"Portland Wrestling", 11/10/82
Nov 9th, 2012, 6:18pm

“Portland Wrestling”
Sports Arena
Portland, OR
11/10/82

Don Coss and Dutch Savage are in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “Dutch, we are ten days away from the ‘Portland Special’. Is your striped shirt dry cleaned?”

Savage, “You bet I do. This is going to be a great night of wrestling, and I plan on keeping things fair in the tag team title match.”

Coss, “The Northwest Tag Team Title match is just one match a week from Tuesday, we’ll talk about them all tonight and let you know about several more matches that have been added. We have some great matches tonight. We have a wild tag team match, Joe Lightfoot and Billy White Cloud meet the rugged Davidson Brothers, and in our main event, Ed Wiskoski takes on ‘Flying’ Fred Curry. Let’s get to the ring for our opening contest.”

Match #1
Rocky Della Serra def. Buck Ramstead, w/Rolling Reverse

Jimmy Snuka, Billy Jack and Stan Stasiak join Coss and Savage in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “With us are three men who are chomping at the bit to get to the ring on the 17th. Jimmy Snuka, Billy Jack and Crusher Stasiak, you all have signed matches for the big ‘Portland Special’, but maybe not the matches you wanted. Billy and Stan, you meet the Davidson Brothers in tag team action, and Jimmy you take on ‘Kangaroo’ Bob Heffernan. I know you all want title shots.”

Stasiak, “We do Don, everyone knows that. Billy and I have been patient, but we won’t be for long. Whoever wins the tag title match, and I’m betting on Matt and Steve, will have to wrestle us. That’s what we’re waiting for.”

BJ, “That’s right! The Crusher and I have done all we can do to earn the title shot, we’ll wait for next time, but that shot is ours!”

Coss, “Jimmy, you already know you have a title shot coming. The Saturday after the ‘Portland Special’ you take on Rip Oliver. It will either be a Northwest Title match, or a World Title match.”

Snuka, “Either way bruddah, either way! Rip Oliver, I have you in my sights, and I’ll beat you!””

Coss, “It’s going to be a hot winner in the Northwest! Let’s see Jimmy Snuka in action.”

Match #2
Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka def. El Bracero, w/Superfly splash

Matt Bourne and Steve Pardee are with Coss and Savage in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “With are the two gentlemen who have the chance of a lifetime in ten days. Matt, Steve, this could be your golden opportunity.”

Pardee, “Matt and I are ready. We know how good Rose and Wiskoski are good, but we have a plan in mind.”

Coss, “You know that Heffernan, or even Oliver might stick his nose into things.”

Bourne, “We know that, and we’ve prepared. Steve gave Rose all he wanted last week, and that’s going to play into our hands also.”

Coss, “Dutch, would you like to say anything?”

Savage, “Yes I do. Look Steve, Matt, I will call this thing right down the middle. I’m going to make sure Wiskoski and Rose don’t cheat, but I’m not favoring anyone. You’re going to get the same treatment as they get.”

Bourne, “That’s all we ask.”

Coss, “Let’s see these two in action.”

Match #3
Matt Bourne and Steve Pardee def. Pat McGinnis and the Masked Gladiator, Bourne w/Stump Puller vs. Gladiator

“Playboy” Buddy Rose and the Army are in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “With us are a group of men who are going to be very busy in the next ten days. Buddy Rose, you Ed Wiskoski have a big tag team title defense, and Rip Oliver, you have a chance to win the NWA World Title. Are you prepared?”

Rose, “Of course we are, but I want to talk to Savage. I heard you out here kissing up to Bourne and Rose! I’ll tell you one thing, if you cheat us, my lawyers are going to sue you for everything you got, if you have anything!”

Savage, “You cry more than my three year old niece, and I know she’s tougher than you are. I told the other two, both teams will have a fair chance, you don’t want that. You can’t win like that.”

Rose, “Listen to me old man…”

Coss, “Let’s move on. Rip Oliver, you get another shot at dusty Rhodes. Last time , things didn’t work out well for you.”

Oliver, “You mean when Rhodes broke every rule in the book! I had him beat, it’ll happen this time! I’m ready for all his illegal moves!”

Coss, “It’s going to be an exciting night. Mr. Wiskoski will be in our main event, later in the program. Now let’s go to the ring for our tag team match.”

Match #4
The Davidson Brothers def. Joe Lightfoot and Billy White Cloud, w/Double team vs. White Cloud

Coss, “Our main event is next.”

Main Event, Two out of Three Falls
“Flying” Fred Curry vs. Ed Wisksoski w/”Playboy” Buddy Rose

First Fall-
Curry starts quickly. The veteran from Hartford, CT. uses his quickness to confuse Wiskoski. Rose shouts instructions and he becomes frustrated as well. Things look good for Curry until Wiskoski shows the pace and uses his size and strength. Wiskoski catches Curry in a piledriver and wins the first fall.
Winner-Ed Wiskoski

Coss and Wiskoski are in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “Fans, we are ten days away from the big ‘Portland Special’. The card is in place, and I have to say, it’s one of the biggest I’ve seen in my time in the Northwest. Let’s run down the matches that have just been added.

Billy Jack and Stan Stasiak meet the Davidson Brothers

Jimmy ‘Superfly’ Snuka takes on ‘Kangaroo’ Bob Heffernan

Rocky Della Serra meets Doug Somers

That’s enough right there, but there is so much more.

Andre the Giant takes on Chris Colt

In a match refereed by my partner, the Northwest Tag Team Titles are on the line. ‘Playboy’ Buddy Rose and Ed Wiskoski are challenged by Matt Bourne and Steve Pardee

And in the main event, Rip Oliver, the Northwest Champion, challenges Dusty Rhodes for the NWA World Title, what a card!

Savage, “This is one of the greatest cards in Portland history. Don Owen has outdone himself. I am very happy to be part of it.”

Coss, “Before we go back to the ring, let’s talk about nest week’s ‘Portland Wrestling’. We have two big announcements. First of all, Andre the Giant will be here, in action, next Saturday. If you haven’t seen him on TV, or in person, you have to be here, or at least tune in. You have to see him to believe him. Now on to the main event. What a tag team match we have. Rip Oliver teams up with Buddy Rose to take on Dusty Rhodes and Billy Jack. That is a main event in any arena in the world, and we’re putting it on TV.”

Savage, “The old fox, Don Owen, is at it again . The people in New York wanted this match, but they wanted it for Madison Square Garden, they wouldn’t put it on TV. Don Owen bid on it, won it and is putting it on TV. You fans are very lucky.”

Coss, “Next week will be great, but we have one, or two more falls this week.”

Second Fall-Curry gives it his all, but Wiskoski is too much. He hits the falling headbutt for the win. Rose and Wiskoski celebrate in the ring, but will they celebrate in ten days?
Winner-Ed Wiskoski

Bourne and Pardee continue to impress but I can't wait for Stasiak and Haynes to get their shot. Wiskoski with a solid win over a game Curry.

Great show.

Interviews great as always.....

The buildup for the Portland Special is solid, and it looks like a great card that I am excited to see.....

Loved how you talked about New York wanting next week's main event, nice touch there.....

You've built up Stasiak and Haynes to the point they are most definitely next in line, and the fans would demand they get a shot at the belts.  Good job of making us want to see it.

Just great as always Tom.
