The Omni Atlanta, Georgia November 22, 1982 6 PM Referee: Nick Patrick, Tommy Weathers, Scrappy McGowan George Scott, Chairman of Georgia Championship Wrestling, enters the ring. He tells the fans that, due to circumstances that will be explained on this week's TV, the match-ups in the tag tourney will be different than advertised. Scott promises the best of AWA action, no matter what. Georgia Bracket Play-in Match Superstar Billy Graham/Nick Busick defeat Ray Candy/Cowboy Ron Bass w/Sir Oliver Humperdink after Bass hits his head on a ringpost when rushing toward Graham on the floor. Superstar rolls Bass in and pins the TV champ after a shoulder breaker @ 8:02. Tony Atlas/Sweet Brown Sugar defeat The Midnight Express after Sugar makes a blind tag to Atlas. Randy Rose is bragging to the crowd and doesn't realize Atlas is behind him. Tony clamps on a full nelson. Sugar blocks off Norvell Austin for the submission win @ 7:56. Before the match, Austin announces that Rip Rogers had travel problems. Masked Superstar/Paul Orndorff defeat Superstar Billy Graham/Nick Busick when Sir Oliver Humperdink comes out and hits Nick Busick from behind. Graham goes after the rotund one. His partner falls victim to a roll up from Orndorff, trunks included, @ 8:11. AWA Bracket Play-in Match Ted/Jerry Oates defeat Karl Von Shotz/Kurt Von Hess w/Sir Oliver Humperdink after both Von Hess and Jerry double clothesline each other over the top rope. Von Hess hurts his arm on the fall. The Brothers double team him with Ted doing the honors with a butterfly suplex @ 8:36. Steve Olsonowski/Dick Slater defeat Roddy Piper/Ernie Ladd by CO when Ladd misses a clothesline on the floor. Ladd hits the ringpost with his massive arm instead of Slater. Mr Unpredictable beats the count in @ 7:49. After the match, Ladd runs Olsonoski into the post in a fit of anger. Ole/Arn Anderson defeat Ted/Jerry Oates when Gene slugs Ted with his black glove late. The National Tag Champs go to work wearing down Oates. Arn gets the pin with a face first suplex @ 9:38. . . INTERMISSION . . AWA Bracket Final Ole/Arn Anderson w/Gene Anderson defeat Dick Slater/Steve Olsonoski when the injury Olsonoski suffered at the hands of Ernie Ladd becomes too much to handle. Ole and Arn isolate Olsonoski in their corner and rip away at the shoulder. Eventually, Olsonoski makes the tag to Slater and, then, falls through the ropes. Slater makes a valiant effort to fight off The Minnesota Wrecking Crew by himself but he can't. He submits to Ole's step over arm bar @ 16:00. Georgia Bracket Final Tony Atlas/Sweet Brown Sugar defeat Masked Superstar/Paul Orndorff after Masked Superstar gets caught up in the Atlas/Orndorff feud. Tony Atlas is in the cobra clutch and almost out. Orndorff begs for a chance to put out Mr. USA once and for all. Orndorff tries for a Lariat, while MS holds the target. Atlas breaks free and the wicked clothesline takes out the masked man. Atlas tags in Sugar, who dropkicks Orndorff over the top rope. Superstar is caught by a missile dropkick and is pinned @ 15:00. After the match, Masked Superstar and Orndorff shove each other when Orndorff blames 'Star for the loss. The National champ takes the high road and leaves. AWA World Heavyweight Title Wahoo McDaniel defeats Mr. Wrestling II when II shows some leftover effects from the beating given him recently by Mad Dog Buzz Sawyer. Wrestling II is just a tad slow in throwing the millon dollar knee lift. Waho is able to see it coming and roll with it. He pulls down the top rope and both men tumble to The Omni floor. McDaniel goes to the ringside table and gets the AWA belt. He clobbers II with it, getting the DQ from Scrappy McGowan @ 24:03. . . INTERMISSION . . Thanksgiving Night Tag Team Tournament Final-$20,000 to the winning team Ole/Arn Anderson w/Gene Anderson defeat Tony Atlas/Sweet Brown Sugar. Both teams are in the ring fighting tooth and nail when Nick Patrick makes a fateful decision. He choses to back Tony Atlas back to the corner. Gene Anderson slides into the ring and throws Sweet Brown Sugar into the head of Arn Anderson. Sugar is out and Ole makes the cover @ 22:44. Arn is hardly able to stand and has to be helped up by Gene. He and Ole accept the winners check from George Scott. The fans go home, knowing they have seen another Thanksgiving classic.
