"GEORGIA CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING" TAPED: SATURDAY MORNING, NOVEMBER 10, 1982 @ 10 AM WTBS -TV STUDIOS ATLANTA, GEORGIA BROADCAST: SATURDAY NIGHT, NOVEMBER 10, 1982 @ 6:05-8:05 ANNOUNCERS: JIM ROSS, RICH LANDRUM, FREDDIE MILLER REFEREE: TOMMY WEATHERS Jim Ross and Rich Landrum welcome the fans to the show. The show is thrown into bedlam right off the bat. Mad Dog Buzz Sawyer has Mr. Wrestling II in tow. II has his mask on but is in street clothes. He is bleeding through the mask. Sawyer has his dog collar and chain in his other hand. He goes over to the ring and throws II into it. II gets in a few shots but Sawyer lays him out. He fastens the collar around the legend’s neck. He uses the chain to tie II to the turnbuckle. He mercilessly beats II until wrestlers come from the back. When Sawyer passes the desk and is accosted by Ross, he growls, barks, and rolls his eyes. Landrum tells Sawyer to get out of here. The show goes to black, as II is helped out. . . COMMERCIALS AND LOCAL PROMOS . . Sweet Brown Sugar is out at the desk when the show returns. He says that Mr. Wrestling II is in a bad way in the back. Sugar talks about how II is a friend and mentor to everybody in the locker room. If you take on him, you take on us. He demands that Sawyer come out and explain this atrocity. Sawyer comes out, still barking but a little more composed. He says the Mad Dog is not a dumb animal. Last week, there were jokes about Buzz Sawyer at this table, coming from the mouth of Wrestling II. Today, he paid for that. Today, blood came from his mouth. Sawyer says he doesn’t mind making Sugar scream, as well. Sugar says for Sawyer to bring a lunch for the final match of this hour. He’ll need it. More wrestlers come out to separate the two. *Masked Superstar defeats Wildman McKigney with a cobra clutch @ 5:48. Superstar talks with Landrum, at ringside. He is much calmer than Sawyer but MS tells Rich not to make the mistake that he is any less upset about things around here. He participated in what experts called the greatest one-on-one series ever, when he beat Wrestling II. He pinned cleanly a legend in Harley race to set up that series. And, Ronnie Garvin got a World Title shot against Wahoo McDaniel this past week? ‘Star says that he doesn’t know if Wahoo, George Scott, or whoever is behind the obvious conspiracy. But, looking intensely at the camera, Superstar says not to trap him in the corner. You won’t like the result. Speaking of Garvin, the hot headed Hands of Stone has his own issues, as well, according to Landrum. Garvin is next. . . COMMERCIALS AND LOCAL PROMOS . . *Ronnie Garvin defeats Joel Deaton with a spinning neckbreaker @ 4:44. Garvin jerks his hand down after Tommy Weathers raises it up. He goes over and picks up Deaton again. He lands another neckbreaker, getting a threat of a reverse decision from Weathers. Garvin storms over to the desk. He, uncharacteristically, snatches the mike out of Ross’s hand. He says that the man you just saw in the ring could come out, oh so easily. He reminds the entire House of Humperdink, but El Gran Apollo in particular, that he can be “the” dirtiest player in the game. He and Ross look at a clip of the AWA Title match in Rome, GA, where Apollo cost Garvin the match. Garvin says he knows some basic English, too. He grunts: “APOLLO DONE!” Ross says “Miller Time” is next. . . COMMERCIALS AND LOCAL PROMOS . . MILLER TIME HOSTED BY: FREDDIE MILLER Miller and Tony Atlas review the incident last week on TV where Tony Atlas was given a Mickey Mouse match by Paul Orndorff. Atlas says he is not a cartoon or a doll. He has taken his sport seriously and has worked hard for everything he has achieved in it. He has lifted the weights and put in the hours in the ring. Tony admits he hasn’t made every decision right in his entire life but his wrestling stuff has been straight up. He says that he hears that Orndorff has a new benefactor. He challenges Orndorff and “Mr. Deep Pockets” to show themselves next week so Atlas can make his case “face to face”. George Scott comes out, as Atlas leaves. He and Miller talk about four other teams in the Thanksgiving Night Tag Team Tournament at The Omni on November 22. Those teams are: Superstar Billy Graham/Nick Busick The Dream Machine/Cowboy Ron Bass Dick Slater/Ronnie Garvin Roddy Piper/El Gran Apollo Scott announces that the AWA World Heavyweight Champion will be on hand to make a title defense. Wahoo McDaniel will face Mr. Wrestling II. Miller says that he knows that II won’t disappoint his fans and he will “Beeee Theeerrre”. Ross says a team who has had concerns on several tag fronts, Steve Regal and Spike Huber, will wrestle next. . . COMMERCIALS AND LOCAL PROMOS . . *Steve Regal/Spike Huber defeat Tony Zane/Jerry Grey in a very hard hitting match. Regal pins Grey after landing a top rope leg drop @ 7:37. Landrum joins the team in the ring. Regal says all he hears is whine, whine, and more whine from the Midnight Express. The wins seem to be balancing things out, now, and Austin and Rose forget how much they cheated. Huber says he and Steve could have cried every time they lost because of shortcuts. They just kept on wrestling and, thanks to Bobo Brazil, the playing field has gotten level. Huber turns to The Andersons and the