up after “The Voice of Georgia”.

“THE VOICE OF GEORGIA”
HOSTED BY: RICK LANDRUM

Landrum is still at the desk. He was told that the time this week has been purchased by one of the GCW roster members. Landrum says that must have cost them a pretty penny, whoever it is. Those advertising rates don’t come cheap. Right on cue, Paul Orndorff comes out in a killer three piece suit. He is carrying two brightly wrapped small packages.

He gives Landrum one of the gifts. He says that “The Total Package” takes care of his friends. Landrum opens the box and takes out a Rolex. He is totally blown away. Orndorff says he is dressed to the hilt and anybody around him should be, as well. Landrum says he doesn’t mean to seem like he doesn’t appreciate his gift but he wants to know what is in the other box.

Orndorff says he has entered into a “new financial agreement” and has some discretionary money. He has a “peace offering” for Tony Atlas. Orndorff says he has a “business meeting with his new benefactor” and he has to leave. He asks Landrum to make sure “Big Tony” gets the gift. Paul leaves.

It takes a little time but Atlas does come out.  He says he doesn’t trust Orndorff but he does like presents as much as anybody. He opens up the box and, sure enough, it is also a watch. Tony’s eyes bug out and he slams the watch to the floor. He storms off. Landrum picks up the busted time piece. It is….. A MICKEY MOUSE WATCH.

Landrum closes the segment.

NATIONAL TELEVISION TITLE
COWBOY RON BASS © w/SIR OLIVER HUMPERDINK vs. SWEDE HANSON

Swede Hanson gives a great showing here but luck seems to be against him. He falls through the ropes to the WTBS studio floor. He tweaks his knee. Bass keys in and, eventually, uses an Indian Death lock to get a submission @ 8:13.

Bass won’t break and Ross sounds the bell for help. Graham comes out and clears the ring. The House members bail but Graham is holding the burn again.

Slater vs. Piper for the Georgia Heavyweight Title is next.

GEORGIA HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE
RODDY PIPER © vs. DICK SLATER

Nick Patrick takes a hard bump in the corner, when Piper moves on a corner splash. Slater slows down some, as to not hit the ref full out. Piper uses the chance to grab his bagpipes from the announce desk. He tries to hit Slater.  Slater catches him with an uppercut forearm to the salad croutons. Piper drops the pipes and Slater’s eyes get wide open. He bulldogs the champ on the instrument. Patrick comes around and counts three @ 10:04. (One commercial break)

DICK SLATER IS THE NEW GEORGIA HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION!

Piper, once again, is shown shedding tears over the destruction of his culture. This time, though, he has no belt to wipe his tears. Ross and Landrum close the show.

Great TV!  Garvin/Wahoo will be good...Great win and interview from II...Love that you are continuing the Thanksgiving Night tag tourney tradition and the teams look good so far...Austin/Tiger Mask will be a fresh match-up...SBS/Soto will get revenge...SBG looked good, but the bounty hunters are taking their toll...Hope Atlas kept that watch, do you know what they are going for today?  LOL...Bass still has a tight grip on the strap...Congrats to Slater on the big win...Nice work Johnny!
