Referees: Paul Morton and Jerry Calhoun

**Sprach Zarathrustra plays the Pankrationist Statue rotates 360 degrees while Championship Wrestling is shown over it. The scene fades to Lance Russell & Dave Brown behind the announce desk. **

Russell:  Yeeeeeellllllloooooo again and we welcome you to another exciting edition of Championship Wrestling.  Heeeeeeyyyy what a busy week we have had and what a great show we have lined up for ya.  And here’s our old friend Davey to tell us all about it.

Brown:  We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!  I know Lance and I have put on a few extra pounds. (Lance nods in approval and both laugh).  Congratulations are in order.  The King is once again the International Champion as he defeated Manny Fernandez for the Title Monday Night.  We’ll hear from Jerry later in the show.  Speaking of Jerry’s, Jerry Jarrett has some big announcements for us today.  Also, we have a special treat, as AWA World Champion, Chief Wahoo McDaniel, will be live in our studio.  We will hear from Jimmy Hart and his First Family.  Southern Champion, Austin Idol, and Mid-America Champion, Tommy Rich, will join us.  Fans, we have some returning favorites and many new faces debuting today.  In other words, we have a full show for you!  And speaking of returning favorites, here comes one now….HANDSOME JIMMY VALIANT!

Valiant:  (Singing) “Well, I just touched down in Mempho…TWA…Tell all the pretty ladies Handsome Jimmy’s on his way!  I’m a rocker and a roller…A little funky too…I was raised by a gypsy…You know Handsome Jimmy’s cool!”  Woah, have mercy Davey Brown!  You know Handsome feelin mighty good today Davey!  Been a long time since Handsome been in Mempho.  Davey, I been in the Carolinas and Virginia and I heard that two sorry dogs tried to take wrestling away from the beautiful people of Mempho.  I wish I coulda been here sooner, but Kingfish and his boys took care of it.  I promise ya, those kinds of things ain’t happenin again.  Not with me here to help out!  Woah Davey it feels so good to be back home!  I can’t wait to get into action!  (Valiant plants a big kiss on Dave’s lips as Brown makes a stink face.  Valiant dances into the crowd and shakes hands).

Russell:  Weeeeeellllllll, it’s good to have Handsome back!  I’m glad you got kissed Dave and not me I’ll tell ya!  Heeeeeyyyy, I want to give a big Howdy to those watching us in the Toledo, Ohio area!  They have been hungry for wrestling and Jerry Jarrett has worked things out so that they can get our TV.  Nooooowwww, let’s go to the ri…..(At this point a man in a tuxedo and a cane walks out and seats himself down between Lance and Dave)  Can I help you?  This is LIVE TV ya know?

Mystery Man:  Introductions are in order.  I know who you two are, but let me introduce myself.  I am Tux Newman, manager extraordinaire, maker of Champions, golden toned announcer.  In short, I am pretty much Mr. Everything and I am here in search of my next conquest.  Russell?  I thought they gave away butter and cheese on Tuesdays.  Why are all of these Welfare recipients here today?

Russell:  Noooooowwwwww, hold on there Newman, don’t come out here and start putting down our fans fer Pete’s sake!

Newman:  Fans?  It looks like overflow from a Greyhound bus station.  I would never associate with such unruly creatures.

Russell: Ok, ok.  Tell us why you are out here and get out of here will ya?

Newman:  Russell, don’t get short with me.  I am here to scout recruits for a stable to dominate the CWA.  I met a nice young man earlier named Jimmy Hart who…

Russell:  (Rolling his eyes) Nice young man?  Boooooooyyyyy does he have you fooled.

Newman:  Russell, stop interrupting!  Mr. Hart informed me that he is putting his First family back together and we have agreed to not bid against each other for talent.  My stable will be an assortment of wrestlers who will lead me to the top.  All the way to the AWA World Title.  That is my goal and I will accomplish it!  Now, if you don’t mind, I believe I will sit right out here with you two morons and scout for talent.

Russell:  Weeeeeellllll, if you stay out here, do it quietly, we have a TV show to do.  Heeeeeeyyyyy speaking of which, let’s go to our first match.

Match 1
The Mad Russian debuts and def. Bill Howard with a top rope knee drop

Russell:  Joining me is CWA’s representative for the AWA, Jerry Jarrett.  Jerry, I hear you have some big news for us.