potshots they took at Regal and Huber last week on Miller Time. Spike says since they threw the insults our way, how about throwing us a National tag title shot. Next week, they will be here to present their case to the Anderson trio in person. Ross says the main event, where Sweet Brown Sugar is ready for revenge, is next. . . COMMERCIALS AND LOCAL PROMOS . . *Mad Dog Buzz Sawyer vs. Sweet Brown Sugar Tommy Weathers takes an “accidental elbow” from Sawyer after the 10-minute mark in this one. Sugar is blasted by the chain that Sawyer picks up from his corner. Sawyer is DQ’ed, when Weathers recovers @ 11:04. (One commercial break) Sawyer is about to wrap the chain around Sugar like he did Wrestling II. Wrestlers fill the ring to keep it from happening. Sawyer leaves the ring area but not before he stops by the desk. The Mad Dog says he will be forever known as “the man who hung old Wrestling II”! END OF FIRST HOUR “GEORGIA CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING” HOUR TWO Superstar Billy Graham joins Landrum and Ross at the desk. The three men review the carnage done to Wrestling II and Sweet Brown Sugar from hour one. Ross says, with the bounty attacks by Giant Baba and The Sheik on Graham being considered, the danger of wrestling in GCW rings has taken a step up. Still sporting a patch over the burn from The Sheik, Graham vows to win that National TV Title from Ron Bass and the HOH. Bass, Kurt Von Hess, and The Dream Machine, along with Sir Oliver Humperdink, confront Graham. Humperdink grabs Hump and is pearl harbored by the three wrestlers. Nick Busick comes out, along with Roberto Soto. The HOH members bail but not before Superstar is hurt pretty bad. George Scott comes back out and says any more attacks today that aren’t about wrestling in the ring will result in immediate suspension without pay. This is wrestling; not gang warfare. Graham wants his three attackers in the ring today. Scott orders Von Hess, Dream, and Bass to face Graham, Soto, and Busick in a six man. Graham wants it to be elimination style. Scott orders that to be so, as well. It will be the feature match today and all other scheduled bouts will be stand-by. Ross tells the fans not to go away. . . COMMERCIALS AND LOCAL PROMOS . . Landrum tells the fans there will be no “Voice” segment on today’s program. *The House of Humperdink (Ron Bass/The Dream Machine/Kurt Von Hess) vs. Superstar Billy Graham/Nick Busick/Roberto Soto Fall One: Graham pins Bass @ 5:47 with a tombstone piledriver. Fall two: Von Hess eliminates Soto with a brain claw @ 9:37 after Soto misses a top rope knee drop. (One commercial break) Fall 3: Dream piledrives Busick on the floor while Graham argues with Humperdink in the ring. Dream rolls back in and Busick is counted out @ 15:04. Graham goes out to the floor and quickly calls for a stretcher. Ross says it is a judgement call but the injury to Busick happened in the course of the match. Graham stays with his protégée and friend ignoring the count of Weathers. The House wins the match @ 15:14. The camera fades to black, as Busick is loaded on the stretcher. He gives a thumb up, as the camera fades to black . . COMMERCIALS AND LOCAL PROMOS . . *El Gran Apollo w/Sir Oliver Humperdink defeats Mike Boyette with a brutal side suplex @ 4:44. Humperdink isn’t welcomed to the desk but he rants anyway. Graham stands tall but his friends went down. Humperdink asks the big man what good he really did. Turning the talk back to Apollo, Humperdink blames the fans for all the heartbreak coming to Ronnie Garvin. If they had not made fun of the language problems of Apollo, Hump would not have gotten involved. Garvin would not have been facing the biggest challenge of his career. Apollo says for his one token word of the week “Monster!” Ross says that the new Georgia heavyweight champion, Dick Slater, is next. . . COMMERCIALS AND LOCAL PROMOS . . *Dick Slater defeats Jody Arnold with a brainbuster @ 5:14. Landrum talks with Slater at ringside. They take a look at a promo that Piper sent to the WTBS studios. Piper is in the locker room. It is dark but you can make out Piper holding what is left of his bagpipes. Roddy says that, once again, Slater has ridiculed his culture and heritage. If he has realized what Piper will do know, he would not have done this. When the show returns to the studio, Slater says he is not hard to find. Piper just needs to bring it. The Midnight Express has some thoughts on the previous comments from Steve Regal and Spike Huber. They are next. . . COMMERCIALS AND LOCAL PROMOS . . *Randy Rose/Norvell Austin defeat Dennis Stamp/The Cheetah Kid when Austin hits a diving head butt on The Kid @ 5:57. Ross meets The MX at ringside. Austin is beside himself. Those two “sweethearts” want to talk about shortcuts. All the stuff they did was never 3-2. Bobo Brazil thinks he is avenging his kid by giving those punks an advantage. He better think again. Rose says his snot-nosed kid couldn’t do it and Bob won’t get the job done either. The solution for all ‘this aggravation” is coming, make no bones about it. When Ross mentions that Regal and Huber will confront The Andersons next week, Rose interrupts and says the MX will “give a listen on that one, too.” Landrum tells the fans not to miss any of it. © GCW @ NWAClassics 1982
