WCCW OCtober Catchup Thread
Nov 14th, 2012, 8:22pm

Here’s what’s been going on since the Labor Day Spectacular.

AMERICAN TITLE: Stan Hansen continues to hold the American Title. The WCCW TV crew was invited to the home of former champ Randy Savage who, in a wild rage, destroyed most of the trophies in his trophy case, saying that they meant NOTHING if he wasn’t American Champion! Hansen held off several strong challenges from Iceman Parsons, Lars Anderson, and had a wild DCOR on TV with David Von Erich. Meanwhile, Savage’s interviews kept getting wilder and crazier as he brawled with Hansen and the Double Cross gang on several occasions.  A No DQ match for the American Title between Hansen and Savage was scheduled for Halloween Star Wars on Halloween Night in Houston.

TEXAS TITTLE: Kerry Von Erich worked his leg back into shape and began his quest to regain the Texas Title from Terry Funk. In a televised tag match that saw Kerry & Kevin wrestle Terry and Dory, Kerry pinned Terry.  After a Texas Death Match for the belt was signed for the Halloween show, Terry tried to attack Kerry with a branding iron during a match between Kerry and Moondog Spot, Kerry fought back, took Funk’s branding iron away and ran terry out of the ring!

TEXAS TAG TITLES: The fabulous Ones continued to defend their tag titles against several tough challenges including Ernie Ladd & Pez Whatley(w/ Lord Alfred Hays), The Moondogs(w/new manager Mr. JR), and the Funk Brothers. Even Kerry and Kevin Von Erich got a televised title shot that ended in a 30 minute draw. After the Moondogs attacked the Fabs during a ringside interview and left them laid out and bloody, a Street Fight was signed between the two teams at the Halloween card.

In other happenings:
Kevin Von Erich’s feud with Scott Casey continued to rage on throughout World Class, they even had a bullrope match on TV that Casey won with help from Dory Funk, Jr. Kevin asked for and got a tag match witrhy he and a partner against Casey and Dory at the Halloween card. Kevin said that his Dad had found the perfect partner for him. When Casey called Fritz out  and demanded to know who Kevin’s partner was, stating that people like Andre, Brody, and Dusty Rhodes were all booked elsewhere that night, Fritz told Casey  “Kevin’s partner will be the next man that punches you in your big mouth!” And then Fritz decked Casey!
Mr. JR came into the area and signed Ox Baker and the Moondogs to his stable.  JR quickly got on the fan’s bad side with his bragging and insults to fan favorites.
During a match between Ox baker and Killer Tim Brooks, Baker tied Brooks in the ropes and hit him with the heart punch. A few weeks later, Brooks gave an incredibly emotional interview about how men had died after taking the heart punch and Killer could have very well died since heart disease runs in his family. Brooks said that his mom had begged him to retire or take several months off, but he wanted REVENGE!  A stretcher match was signed between Brooks and Baker for Halloween.
Pez Whatley left World Class in a huff after losing a televised bout to Iceman Parsons. Ernie Ladd continued to feud with Iceman. Lord Alfred Ahys also began managing  Tatsumi Fujinami.
Bob Sweetan entered the area. Evidently, there is a long running dispute between he and Lars Anderson as the two began feuding immediately. After Sweetan piledrove Lars’ friend Johnny Rich twice after a TV match, Lars demanded a match with Sweetan and they will meet at Halloween.
Scott McGhee set WCCCW on fire with a series of sensational wins. Alfred Hays offered the Scotsman a contract, but McGhee turned him down, leading to a Fujinami-McGhee bout on the Halloween card.
NWA Junior Heavyweight Champ Chavo Guerrero sent in some very arrogant interviews promoting his upcoming title defense against Chris Adams. In one of the promos, Chavo was joined by World Tag Champs Gino Hernandez& Jimmy Garvin, who told him to pick up where they left off in Texas! Chavo showed up at the Sportatorium in a tux and his interference cost Chris Adams a match against Chick Donovan, adding more intrigue to their title match on Halloween night!
A video shown on TV saw NWA World Champ Dusty Rhodes being interviewed. Dustysaid that he had been ordered to defend the World Title on Thanksgiving Night in Reunion Arena and since both Funks had been NWA World Champions, one of them would probably get the match. David Von Erich took exception to that and Duke Keomuka announced David as the top contender in Texas.
Some video vignettes began showing up featuring Sgt. Slaughter and his “Cobra Corps recruit” Don Kernodle. These videos would feature Slaughter putting Kernodle through boot camp type training and talking about how his cobra clutch was unbreakable unlike the Iron Claw.

I hope to have the Halloween night show up tomorrow or Saturday!

I am very impressed with your undercard angles for Brooks, Anderson, and McGhee. Guerrero and Adams would be packing arenas based the way you have chosen to portray Chavo. The promo of the year could very well be Savage destroying the trophy case.

Good catch-up.

Great catch-up and set-up for the Halloween show...Hansen/Savage is a big time feud...I doubt Kerry will be healthy enough for the Texas Death match...Fabs continue to look strong...Fritz fighting with Kevin against Casey & Dory will have the house filled by itself...Good promo from Brooks...Anderson/Sweetan should be a good one...Looking forward to Adams/Chavo...Dusty/DVE is going to be interesting...Slaughter should cause havoc here...Great stuff Grigs!

Great catchup. I really like the Von Erich-Funk feud. Hansen looks unbeatable.  Smiley
