On a blustery November evening, the venerable barn at the corner of Church & Carlton Streets provides a beacon for wrestling fans of the bustling metropolis.  Excited fans have plenty to chatter about in the lobby, as they stop by the Royal Canadian Legion stands to make sure they have a poppy to wear on the eve of Remembrance Day.  Did you see on TV today that wild attack by a mysterious masked man?

Ring announcer Norm Kimber urges the fans to take their seats and settle in for professional wrestling excitement.  All matches are 30 minute time limit, save the CO-Main Events - ONE HOUR ime limit!  Your NWA appointed officials this evening will be Terry Yorkston and Wayne Cashman.  After the playing and singing of "O Canada", the bell is chiming!

MATCH 1 - Masked Mr. Florida in the red/white/blue themed ensemble awaits Beautiful Bruce Productions staging the entrance of THE Hangman bringing in Malumba in on his rope.  Beast-master Brucie whacks away with his riding crop to get big Mal pointed in the right direction.  Fun & games end rapidly as the colorful garb helps the oafish African zero in on his target.  The much smaller Floridian is crumpled in a bearhug, then then tidily pressed flat with a splash.  No skullduggery required by cornermen Bruce & Hangman other than insisting on a FIVE count pin.
RESULT - The Great Malumba pins Mr. Florida @ 6:10

MATCH 2 - "Mean" Mike Miller continues to fly under the radar.  Tonight, he adds to his winning streak, finishing Marcus with a running power-slam.
RESULT - Mike  Miller pins Joe Marcus @ 6:30

MATCH 3 - A little extra in the introductions as the fans give some love for the Rock & Roller getting in the ring with fan fave Chris Tolos despite a freshly-bandaged skull.  Hollywood Bombshells enter with NO respect - fans boo as they beat the bell for an attack.  Rip Hawk keeps his confident gloat going as his peroxide pair are again quite vicious in victory.  A double shoulder-breaker prepares Chris Tolos for his pin.  After the armraise, the Bombshells risk a referee reversal with a stomping on Little Bear.
RESULT - Hollywood Bombshells def. Buck Zumhofe & Chris Tolos @ 10:20 (Jerry Brown pins Tolos)

MATCH 4 - Again with the BRUCIE chants as the Beautiful One leads out Armand Hussein and Sheik Ali.  Gilles Poisson's entry is spiced up with a waistlock from Sheik Ali ramming him into the apron as the ref was getting Hussein patted down.  Once in, Poisson shows spunk, heck he gets control of the match!  But Hussein is pinpoint as he starts a crisscross - kidneyshot from Ali to The Fish as he hits the ropes.  Bruce was the squawking decoy on the apron.

Gilles has had enough from treacherous Ali - he voluntarily exits & is scoring some solid body shots, dislodging the burnoose.  Hussein off the apron with a double axe-handle.  Poisson whips Hussein into Bruce!  YAYYY!  Ali bodyslams Gilles on the floor & stomps away!  BOOO!!!  Sweet Daddy, Ron Ritchie & Mike Allen for the save.  YAYY!
RESULT - Gilles "The Fish" Poisson vs. Armand Hussein DCO @ 10:00

MATCH 5 - Sweet Daddy was scheduled next & stays in the ring as The wild WOLFMAN is led out...hmmm, substituting for the usual Golden Terror is a well-build young guy in jeans & tee.  Arms of the tee are bulging!  He has dark hair in a crew cut and sort of a dopey smile.  He goes through the paces with Wolfie.  Great struggle to unchain him, now Wolfman wildly circling the ring, growling at the crowd.  He CHARGES the NEW GUY!  New guy shows a clothesline to the fuzzy mush & throws the man-beast in.

Crowd roars and Brutus...errr, THE NEW GUY grins and does some posing!  The ref determines (how?) Wolfman is good to go & Sweet Daddy puts on a show with the woolly wildman.  Control the pet population - by crotching Wolfie on a buckle!  Big airplane spin leads to a pin, then Siki chasing the varmint off after he got his leg chomped by the sore loser!
RESULT - Sweet Daddy Siki pins The Wolfman @ 11:10

INTERMISSION

MATCH 6 - We might have a preview from the next round of the TV tournament - Sheik Ali & Beautiful Bruce escort the masked rope-twirling Hangman - the lusty booing signals the stragglers to return to their seats.  Ritchie's entry signals he is becoming a favorite especially when he mocks Brucie & ignores Ali's threats.  Referee Yorkston is NO fan of THE Hangman's rope display, there are some chuckles as our official out-muscles Mr. H for the noose!

And Ritchie adds to a not-so-hot appearance for THE Hangman.  Dropkicks, hiptosses, whips & flying forearms or knees, armdrags, etc.  Sheik Ali is not looking enthused about his new stablemate.  As Hangman goes flying to the floor, only Bruce rushes over to dust him off.  Hangman returns for more abuse, this time on the mat.  The resthold bodyscissors & wristlock allow our attention to be diverted to Brucie pleading with Ali for help of some sort.  Ali is a haughty sort - he shrugs his shoulders, crosses arms on his chest, shakes his burnoose "no" & seems geuinely disinterested.  By the time Hangman is trapped in a rolling cradle, Ali has left the scene!
RESULT - Ron Ritchie pins THE Hangman @ 11:00

MATCH 7 CO-MAIN EVENT - Jerry Valiant enters with a disdainful air.  He ignores the booing & stays focussed when Gene Kiniski enters the ring & discards his "CANADA" sweatshirt.  Commissioner Watson is in & big Gene passes him the belt.  Referee Wayne Cashman holds it up as the crowd cheers.  And Valiant ignores the champ - he has a lot to say to Watson & Cashman, though.

