Southwest Championship Wrestling Broadcast Saturday November 24, 1982 The show opened with joined in progress highlights of Tiger Conway Jr. connecting with a cross body block on Killer Karl Krupp for a pinfall from this past Thursday night in San Antonio. The video then faded out to..... Steve Stack was in front of the SCW backdrop, and he welcomed everyone to today's program. He said that the action on Thanksgiving night at the HemisFair Arena in San Antonio was all that it was expected to be, as you can see from that clip. He said that here on today's program, we'll be seeing highlights from that big show, and hearing some comments from the participants. First up, here's action from the "King of Wrestling" match between Carl Fergie and Jerry Lawler: It took a lot for Fergie to get the upper hand, but when he did, he went to work with every dirty tactic known in wrestling. Toward the end, he and Lawler were both going back and forth with Lawler trying to get Fergie in position for a piledriver, and Fergie just trying to fight for his life. Lawler got the upper hand, and planted Fergie square on his head with the piledriver for the winning pinfall at 15:28. Winner and King of Wrestling: Jerry Lawler Lawler celebrated around ringside while wearing his crown. A well dressed man came from the locker room area with a document in his hand and went and spoke with the referee. The referee looked over the document and then called the ring announcer back in. He conversed with the announcer for a minute and then the following announcement was made: "The contract for this match states that it was to be contested under Queen of Canterbury rules (Canterbury being where Fergie claims his ancestors are from), and under those rules, the Piledriver is an illegal move. Therefore, Jerry Lawler is disqualified, and Carl Fergie is the winner!" This announcement did not sit well with neither Lawler nor the fans. Lawler grabbed the document and then threatened to punch out he referee. Fergie was regaining his feet and raised his arm in victory. Lawler kicked him in the gut and got him in position for another piledriver. He held him there for a bit as the crowd roared it's approval. Lawler then dropped him on his head again before leaving with his arms raised high. Winner and King of Wrestling: Jerry Lawler Carl Fergie The clips ended and were replaced by a taped interview with Jerry Lawler after the match in the dressing room where Lawler said that Fergie may have taken advantage of some fine print in a contract, but he's the one who was left looking up at the lights courtesy of the REAL King of Wrestler, Jerry Lawler. He says that if he has anything to say about it, this is far from over! Commercials Steve Stack once again in front of the backdrop, and he was joined by Johnny Mantell. Mantell said that he feels like nobody here takes him seriously. He said that he never gets contracts to wrestle on tv, or in the arenas in the big money matches. So going forward, he's changing his attitude, and from now on he's going to play by a different set of rules. Next week, he has a tag team partner coming here named The Hangman, and together, they are going to dish out some punishment, old west style! Stack then talked about the violent and brutal I Quit cage match between Tully Blanchard and Eddie Mansfield, and introduced clips of it: At the 20:00 mark, both men seemed to be on their last legs due to all the blood lost and damage they had done to each other. Eddie then pulled out what appeared to be some sort of spike from his boot. He caught Tully in the arm with it, and Tully went down. Eddie pounced on Tully and used the spike on his arm, which opened a big gash on it and more blood started to flow from Tully. Mansfield paraded around the ring as Tully struggled to get back to his feet. Eddie gave a motion running his thumb across his neck to signal the end was near for Tully. He came at Tully with the spike, but Tully kicked out and kicked the hand of Eddie and Eddie ended up driving the spike into his own forehead! The spike went flying and Eddie rolled around the mat in pain. He rolled over under the bottom rope against the cage to try and protect himself from Tully. Tully came over and stomped Eddie in the back of the head driving his face into the cage. He did it again and again. Tully then put his foot on the back of Eddie's head, pushing his face harder into the cage. He pulled back on the top rope for more leverage and it looked almost as if Eddie's fac was going to go right through the cage as he screamed in pain. Finally, it was too much for Mansfield, and he started screaming I QUIT at the top of his lungs! Tully gave him a final stomp in the head before staggering back as the referee raised his hand and Tully collapsed to the mat. A taped interview with a bloody Tully was then shown where Tully said that he has finally finished his business with Eddie Mansfield.....but he has one more task to complete. The Fabulous Blondes, friends of Eddie and two men who encouraged what Eddie done to Joe Blanchard still have to pay their dues too. So next week on Southwest Championship Wrestling, he challenges them to put their