NWA Classics Stats for October 1982
Nov 11th, 2012, 3:52pm

I took a look at all the shows and numbers we posted with "live" dates in October.  below are the results of my findings:

First up, is TV Ratings.  I took the total number of views of tv shows for each promotion, and averaged them by the number of shows.  I then took the number and moved the decimal place over to create a "rating".

TV Ratings:

01.  AWA Las Vegas  12.3  (2 shows)
02.  AWA Windy City 11.1  (2 shows)
03.  NWA PNW  11.0  (4 shows)
04.  NWA WWC  10.1  (1 show)
05.  AWA Stampede  9.7  (1 show)
06.  AWA Heartland  9.1 (2 shows)
07.  AWA Southwest  8.7  (4 shows)
08.  AWA Georgia  8.6  (4 shows)
09.  NWA Maple Leaf  8.1  (4 shows)
10.  AWA ICW  7.6  (4 shows)
11.  NWA Florida  7.5  (2 shows)
12.  AWA Mid-South  7.1  (2 shows)
13.  AWA CWA  6.5  (4 shows)
14.  NWA Mid-Atlantic  5.9  (5 shows)
15.  AWA Continental  5.8 (2 shows)
16.  NWA WWF  5.0  (4 shows)
17.  NWA PWF  1.3 (1 show)

NWA Composite Rating:  7.0  (21 shows)
AWA Composite Rating:  8.7  (27 shows)

Average number of views for each and every tv show posted here:  79!

Trends:

So, looking at the numbers, a few things stood out that I want to share.....

-  I did this about a year ago, and I can tell you that views are most definitely up across the board this time vs. the last time I did this, so more people are reading more shows now than they were a year ago.

-  PNW is riding some up and down weeks.  The second week of the month was a much higher rating than the first week.  The Portland Special fell between the shows, and viewership looks like it spiked following that show to see the fallout.  Since week 2, the numbers fell in each of the following two weeks.

- MCW followed the same weekly trend as PNW.

-  As the month went on, views got lower, due to not as much time for the shows on the board vs. the older shows.  This skews the numbers, but this is fun for me to do anyway.

-  Maple Leaf on the other hand, had a very strong week 1, trailed off in weeks 2 and 3, and was back on the rise the last week of the month.

-  Southwest has consistently lost viewers as the weeks rolled by.

-  ICW started very strong, but has dropped viewers each week as well.

-  Georgia's numbers tell the same story as Southwest and ICW.

-  The WWF numbers were up and down....could possible be a case of what was actually on the program, as to whether viewers tuned in or out on a given week.

-  CWA started strong, then dropped off in the middle, and finds itself on the rise again in the last week.

-  Mid-South is showing progression in each week.....I think the only territory on a consistent rise.

-  Florida dropped from one week to the next.

-  PWF's low rating appears to be due to the fact that they only have one show with reported numbers for the month oof October, and it was just posted in the last few days.  The information for PWF is absolutely no reflection of it's true rating due to this fact.

-  WCCW was the only territory not included, as it is just now reporting numbers for the month of September.

Highest Attended House Shows in October:

01.  PNW's "Portland Special" on 10-02-82 drew 211 with a main event of NWA World Champion Dusty Rhodes defending against PNW Champion Rip Oliver.

02.  WWF at the Maple Leaf Gardens on 10-7-82 drew 128 with a main event of Dino Bravo vs. Bad News Allen.

03.  MACW on 10-7-82 drew 128.  This is the result of two shows with two different main events.

04.  - TIE - Florida drew 110 on 10/08 with a main event of Greg Valentine vs. Kevin Sullivan in a non-title matchup.

04.  - TIE - Georgia drew 110 for a run of shows between 10/7 and 10/11 with various main events.

06.  Southwest drew 102 on 10-7 to see the main event of Blackjack Mulligan vs. Big John Studd.

07.  ICW drew 69 on 10-08-82 for it's United States Tag Team Title Tournament.

Guys, I look at these numbers and feel good.  They are up across the board from the last time I did this, comments numbers seem to be up, and we had 17 tv shows to draw numbers from.  That is an impressive number of active shows at one time.  We should all pat ourselves on the backs for a job well done.....and I think the most important part.....it look's like we are all enjoying ourselves.

That is all that should be gleamed from these numbers, as it in no way really measures anything.