We have a dandy tilt & the fans groan after ten minutes as Valiant hits some shortcuts & takes the momentum - a series of chops & uppercuts drives Gene out of the ring!   And Jerry strikes a victorious pose...then to the apron, double sledgehammer across the back and MORE posing!  A hard knee as he slams Kiniski's head is slung down...MORE slams - skull to apron.  The ref is making his count - with a panicky look to the Commish.

We have the bell - DOUBLE COUNT OUT!

APPARENTLY?  MAYBE?  Hold everything - Valiant is in the ring, snapping at the ref.  Watson steps in with the belt as Norm Kimber holds off on announcing ANY decision - mainly because Valiant has him by the lapels.  NOW Jerry grabs the belt and throws it to the canvas...and parks a boot on it & grabs the mic.

JV:  "If this stands as a NO CONTEST or COUNT OUT, Kiniski WILL NOT retain ANY belt because he isn't entitled to ANY belt.  He is NOT a defending champion here or ANYWHERE!  If you want to find out what trouble I can make with the NWA, how YOU will be a LAUGHING STOCK with your PAPER TIGER CHAMPION..."

Valiant has a good laugh as a bleeding Kiniski staggers in through the ropes.  He has a glazed look to Watson - who has just had the microphone rudely shoved at him.  Jerry keeps boot on the belt, crosses arms across the chest & is berating the FANS!

Watson looks to Kiniski, who shakes his head to clear it...NOW he shakes it YES.  Watson shouts:  "Ring the bell, the match will CONTINUE!"

Valiant turns - sneer replaced with a shocked look as Kiniski thunders a double sledge to the chest.   Kimber & Watson have belt & mic & scramble out.  Gene wraps a front bearhug on JV!  He wrenches, grinds, shakes & quakes.  Jerry tries face ripping an escape...but can take NO MORE!  Big cheer!  Gene throws Valiant out - BIGGER cheer!  Watson in, handshake, passes Kiniski a handkerchief to wipe his grisly forehead...THEN clips the belt around the waist.

RESULT - Gene Kiniski submits Jerry Valiant @ 13:50 (including mid-match conference)
KINISKI HAS DEFENDED THE NWA CANADIAN HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE & officially earns the top prize in MAPLE LEAF WRESTLING!

MATCH 8 CO-MAIN EVENT - Both the Von Steigers and Caribbean Sunshine Boys are eager to start, Johnny Kincaid & Karl kick things off.  The CSB's show synchronzation in the form of good ring position, smooth tags & a lively pace.  The bucolic Bavarians show years of team work by deceitful tactics, constant double-teaming and tring to make the pace a grinding one.  At 10:00, the scales are tipping in the brutes' favor.

Bond has been worked over in Von Steiger-land.  Every time Kincaid goes to rush in, the ref tends to him, allowing the tagrope to be wrapped around Bond's windpipe.  Butcher does capitalize on the referee's divided attention - the next time this maneuver is attempted, he wows Karl with a kick to the unmentionables & surprie back elbow clips Kurt.  As the referee returns, both brothers are in, pounding away - clearing this up allows Bond to roll to the floor.  Karl carries on complaing while Kurt sneaks after Bond.  Kincaid alertly intercepts and drops Kurt with an uppercut.  Bond has entered in his corner while Karl fumes at that craftiness.  But Kurt keeps Johnny of the apron, those two are rolling on the floor.  Winded & distracted Bond takes a slegehammer to the back of the head.  Karl steps to the apron and scores a boot to Johnny's head.

Kurt enters & by way of a shortcut to his corner, assists brother Karl in a double hiptoss sending Bond back where this all started.  Kurt makes a legal tag, Karl hits a backbreaker & Karl adds a legdrop on the vulnerable head.  Kincaid scrambles in too late, he is only able to help Bond from harm's way as the Germans latch on to their new prizes...even kissing them.
RESULT - The Von Steigers def. The Caribbean Sunshine Boys @ 14:10 (Kurt pins Bond)
NEW NWA CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS - KURT & KARL VONSTEIGER

The fans file out, focussing on the positives - AND Gene Kiniski can wipe the smirk off Kurt's ugly mug...next Saturday, in Thunder Bay.

Kiniski defended the Canadian honor well. Happy to see the Von Steigers as tag champs. Sheik Ali certainly doesn't need Bruce or anybody. Great showing by Ritchie again. Good to see Hawk's guys win but I was kinda sad that Tolos did the honors.

Great show.

Appreciate the notes.  I marked out for Chris Tolos as a lad (and John and Steve Bolus)...but add Chris's age to Kiniski's...well carry the one...holey schmoley!  The draft is next week, right? lol

I didn't mind starting with some older guys (considered Luis Martinez!) but we got some last hurrah's going on here, alas.

The Caribbean Sunshine Boys... they were in World of Sports, right?

I'm not terribly familiar with a good half your roster, but I like what I've seen so far. With the thin talent, you've been smart to build from the top down.

Yes, the Caribbean lads were big in Britain (which is not big on TT's).

This hobby is interesting and educational.  Whenever I see something "new" to me, it can be so productive if I dig a bit.  I had NO idea myself that The Great Malumba (as Kimala) held the Memphis belt, Hangman toured Japan regularly or Killer Joe Nova faced Backlund for the WWF belt in LA around this time.

I figure the real life promoters saw something with them.
