BILL MERCER: Welcome to World Class Championship Wrestling. Thanksgiving Star Wars is history. It will go down as one of the greatest nights in the history of World Class Championship Wrestling. And today will certainly be one of our greatest television programs ever. You will see the tag team of Sgt. Slaughter and his Cobra Corps recruit, Don Kernodle . They might be a top challenge for Kerry and Kevin Von Erich, the new Texas Tag Team Champions! Killer Tim Brooks is here. He certainly had a tough time with the other Killer, Killer Khan on Thanksgiving night, but he’s right here to face Butcher Vachon. Killer Khan will also be here today and I’m sure that Mr. JR will be by his side. And what a main event we have. David Von Erich and the man he wants to meet for a rematch for the NWA World Championship, “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes will face what remains of the Double Cross Gang, Stan Hansen and Terry Funk. We’ll also get an explanation from Cowboy Scott Casey about his recent actions. Right now, here are pre-recorded comments from the participants in our main event!

VTR:
Terry Funk and Stan Hansen are standing in the ring in an empty Sportatorium.

FUNK: Well, everybody thinks the Double Cross Gang is on it’s last legs. Kerry and Kevin pulled every rulebreaking trick in the book to get Junior out of Texas and steal our tag team titles. And Scott Casey is acting like a fool. It’s down to me and Stan the Man here. Honestly, who else do we need? Today, we’re gonna take an egg sucking plumber’s son dog of a paper champion and a tall drink of water drugstore cowboy and give them a wrestling lesson like the Sportatorium has never seen!

HANSEN: People, I’m still the American Champion! If David Von erich didn’t have old man Fritz’s name on his birth certificate, I would be getting the matches for Dusty’s title! Rhodes, Von Erich, one of you boys is gonna feel the lariat today! I might break a neck or I might break a back, but I’ll tell you one thing! The Double Cross Gang is still ruling Texas and there ain’t nothing anybody is gonna do about that!

VTR:
[i]Dusty Rhodes and David Von Erich are in a locker room.

RHODES: The other night, two Texans gave World Class a rasslin’ match that rocked the world, baby. I felt the power of the Iron Claw, Terry Funk and Stan Hansen and it wasn’t somethin’ I look forward to feelin’ again! Today, this son of a plumber who has risen to the most coveted title in all of sports will team with the greatest and toughest challenger I have ever faced.  Terry Funk, you and Stan Hansen talk about how you rule Texas, baby, well, the American Dream rules the world and it looks to me like this man right here and his family rule this state with an iron claw!

DAVID: Hansen and Funk, you can Ask this man if I don’t deserve a World Title match!

DUSTY: I got a scar on my head to prove it, brother!

DAVID: People are tired of your garbage! It even looks like Scott Casey is tired of it! Well, Kerry and Kev already sent Dory Funk packing! Today, the champ and I might send you two out of town along with him! Dusty, when this is all over, I want a rematch!

DUSTY: David Von Erich, brother, I have rassled ‘em all, from Tulsa to Tokyo to Madison Square Garden. From Harley Race to Ricky Flair to Antonio Inoki to Verne Gagne. And Thanksgiving night was the only night that I ever left the ring not feeling like I had kicked booty all night long! I will give you a rematch, baby, but this time, I’ll know how tough you truly are and I’ll be prepared for all out war!

DAVID:  Don’t worry, I’ll be ready, too, champ!

LOWRANCE: Here with Sgt. Slaughter and Don Kernodle. Sergeant, you had all you could handle with Fritz Von Erich and his iron claw on Thanksgiving night!

SLAUGHTER: YOU SKINNY MAGGOT! That old man was no match for the most devastating hold in wrestling today! When I had him in the cobra clutch, he was begging to be let go! Fortunately, Private Kernodle here pulled me off before I crippled him!

LOWRANCE: It looked to me like he was about to become $5,000.00 richer before Private Kernodle hit him with your riding crop….

SLAUGHTER: NO! It was just as I said! Then, his barefoot, goldbrick sissy son ran in and tried to attack me! Now that Kevin and Kerry Von Erich hold the Texas Tag team titles, Private Kernodle and myself might just have to take those belts away from them! Right now, we’re going to  give a display and demonstration of real tag team wrestling! And you’re DISMISSED!

Sgt. Slaughter & Don Kernodle wrestle Terry Gibbs & Akio Sato. Sato & Gibbs have their moments, but the Cobra Corps is too much and Sarge puts Sato away with the Cobra Clutc. After the bout, Kernodle sets up a chair in the middle of the ring.

SLAUGHTER: Before I dismiss you maggots and Kernodle and I go for some R and R, I’m challenging any wrestler  and I do mean ANYBODY to come and try to escape the hold that had the legendary Fritz Von Erich begging for mercy the other night! Any of you pukes back there feeling lucky? Five grand if you can break the cobra clutch! Show them the cash, private!

Kernodle waves a fistful of cash in the air.

SLAUGHTER: Look what the dog drug in!

Kevin Von Erich comes to the ring!

SLAUGHTER: I notice you have started wrestling barefoot. It makes you look like one of them hippie draft dodgers, they never wore shoes either!

