GCW TV: 11/24/92 NEW FACES, HOLY MOLEY PLACES
Nov 25th, 2012, 7:17pm

"GEORGIA CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING"
TAPED: SATURDAY MORNING, NOVEMBER 24, 1982 @ 10 AM
WTBS -TV STUDIOS ATLANTA, GEORGIA
BROADCAST: SATURDAY NIGHT, NOVEMBER 24, 1982 @ 6:05-8:05

ANNOUNCERS: JIM ROSS, RICH LANDRUM, FREDDIE MILLER
REFEREE: NICK PATRICK

Ross and Landrum welcome the fans to the show.

Highlights of the Thanksgiving Night Tag Team Tourney at The Omni are show. Jim
Ross tells the audiences that the results will be talked about more as the show
goes on. GCW Chairman George Scott comes out.

Scott says that, in being the chairman of any wrestling promotion, there are
situations that have to be dealt with that aren't pleasant. Because of the
injuries suffered at the hands of The House of Humperdink last week right here,
Ronnie Garvin will not be competing in Georgia Championship Wrestling for some
time. The crowd moans. Their response perks up, when Scott announces that the
two men who were directly responsible for the injury, The Dream Machine and El
Gran Apollo, have been fired from the promotion.

Sir Oliver Humperdink comes out, looking very concerned. He admits that he heard
about this earlier in the week and his lawyers tried to stop it. But, his
faction, the best in the world, will survive. Scott says he isn't finished.
Humperdink looks perplexed.

Scott explains that, since Cowboy Ron Bass, took the National Television Title
to the back and didn't participate directly in the post-match attack on Garvin,
he will not be suspended. However, to hurt Humperdink, who Scott says he knows
orchestrated the plan, in the pocketbook.......

THE NATIONAL TELEVISION TITLE HAS BEEN STRIPPED FROM RON BASS.

Scott says Hump can thank his lawyers for one thing, though. They were able to
get a first round bye for Ron Bass in any tourney that might be held. The rotund
one is livid. He says this isn't over and the HOH won't go away. They will only
get better, starting today. Scott says the title situation and how it will be
answered will be addressed next week, since the promoters couldn't get together,
this week, because of the Thanksgiving holidays.

Scott and Humperdink leave. Ross encourages the fans not to go away.

*Rip Rogers/Norvell Austin/Randy Rose defeat Don Serrano/El Rayo/RT Tyler when
Rip Rogers takes out El Rayo with a brainbuster @ 7:02.

Rick Landrum meets the winning trio at ringside. Austin quickly tells Landrum to
refer to all three of them as The Midnight Express from now on. He vows they
will be the most powerful three man force in wrestling. Rogers says he would
like to sabotage the rental car company that messed up his ride, causing him to
miss the Omni tournament. But, he is just so happy to be a member of The
Express, that he will let it go. Rose says any belts are fair game for them,
including the TV belt.

Ross says that Sir Oliver Humperdink has already signed a big man to replace
wrestlers lost to the House of Humperdink. Ray Candy is next.

*Ray Candy w/Sir Oliver Humperdink defeats The Cheetah Kid with a corner
avalanche splash @ 6:02.

Ross makes a big mistake when he talks to Humperdink and Candy at the desk.
Humperdink's charge takes offense to the name "Ray Candy". He wants to be
referred to as Kareem Mohammad. Ross quickly agrees to do so. Humperdink says he
is going to be out here for the next match "to sign a crown jewel for The
House." They aren't knocked out, by any stretch.

Ross says that Miller Time is next.

MILLER TIME
HOSTED BY: FREDDIE MILLER
Miller is seated in an interview room at the WTBS studios. He understands that
the director has been given a VTR to play. The clip looks to be a National
Geographic spin of Scottish culture. When it is over, Miller is joined by a
jovial Roddy Piper, carrying a golf club.

Miller asks Piper why he seems so happy with Dick Slater still holding the
Georgia belt. Piper says that there are many facets to the Hot Rod that only his
closest friends know of. He is a student of history. Golf originated in his
beloved Scotland. It is as much a part of his heritage, as the bagpipes.
Speaking of bagpipes, Miller asks if Piper has replaced the pipes destroyed by
Slater.

