"Portland Wrestling", 11/24/82
Nov 22nd, 2012, 11:41am

“Portland Wrestling”
Sports Arena
Portland, OR
11/24/82

Don Coss and Dutch Savage are in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “Welcome to the ‘House of Action’! We are coming off an exciting ‘Portland Special’ and what a night of action it was. Dusty Rhodes is still the World Champion and the Army still holds all the Northwest Titles, but that might change tonight. We’ll talk about that in a while, but first, we have a man returning to the Northwest, welcome back, Dean Ho.”

Ho joins them in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “Welcome back Dean, it’s great to see you again.”

Ho, “Thank you Don and Dutch, glad to see you again. I’m excited to be here and ready to get going.”

Savage, “Dean, it’s good to see you again. You had great success before and I expect you to do it again.”

Coss, “Let’s see Dean Ho in action.”

Match #1
Dean Ho def. Buck Ramstead, w/abdominal stretch

“Playboy” Buddy Rose and the Army are in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “Mr. Rose, a mixed bag on Tuesday. You and Ed Wiskoski held onto the tag titles, but Rip Oliver did not win the World Title, and he could lose the Northwest Title tonight. And it looks like you are minus one Army member.”

Rose, “That’s right, Heffernan couldn’t get it done, so he’s gone! Ed and I still have these title belts and we’ll keep them. Oliver is going to take care of Snuka tonight and the Army will still rule the Northwest.”

Coss, “Let’s talk about the Northwest Tag Team Titles. You have to face Stasiak and Billy Jack, they are the top contenders.”

Rose, “Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Our lawyers are on this. We have contracts that are signed for matches against top teams, White Cloud and Lightfoot, Della Serra and McGinnis and a lot of others. Stasiak and Billy Jerk have to wait their turn.”

Savage, “Rose, you want me to get mad, you want me to lose my temper, I’m not going to do that. I know your lawyers have found all kinds of loopholes, but they’ll miss one, I promise you that.”

Rose, “Savage, you have been jealous of me for ten years and it’s just sad.”

Coss, “Let’s address a rumor that has been going around. There is talk of a new man joining the Army. So much so that a match has reportedly been signed for next week, your new man vs. Matt Borne.”

Rose, “I’ll announce it now. The Assassin is coming. He will meet Matt Borne and he will beat that little weasel, you can book it.”

Coss, “We’ll see what happens. Let’s see the ‘Playboy’ in action.”

Match #2
“Playboy” Buddy Rose def. Terry Adonis, w/Billy Robinson backbreaker

Stan Stasiak and Billy Jack are in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “With me are two men who are chomping at the bit to get the Northwest Tag Titles, but it doesn’t look like Rose and Wiskoski want to give you a shot.”

BJ, “Cowards! That’s what they are! Stan and I have beaten everyone else, and they still won’t give us a shot!”

Stasiak, “Billy’s right. They are cowards. I know that the Commission will work on it, we may have to wait, but we’ll get our chance.”

Savage, “I know a lot of fans don’t understand it, but the Commission has some power granting title shots, but there has to be an open contract. Rose and his lawyers have tied up all of them, but I know they’ll find a loophole. Stasiak and Billy will get a title shot.”

Match #3
Stan Stasiak and Billy Jack def. Pat McGinnis and Caveman Broda, Billy Jack w/Full Nelson vs. Broda

Jimmy Snuka is in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “With us is Jimmy ‘Superfly’ Snuka. Jimmy you meet Rip Oliver in a few minutes, this is the chance of a lifetime.”

Sunka, “Bruddah, I came here to win a title and I’m going to do it. Oliver and Rose get by with cheating, but it’s not going to be enough! I’m taking that title, Oliver, it’s over for you!”

Coss, “Later tonight, Snuka vs. Oliver, it’s going to be fantastic.”

Match #4
Doug Somers def. The Masked Gladiator, w/Neckbreaker

Coss, “The Main Event is next.”