belts on the line against him and a partner! He said for their disrespect, he'll take their belts! Commercials Stack talked about the possibility of seeing Tully and a partner challenge The Fabulous Blondes next week. He then introduced a taped interview with Blackjack Mulligan: Mulligan said he told the Spoiler he would whip his butt, and that is exactly what he did! He said he never was afraid of Spoiler's claw, and showed him tonight who the toughest son of a gun really was! Highlights from their match was then shown: Spoiler to his credit though, is tough to beat. He gave BJM a questionable blow around the mid-section area, and then quickly slapped on his brain claw! Mulligan faded to the point he was down on the mat, but used both of his hands to pull the claw off his head. The fans rallied behind BJM as he fought his way back up, and then he applied his own claw to Spoiler! Spoiler fought it, and managed to get himself to the ropes to break the hold. When he did, he gave Mulligan a kick to the gut. Spoiler then bounded to the other side of the ring, but when he came back off, Mulligan lunged at him and connected with his patented Lariat clothesline! He dove on top of Spoiler for the 1...2...3. After the clips, a tape interview with The Spoiler where he said that Mulligan got lucky, but next time will be a different story. He said that he knows his brain claw can put Mulligan out, and he'll prove it. Commercials Steve Stack said that next week on Southwest Championship Wrestling, Tito Santana returns to Southwest! He'll be in action next week, but for now, Stack played a short highlight reel of Tito's recent time away from Southwest. Stack then introduced highlights of the Fabulous Blondes vs. The Guerreros: It was looking bleak for Mando, but the Blondes had a miscommunication and rammed into each other. This gave Mando the break he needed to tag in Hector. Hector came in on fire and controlled both Blondes for a bit, and almost scored a pin on Embry, but Timbs broke it up. This allowed the Blondes to then go to work on Hector. They gave him the same long agonizing treatment that they gave Mando earlier. Mando finally got in to break up the beating, and it was a pier sixer with all four men going at it. Embry and Mando went out to ringside and continued to fight away, as Hector and Timbs squared off in the ring. On the floor out of the referee's vision, Embry got a folding chair and attemted to hit Mando with it. Mando blocked the shot and took the chair away from Embry. Embry bolted, and ran around the ring while Mando gave chase with the chair. Embry hopped in the ring to continue running, and Mando followed. Mando finally caught Embry as he was attempting to dive out of the ring again, and hit him across the back with the chair in a shot that was so hard it would leave a bruise on Embry's future kids. Unfortunately, he did this in sight of the referee. It was unfortunate timing too, as Hector had Timbs down and out after a dropkick from the top rope and was already at a two count when the ref stopped and called for the bell. The Guerreros thought they had won on Hector's pin, but the referee informed him of his official DQ decision. They were not happy, and chased the Blondes away from ringside, and posed with the belts before leaving in disgust themselves. The Fabulous Blondes did an interview in the locker room after the match where they said they proved once again that they are the very best tag team in all of professional wrestling. The Guerreros, The Fantastics, The Invaders.....it don't matter. Nobody can take these belts. From off camera, someone told them of Tully Blanchard's challenge to which the Blondes had the following to say. They said that Tully is a snot nosed punk promoters son, and thinks he can call the shots around here. But the fact is, the champs don't wrestle anybody they don't want to. So the answer is NO. Out of that video, Steve Stack said that against the wishes of the champions, matchmaker Joe Blanchard has signed a match for Tully and a partner of his choosing to face the Blondes next week here on tv. But it will be a non-title match, with the condition that if Tully and his partner win, they will get a title match as a result. Steve Stack started to wrap it up for today, but had some news to share with the fans. Next week, Southwest Championship Wrestling will start airing on USA Network in homes with cable television. Due to that fact, Southwest Championship Wrestling will now be a 2-hour show going forward. Stack thanked all the fans for tuning in each week and DEMANDING a longer tv show. He said he'll be back right here next week to call all the action. On tap for next week: Tito Santana returns to the Southwest and will face El Halcon in a match "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff will see action Johnny Mantell & The Hangman in tag team action Manager Barry Orton Sr. will have comments on the status of Eddie Mansfield "Killer" Tim Brooks makes his debut The Fabulous Blondes vs. Tully Blanchard and a partner of his choosing in a non-title matchup The Spoiler, "King" Carl Fergie, Tiger Conway Jr., plus more will be on hand. So long everybody!