That is a mistake by the veteran broadcaster. Piper destoys the set with the
club. He yells Slater, as he clubs everything. Miller bails. Piper closes the
segment himself, blowing on the club and putting it in a holster. ala Chi Chi.
He says that the red that will come from this club will makes him lots of green.
Piper vows to hit that long drive and get "his" Georgia belt back.

Ross says that the two-sport star Ernie Ladd is up next.

.

COMMERCIALS AND LOCAL PROMOS
.
.

*Ernie Ladd defeats Gary Young with a thumb to the throat followed by a
guillotine leg drop @ 6:35.

Ladd storms to the desk. The first thing he does is shake the hand of
Humperdink. He always appreciates the kind comments of a learned man.

A clip is shown of Ladd running Steve Olsonoski into the ring post after his and
Roddy Piper's first round loss in the Thanksgiving Night tourney. Ladd is angry,
when the show comes back to the studio. He says that "77" has never gone out in
the first round of anything. Humperdink says "The Big Cat" doesn't have to worry
about that again, if he joins The House. Ladd thinks about it for a moment and
says it will be his pleasure. Humperdink jumps up and down with joy. He says he
has one more offer to extend and leaves.

Ross says that the National Heavyweight Title holder, Masked Superstar is next.
.
.
COMMERCIALS AND LOCAL PROMOS

Non-title match
*Masked Superstar defeats Mike Doggendorf in a match where the former University
of Kentucky football star looks very good. He misses a corner splash, though,
and the champ locks on a cobra clutch @ 7:23
.

The 'Star goes to the desk and gives props to Doggendorff. He tells Ross that,
if the rookie stays with this sport, he could be very good. Ross mentions
several contenders for the National belt, when Humperdink comes back out. Ross
says he can't believe this but hands the mike to Sir Oliver. Superstar crosses
his arms and waits.

Humperdink says that, being the National champ and the best wrestler in the
"biz", every wrestler is going to take facing the Superstar as "their bowl
game". Humperdink says, even as good as the champ is, that the Masked Superstar
could benefit from being the "cornerstone of The House". MS tells Ross that he
heared Ernie Ladd refer to Humperdink as "a learned man" earlier. He proposes
some analysis that he should be able to understand.

Why does any wrestler need a manager? He's green as grass? He holds up the
National belt. Not necessary to go any farther on that point. Kareem Mohammad
and Ernie Ladd come out, then. Superstar says another reason a manager is needed
is to be "the voice of the wrestler". He says, in a non-bragging way, that his
voice and interview style is the best in the sport. Maybe a manager is need
because of a limited move set. 'Star glances at Mohammad. Maybe a wrestler is
"on his last legs" and "wants one last push". The masked man stares at Ladd.

Ladd says he has a place in mind where he would like to put "one of his last
legs". Superstar says to go for it. Preliminary wrestlers come out and seperate
everybody before anything comes of the arguement. Superstar says, after weighing
the pros and cons, he says "Absolutely Not"! Humperdink says he will regret
saying that.

Ross says for the fans not to miss the second hour.

END OF FIRST HOUR

"Georgia Championship Wrestling"
Second Hour

Ole and Arn Anderson, with the ever-present Gene, join Landrum and Ross at the
desk.

They watch the winning pin in the Thanksgiving Night Tag Team Tournament. When
the show returns to the studio, Arn asks was there really have any doubt as to
who would win. Ole throws out a challenge to the AWA World Tag Champion Brisco
brothers. Ole and Arn are willing to give the champs the $20,000 won in the
tourney. All they have to do is beat them on the next date they will be at WTBS,
which is December 8. Ross asks what The Andersons will get if they win. Ole says
they will only get the satisfaction of beating the World Champs in front of
millions of viewers. That's enough.

Ross says he will call his fellow Oklahomans personally with that sweet deal.
Stay tuned for more action.

*Steve Olsonoski/Sweet Brown Sugar defeat Tony Zane/Jerry Grey when Sugar hits a
top rope dropkick @ 7:28.

Olsonoski and Sugar talk to Landrum at ringside. Olsonoski says that he and
Sugar were on teams that were the surprises of the tourney. Unfortunatly, their
partners are involved in other rivalries. He and Sugar have decided to team on a
regular basis. Sugar says he is sad that Ronnie Garvin is gone but he is excited
about the National Television Title being up for grabs. He and Olsonoski both
throw their hats into the ring for a tourney, if one comes about.

Ross talks about another team that made an appearance at The Omni was The Oates
Brothers, Ted and Jerry. They compete next.

