Championship Wrestling from Florida presents: Southern Championship Wrestling Telecast 11/17/82 across the Sunshine State with Gordon Solie, Buddy Colt, and Barbara Cleary *All matches sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance* Interviews and Announcements: - Greg Valentine joins Gordon and tells how he is sick and tired of seeing Butch Reed get opportunity after opportunity to capture the Florida Heavyweight Title. “I was hoping that Eddie Graham would come to his senses this week and give me the match with Kevin Sullivan, Thanksgiving night in Fort Lauderdale, but it is still coming. Meanwhile, I’m just adding to my resume, showing that if Florida wants a real champion, it needs to be a Valentine, not a Reed, not a Sullivan, and not even a Windham holding the belt.” This brings out Jake Roberts who doesn’t appear happy about what he heard. “So you think that you can just come in to my domain and say you are better than anyone? Have you not seen what I did to a member of my Legion when he refused to give me what I wanted? Maybe I need to have the Legion teach you a lesson Valen…” Before the words finish, Greg slaps the taste out of the mouth of Roberts and this gets the Missing Link and Jonathan Boyd to rush the set, only to have the Snake call them off. “This, this is going to settle today Valentine. And I won’t need the Legion to deal with you.” - In a video tape message, World Tag Team Champions Gino Hernandez and Jimmy Garvin tell how they will be back, thanksgiving night in Fort Lauderdale, to deal with Jesse Barr and Mike George. “We are the toasts of every coast, Jimmy and I. From NYC to LA, Tokyo to Toronto, Portland to Pensacola, we are the World Tag Team Champions and you two are simply not in our league.” - Kevin Sullivan tells a very apprehensive Barbara Cleary that with the power of Abuddah Dien in him, he will finish off Butch Reed. “Take a good look into my eyes Butch Reed. Look into my eyes and see that I am not afraid of you. I am not afraid of a steel cage. I am not afraid of spilling blood to remain champion. And yes Butch Reed, blood will spill Thanksgiving Night. Your blood, my blood, it will be on the mat, on the ropes, even on this Florida Heavyweight belt I carry because I will not leave the cage without my gold. Oh no! I gave too much to let you take everything away this time Rhodes… I mean Reed. Not this time!” - “Professor” Bill Ash and the Boss storm the set after their match. “I demand my rematch! Eddie Graham, I want it signed today, before the end of this telecast. I want Brett Sawyer back in the ring for my TV title and I want it Thanksgiving night. I’m not waiting until next Saturday. These fans deserve to see a real champion on TV. Boss, make it happen!” - Eddie Graham, in reviewing with Gordon the Thanksgiving night card in Fort Lauderdale, adds that Brett Sawyer will defend against Bill Ash, but Ash will not get another rematch. He also adds that with what happened in the opening match of the telecast, Boyd and the Missing Link have been escorted from the building before today’s main event. Matches for this telecast: - “Warlord” Jonathan Boyd and his Missing Link are disqualified after mauling youngster Shane Douglas and the Black Scorpion. The Link had pinned Douglas after a brutal power slam, but then Boyd produced his Doomsday Glove and pounded away on both the scorpion and Shane until Mike Graham and Brian Blair rushed the ring. - Mike George with Jesse Barr defeats newcomer Pete Doherty with a big shoulder breaker. - Kevin Sullivan defeats Perro Aguayo in a non-title match with a knee drop to the throat. - In a battle for the Florida Television Title, “Hacksaw” Brett Sawyer defeated “Professor” Bill Ash to become the new champion after Ash missed with an attempt at the Arkansas Whiplash, allowing Sawyer to deliver a big side Russian leg sweep and take the victory and title. - In the main event, Greg “the Hammer” Valentine falls to Jake “the Snake” Roberts via disqualification after the One Man Gang assaults Roberts, throwing aside King Curtis Iaukea in his path of destruction. Valentine seemed like he was just warming up as the match approached 15 minutes in length, but the angry OMG was just too much, even for a former World Champion like Valentine to hold back as the Gang pounded upon Roberts, shoving Valentine away after the bell.