Kevin sits in the chair. Slaughter applies the clutch, lifting Kevin out of the chair in the process. Like his father did the other night, Kevin reaches back and applies the claw! Kevin backs up and drives Slaughter into the turnbuckles……THE COBRA CLUTCH IS BROKEN! Kevin still has the claw on Slaughter! Kernodle folds up the chair….he’s going to smash Kevin from behind! No, Kerry hits the ring and is firing away with punches on Kernodle! Slaughter rakes Kevin’s face and leaves Kernodle alone with Kerry and Kevin! Kerry and Kevin double dropkick Slaughter’s prize recruit out of the ring where he lands at Sarge’s feet!

Butcher Vachon takes on Killer Brooks. As could be expected, this is a rugged match with a lot of rulebreaking. Brooks get the win after dropping a big elbow on Vachon. Mr. JR comes to ringside and grabs a mic afterwards.[b]

JR: Mark Lowrance, You introduce him as plain Tim Brooks from now on! Killer Khan showed everybody who the real Killer was the other night.

BROOKS: I’m man enough to admit when I took a tail kicking and I took one the other night! But I’ll fight Killer Khan again any time any place! Mr. JR, I already beat your Moondogs one at a time and ran Ox Baker out of Texas! That only leaves Khan and you! I challenge Killer Khan to match where the loser leaves Texas! This is my home and I don’t plan on leaving!

[b]Killer Khan (w/ Mr. JR) wrestles Jerry Brant and pins him after a knee drop off the top rope.

MERCER: Earlier today, our camera crew caught up with Cowboy Scott Casey to get his comments on recent events.

VTR:
Scott Casey is sitting on the ring apron of the ring in an empty Sportatorium.

CASEY: Hey, Scott Casey here. I guess a lot of people are confused about how I’ve been acting lately. Let me try to explain. Last time I left Dallas, Kevin Von Erich had turned into a really bad person and you people hated him, rightfully so. I came back and he was back to being the fair haired boy and it made me mad. Terry Funk sold me a bill of goods and came up with the whole Black Scorpion thing as a master plan to put it to Kevin and his family. Now, Kevin did wrong when he turned on me and even his own brother, but I’d forgotten something my daddy taught me when I was little boy: two wrongs don’t make a right! The Double Cross Gang don’t just want to win titles and be the best, they want to put men out of wrestling! That’s just not what Scott Casey is all about. I’m not going to hit men with branding irons or chairs. To be honest, I feel like I’m not myself anymore. I like signing autographs and shaking hands with fans and kissing the girls. I miss the Sportatorium and all of the other arenas chanting “Go, Scott, go”. That’s what the real Scott Casey is about. There is a little girl named Courtney and she used to stand outside the Sportatorium after the show with her Mom to tell me that she had cheered for me during the match. Some times, she’d bring me a flower. The first night that I ever came to the Sportatorium as a member of the Double Cross Gang, little Courtney was standing out there with her Mom and holding her flower and I walked right past her. I heard her say “I guess Scott don’t love me no more.” Some nights lately, I can’t sleep. All I see is that little face and hear her saying “I guess Scott don’t love me no more” As much as I like winning wrestling matches, I like being able to sleep at night  and looking at myself in a mirror even more. Funk, Hansen, no hard feelings, boys, but the old Scott Casey is back and he can’t be a part of what you do.

MERCER: Here with Terry Funk and  Stan Hanse who are standing by for our main event….

HANSEN: (wringing water out of a towel) Scott Casey, look at all of these tears we’ve cried over you, boy!

MERCER: Please, Stan…

FUNK: You want to kiss and hug these people? You want little girls to love you? They’ll love you so much that they will bring you candy when the Double Cross Gang put you in the hospital, boy! You always were the weak link! Dory tried to tell me you weren’t good enough. I should have listened to my brother!

MERCER: Next week on World Class Championship Wrestling, the debut of Dr., David Shults against Johnny Rich, Scott Casey will be on the card, and what a MAIN EVENT: Stan Hansen defends the American Title against David Von Erich! Plus, the Midnight Express make their debut and they will be under the management of this man, Jim Cornette!

CORNETTE: That’s right, World Class will be privileged to see the greatest tag team of all time, twin sons of different mothers, Loverboy Dennis Condrey and Beautiful Bobby Eaton, The Midnight Express! More Fabulous than the Fabulous Ones, more exciting than the Von Erichs, meaner than the Moondogs, and more devious than the Double Cross Gang! We will dominate tag team wrestling as nobody else as ever done, Bill Mercer! And the pleasure will be all yours to call the action!

MAIN EVENT: Stan Hansen & Terry Funk battle NWA World Champion Dusty Rhodes & David Von Erich. This is a wild bout that sees Bronko Lubich DQ both teams for excessIVE brawling. In the end, Rhodes & Von Erich clean house and are left stnding tall in the ring to the cheers of the fans. Rhodes takes exception when Bronko mistakenly hands the NWA belt to David and the two men nearly come to blows!

Great promo from Rhodes and David. Well, so much for the Cobra Clutch Challenge! Killer Brooks leaving Texas? For sure, not! Superb promo from Casey, especially the part about the little girl. Even better response from Hansen. The belt is handed to Von Erich? Priceless!

Great stuff.

I've been doing this for over 12 years now. Everytime that I write a show after spending holidays with nieces or nephews, I wind up with a face turn revolving around a little kid.

Great work as always Griggs.  Anything that has Stan and Terry teaming up and tearing up gets my vote.

Dave and Big Dust could be having a lot of problems.

Texas is rocking in your hands and I can't wait till valentines day to see you and Mickey go at it.
