NWA Florida TV 10/3/82 - Mike up, Hammer's time?
Nov 5th, 2012, 4:54pm

Championship Wrestling from Florida presents: Southern Championship Wrestling
Telecast 11/3/82 across the Sunshine State with Gordon Solie, Buddy Colt, and Barbara Cleary

*All matches sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance*

Interviews and Announcements:
-      Southern Champion Barry Windham tells Gordon that he wasn’t surprised that Jake Roberts would find some way to weasel into the title match last Wednesday night in Miami. “What did shock me was that he’s willing to make one of the largest men in this sport an enemy. The One Man Gang pushed me like no other challenger for this title has and you and the rest of the Legion of Doom went and made that monster angry. I don’t know whether I should thank you or feel sorry for you Jake. Because when the One Man Gang gets a hold of you, you’re gonna wish you never made him mad.”

-      Jesse Barr and Mike George, the freshly minted Florida Tag Team Champions, tell Barbara that now that the Malenko brats are in the rear view mirror, “we are back on the trail of those two Texas Twinkies, the heinous half-breed Gina Hernandez and Girlish Jenny Garvin. Mike and I have proven we are in a class alone here in Florida and we are gunning for those World Tag Titles. So you can flutter your eyelashes and poof your hair to look pretty. We’re gonna whip your butts and wipe the blood off the belts after we’re done with you.”

-      Jake Roberts, minus the Legion of Doom today, tells Buddy that he had told everyone that nothing would stand between him and the Southern Title and not even a member of the Legion of Doom could stand in his way. Roberts then says he wants Windham again, Thanksgiving Night in Fort Lauderdale. “Now Windham, I know you can hear me.  And I know that if you had any guts, you’d be out here so I can tell you to your face that I am the better man. You think the claw your old man taught you is going to break me? A snake doesn’t break. It only survives to strike another day.”

-      Butch Reed tells Buddy that a count out against Kevin Sullivan isn’t good enough. “I had that devil beat. I’d whipped him bloody with my strap and beat him black and blue. If you hadn’t been such a chicken and run away, I’d have finished my night as Florida Heavyweight Champion.” Out to the set walks Greg Valentine and he tells Reed that he’s had his chance at Sullivan. “Now Bruce, you need to let a real wrestler get a shot at that freak. I’m a former NWA World Champion and unlike you, I walked out of Miami Halloween night as a winner. I think I have more than proven myself worthy of facing that muscled up shrimp Sullivan and I will prove that someone can take that title from around his waist.”

-      Gordon brings out Brian Blair who tells how his partner Brutus Beefcake had to be take to the hospital in Miami after the match with Jonathan Boyd and the Missing Link. Brian reveals that Brutus is being held under a psychological evaluation currently and release is questionable. Gordon then welcomes the man that saved Brian from a brutal beating, Mike Graham. Mike tells how it’s great to be back on Southern Championship Wrestling and has a message for some people. “Warlord Boyd, Missing Link, you may have cost a man his career after what King Curtis did to Brutus Beefcake. I’m glad I was there to help Brian out and I’m going to take extra pleasure is helping him run you two out of Florida. Because I know what it’s like to fight your way back from an injury. I’ve been gone for almost 6 months because of what Mike George and Jesse Barr did to me, so I want the new Florida Tag Team champions to take a good look. You two thought you had broken me. Well I’m back and very soon, you’ll need to look over your shoulders because Brian Blair and I will be coming for those belts.”

Matches for this telecast:
-      “Hacksaw” Brett Sawyer defeats “Bulldog” Bob Brown with a side Russian leg sweep.

-      Florida Tag Champions Barr and George defeat Cowboy Parker and Tony Falk in a non-title match after Mike delivered a shoulder breaker to Parker.

-      Florida Television Champion “Professor” Bill Ash defeats Omar Atlas with an Arkansas Whiplash to retain the title.

-      Greg Valentine defeats the Nightmare with a figure four leg lock.

-      Brian Blair and Mike Graham defeat Black Bart and “Outlaw” Don Bass after Mike locked Bart into a sleeper hold. Jesse Barr and Mike George hit the ring after the bell and tried to attack the duo, but were fought off by Blair and Graham as the telecast ended.

Good show, nice "TV show" type results, very productive.  The heels are looking pretty strong, Graham & Blair teaming up is a nice start.

Things have a nice, easy, organized feel.  Brutus getting his head shrunk?  Will we have access to what HIS brain scan reveals?