*Ted/Jerry Oates defeat Moondog Morretti/Butch Beckler with a superkick from
Jerry to Morretti @ 6:59.

Ted makes a direct challenge to the German team of Kurt Von Hess and Karl Von
Shotz while talking to Ross at the desk. He says a lot of teams that have faced
those "goosesteppers" have gone on or went home. Jerry says he and Ted are two
"good old Georgia boys" who aren't going anywhere. Their home is here. Ted says
to try them on for size.

Landrum says "The Voice of Georgia" is next.

THE VOICE
HOSTED BY: RICH LANDRUM
Landrum is at the interview podium. He is joined by a very dapper dressed Paul
Orndorff. Orndorff spends a few minutes telling how Rock Riddle has helped him
with some financial investments. He has always been "The Total Package" in the
ring but, now, he's a big winner in the market, as well.

Paul and Rich look at a clip from last week, where Tony Atlas stripped Riddle
down to his undershorts on TV. Orndorff is livid when referring to the incident.
He says that Riddle is back in Texas getting ready for a very special challenge.
Orndorff dares Atlas to meet him and Riddle in a handicap match next week. To
make it extra hard to resist, Orndorff says that Riddle wants to start the
match. In closing, he wonders if Atlas has the brains to understand what is
being proposed or the guts to accept it.

Landrum says that a new foreign power invades GCW next.

*Yuri Gordienko defeats The Black Marvel with a sleeper @ 6:37.

During the match, Ross and Landrum are joined by newcomer Wendell Cooley. Ross
mentions that Cooley has been on the cusp of greatness in some other
territories. Cooley says he has "come to the best to be the best". Landrum
mentions that, when Cooley debuted in GCW in Columbus, the female voices were
well heard.

After the match, Gordienko refuses to wake The Black Marvel up. Cooley yells
from the desk for the big Russian to do so. Yuri returns the verbal assault but
leaves before doing his duty. Cooley rushes from his seat and slaps Marvel in
the back. Ross says Gordienko may have made a foe today in this All-American
kid.

Mr. Wrestling II, according to Ross, has some words for Wahoo McDaniel after
Thanksgiving night. He is out next.
.
.
COMMERCIALS AND LOCAL PROMOS

.

*Mr. Wrestling II defeats Magic Dragon with the million dollar knee lift @ 8:55.

During he match, Humperdink comes out one more time. He says that Mad Dog Sawyer
isn't here anymore and the reason why is because Wrestling II jumped him in a
parking lot. Landrum says that is an unsubstantiated rumor. Humperdink
disagrees. He says his guys getting fired and Wrestling II getting cheered for
the same thing shows how "baby kissers around here get a break".

Wrestling II comes down to the set and tells Humperdink to get his "ample
backside" out of here. Kareem Mohammad sneaks up and grabs Wrestling II from
behind. Huperdink starts to unhook the laces to II's mask. The masked man slams
an elbow to the head of Mohammad and grabs Humperdink. It is everything Mohammad
can do to get Humperdink out of there.

Wrestling II is visibly upset. The icon says nobody messes with his mask. He says
if Superstar Billy Graham needs any help against these goons, he's got it.
Landrum asks II if he saw the altercation earlier involving Ladd and Superstar.
Wrestling II leaves without a response.

Ross says things are always changing here in Georgia Championship Wrestling.
Don't miss any TV or arena action.

Johnny, IMHO, this is your best show since taking over GCW...The pacing is right and the talent fits GA well...Looking forward to the TV tournament...Rogers makes the MX any more dangerous...Humpy has added some good talent, but Superstar showed why he doesn't need a manager...20K for a title shot is a high price, but the Andersons can pull it off...Looking for big things from SBS & Steve O...The Oates Bros. could challenge Ole & Arn...Mr. II & SBG would be a tough team to beat...Great stuff!

Masterful! It doesnt get better than this. I can only echo what Hillbilly said, the Superstar segment with HOH was brilliant! I like what you are doing with Cooley and the Oates. Piper is a real cut up in your hands. Great work there.

Johnny, as stated above, this could be the best Georgia Television I have ever seen, Masterful.

It seems to me that it takes a couple of months to get one's feet wet, get the wrestlers where they want them or get the wrestlers they need to run an angle.  That being said Georgia is hitting on every cylander.  Awesome show by the Dean.