Main Event, Two out of Three Falls
Northwest Championship
Rip Oliver (Champion) w/”Playboy” Buddy Rose vs. Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka

First Fall-
Snuka takes the fight to Oliver. Rip is in early trouble. He takes to the floor to confer with Rose, but Snuka follows him. He slams their heads together and tosses Oliver back into the ring. Sunka whips Oliver into the ropes and slaps on the Sleeper. The Champion gets to the ropes and the hold is broken. Oliver mounts a comeback, but it’s not enough. Snuka slaps on the Fijian Full Nelson! Oliver submits!
Winner-Jimmy Snuka

Matt Borne is in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “Wow! Snuka wins the first fall, and with the ‘Fijian Full Nelson’! We haven’t seen that for a long time. Now on to Matt Borne, Matt, you meet the Assassin, Buddy Rose’s new man, next week. What do you know about him?”

Borne, “I’ve heard of him, they say he’s good. If Rose brings him in, he’s going to be tough.”

Coss, “That’s right. If he works for Rose, he’s tough and he breaks all the rules.”

Borne, “I’m ready. Steve and I came close to winning the tag titles, but I’m not giving up. We all know what Rose is like and I want to shut him up and I’ll start with the Assassin.”

Coss, “Next week’s main event is the Assassin vs. Matt Borne, don’t miss it.”

Second Fall-Oliver jumps Snuka before the bell. He works over Jimmy, but makes the mistake of slamming Jimmy’s head into the turnbuckle. That doesn’t faze the ‘Superfly’. He goes to work on the Champion and it looks like we will have a new Champion. Sunka rolls up Oliver, but Rip rolls through and grabs the trunks. Referee Sandy Barr counts the fall. It’s one all.
Winner-Rip Oliver

Coss and Savage are in the Crow’s Nest.

Coss, “Dutch, I thought Jimmy had it, but he still has a fall to go. He’s so close.”

Savage, “I still have faith in him, but Oliver has Rose at ringside and that’s always a problem.”

Coss, “The crowd is on the edge of their seats, this third fall will be fantastic. Now let’s talk about the coming weeks in the Northwest. This man will be making a tour of the area.”

We see a picture of Harley Race.

Coss, “Former World Champion, Harley Race, will be here for several weeks. Dutch, that’s a big deal.”

Savage, “Harley Race is one of the toughest men in the game. He’s a World Champion, and many think he will win it again. The fans are in for a treat when Race shows up.”

Coss, “We will have more on Race next week. Now let’s see the third fall.”

Third Fall-There is very little time left in the program. This is a brawl. Both men slug it out, and Rose tries several times to get involved. Neither man is able to take a fall and the time limit runs out.
Result-Time Limit Draw

Coss, “What a match, these two must meet in a rematch. Remember next week, the Assassin vs. Matt Borne, don’t miss it.”

Such a great episode of tv.

The Assassin is an upgrade of Hefferman, so the army just got stronger, and that main event for next week looks to be a doozy.

Snuka came close, and I too hope to see a rematch.

The chase of the tag titles just keeps heating up as Rose is trying everything to keep from facing Stasiak and Haynes.  The heat for that match is going to be off the charts when it finally happens.

I really liked the Snuka Oliver match. Your writing style made that great with the Borne storyline thrown in there. That's good writing.

Billy Jack is as raw as hamburger, but the fans were all over him. You are bringing him along just as he should be.

I am still hoping you will trade for Lord Alfred Hayes at some point! Smiley

Great work as always Tom and a whole lotta fun to read! Smiley

I am just wondering how Savage will continue to fit into all of this. Good return for Dean Ho. Snuka vs. Oliver has to be booked again.

Great show.

His Lordship says that he is weary of "that commoner Grigs" and would welcome a change of scene, especailly one that doesn't involve a population wearing cowbot hats and oversized belt buckles.
