WCCW Halloween Spectacular

Halloween Spectacular
October 31, 1982
Sam Houston Coliseum
Houston, Texas

1.      Bob Sweetan pinned Lars Anderson at the 11:22 mark, but braced his feet on the turnbuckles for leverage. After the match, Lars protested to the ref, but Sweetan attacked Lars and piledrove him! Johnny Rich ran in to his friend’s aidand had a staredown with “Mr. Piledriver” until Bob left the ring.
2.      Scott McGhee met “The Dragon” Tatsumi Fujinami  (w/ Lord Alfred Hays). This was a great match and outside of some minor interference from Hays was strictly scientific. In the end, McGhee pinned Fujinami with a German suplex at 13:33.
3.      Iceman Parsons squared off with Ernie Ladd(w/Lord Alfred Hays)in a grudge match. Iceman dominated the action, but Ladd won after using a rope that he had hidden in his trunks to choke Parsons out while the ref was distracted by Hays.
4.      Killer Brooks battled Ox Baker(w/Mr. JR) in a stretcher match. Baker went on the offensive early, busting Brooks open. Killer came roaring back and used a foreign object that Mr. JR brought in the ring to batter Baker into unconsciousness! Moondog King came in to interfere on Ox’s behalf and swung his bone at Books’ head!Killer ducked and gave King a vicious atomic drop that sent the big Moondog flying out of the ring!Brooks then piledrove Baker, then rolled him onto a stretcher that several ring attendants carried to the locker room, giving Killer Brooks retribution as well as a big win.
5.      Chavo Guerrero took on Chris Adams in a bout for Chavo’s World Junior Heavyweight belt. This was an incredible back and forth match that saw Adams get several near falls. Admas made a fatal mistake when he attempted to dive from the ring onto Chavo outside the ring. Adams wound up banging his head on the ring barricade and nearly KOing himself! Adams is not the same after that and Chavo pins him after a belly to back suplex and bridge at the 22 minute mark.
6.      Kevin Von Erich teams with his Dad Fritz against Dory Funk, Jr. & Scott Casey. When Stan Hansen accompanies his Double Cross brethren to the ring, Kevin goes to the dressing roonm and returns with David von Erich! This match is an old fashioned brawl. At the 12 minute mark, Dory applies the spinning toehold to Kevin, but Kevin reaches up an puts the iron claw on Dory! Casey runs in, but Fritz cuts him off before he can interfere and applies the claw on Casey! Finally, rferee David manning gets Casey and Fritz out and David brawls with Hansen when he tries to get in. Kevin pins Dory to get the win for the Von Erichs!
7.      The Fabulous Ones defend the Texas tag belts against Moondogs Spot & Rex (w/Mr. JR) in a street fight! After 15 minutes of brutal and bloody brawling, the Fabs hit a double DDT on Spot to win the bout and keep the titles.
8.      Stan Hansen defends the American Title against “Macho Man” Randy Savage. Savage attacks at the bell and soon has Hansen busted open! The match spills out of the ring and they brawl all over the Coliseum. The Funks come to ringside, but Kerry and Kevin Von Erich follow them down and suddenly, we’ve got a six man brawl! Terry grabs a chair, swings at Kerry, but misses and smashes Randy Savage instead! Referee Bronko Lubich finally restores order and gets Savage an Hansen back in the ring and the match back underway! Savage fights valiantly, but he’s still feeling the effects of Funk’s chair shot. At the 19:09 mark,  Hansen nails Savage with the lariat and pins him to retain the title!
9.      Terry Funk defends the Texas Title against former Champ Kery Von Erichin a Texas Death match! Kerry is accompanied by David and Terry by Dory, referee David Manning quickly announces that Dory and David will not be at ringside! Kerry scores some early falls with backslides, sunset flips, and a flying bodypress, but Funk easily beats the ten count each time. Kerry looks unstoppable and Funk starts breaking every rule in the book and going after Kerry’s recently injured leg.  Funk finally applied the spinning toehold. It looked like Kerry would not be abler to escape, but he managed to kick Funk off and send him flying headfirst into the ringpost! Funk came staggering out of the corner, bloody and dazed…..KERRY APPLIES THE IRON CLAW! Kerry put Funk down and pinned him with the claw! After the rest period the ref counted Funk down and Kerry was victorious and the NEW TEXAS CHAMPION!!!!!!

Very good card. Brooks showed Baker you don't mess with the 'Killer'. Good win for Hansen over Savage. Hate to see Funks loosing to Von Erichs.

Great win by Kerry and toss in Kevin and Fritz's win and the Houston crowd would have gone home happy. Great show!

No holiday card in Dallas would be complete without a Von Erich win. I am wondering what Johnny Rich was thinking when he stared down Sweetan. Glad to see my man Ladd with a win. The Fabs continue to win and I am just wondering how long it will be before somebody steps up and has the wrestling skill to beat them. A very emotional win for Brooks and I was right there with him. What will Savage do now?

Great show.

Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience!