Jarrett:  Yes, Lance, I do.  First, I hope everyone had a terrific Thanksgiving.  Unfortunately, I have some bad news to start off with.  The Rock-n-Roll Express, Rick Morton & Robert Gibson, were attacked in a parking lot earlier this week and will not be wrestling in the CWA in the near future.  The police report says that two huge goons dragged them out of their car and beat them severely.  We have no idea who those men were, but if we find out that it was anyone associated with the CWA, they will be fired on the spot.  Many people considered the Express the top contenders for the Southern title tournament coming up soon.  After hearing of the attack, I put the word out to every wrestling territory that we are looking for new teams to come in to compete in the tournament.  I made a personal call to one team and they have agreed to come back to the CWA.  Before I announce that team and bring them out here, I have one more announcement.  Since this is the Holiday season, look for special cards on Christmas and New Year’s Eve.  We’ll have more on those next week.  Now, let me bring out a team you are all familiar with.  (Billy Squier’s “Everybody wants you” plays).  Steve Keirn & Stan Lane….THE FABULOUS ONES!

Keirn:  Lance, Jerry, it’s great to be back in the CWA!  We have missed all of our fans here and it’s good to be home.  Stan and I have heard all about the things that have been going on here and we feel like now is the time to come home and help defend the CWA for all of these great fans.  We know Jerry Lawler, Austin Idol, Dutch Mantell, Tommy Rich, and Bill Dundee have been doing a great job in fighting off the enemies of the CWA, but a little help never hurts.  Plus, we want those Southern Tag Team Titles and eventually the AWA World Tag Team Titles.  Isn’t that right Stan?

Lane:  Steve you are 100% right.  Memphis is like home to us and we have been away for far too long.  We wrestled in Texas and the fans there treated us real nice, but there are no fans like the fans of the CWA!  We have big goals and it all starts with the Southern Tag Team Titles.  We plan on winning that tournament and then, the sky is the limit!  And Lance it’s even good to see that banana nose of yours!  (Lance, Steve, Stan, & Jarrett all laugh at that one).

Russell:  Theeeeeeeerrrrreeeee the go, Steve & Stan, The Fabulous Ones!  It’s great to have them back!  Let’s go to ring for our next match.

Match 2
Kendo Nagasaki debuts and def. Marvin Turner with a savate kick

Russell:  It is my honor to bring out the AWA World Heavyweight Champion, Chief Wahoo McDaniel.  Chief it’s always a pleasure to have the World Champion here with us.

Wahoo:  Thank you Lance, it’s my pleasure to be here.  Before we begin, I’d like to ask Jerry lawler to join us.

Russell:  Weeeeeeellllll, I know the King is here.  Let’s see if we can get a hold of him. (Talking to a camera crew member) Pete?  Is Jerry anywhere in the back?  (Pete goes to check).  Heeeeeeere he comes, The King!

Lawler:  Lance, Chief.  You wanted to talk to me?

Wahoo:  Yes, I did.  I hear that you have been shooting off your mouth saying that if you don’t win this Title, MY Title, by the end of the year that you are going to retire.  Is that right?

Lawler:  Yep, that’s right.

Wahoo:  Well, Mr. Lawler, check the calendar.  The year is almost over and you haven’t done it yet.  And when we meet Monday Night at the Mid-South Coliseum, you won’t get the job done then either.  Every time I’ve wrestled you, you have come up short.  And Monday Night will be no different.  I find it offensive for you to come out here and say that you are going to take my Title.  You act like it’s going to be so easy to do.  Well Lawler, all I have to say to you is I hope you enjoy your retirement, because you will never take the World Title from me.

Lawler:  Don’t get your feathers all ruffled Chief.  No disrespect to you, but now is my time.  It doesn’t matter who the World Champion is, I would still make the challenge to myself to win the Title this year or retire.  I have been doing this for twelve years and if I’m not ready to win the World Title now, I never will be.  I have to prove this to myself and when Monday rolls around, you need to be at your best or you will be the former AWA World Champion.

Wahoo:  Don’t you worry Lawler, I will be ready!  And just like every time before, you will fall short of your goal.  And just to remind you of how good I am, I have a match scheduled today against…well, I can’t think of his name, but it really doesn’t matter who I wrestle, because I will show you how a World Champion wrestles.

Idol:  Excuse me Chief, Kingfish.  Did you just say that it doesn’t matter who you wrestle?

Wahoo:  Well, ummmmm…yeah…that’s what I said.

Idol:  Well Dahlin, I volunteer.  I am the Southern Champion and I am free to wrestle today so let’s make it happen.  I deserve a chance just as much as anyone.

Wahoo:  Well, ummmmm….someone else is scheduled to….errrrr….ummmmmm….wrestle me.

Idol:  Let’s stop all the ga ga Chief.  Are those chicken feathers on your head?  Because you sure seem to be chickening out.

Wahoo:  Idol!  Nobody calls me a chicken.  You want a match?  You got it!  (Lawler & Idol celebrate with the fans as Wahoo walks to the back)

Russell:  Boooooooyyyyyy howdy!  We have us a main event now!  I can’t wait to see the Universal Hearthrob and the Chief go at it!  Let’s go to our next match.

Match 3
Black Bart debuts and def. Gene Ligon with a Texas trash compactor leg drop

Russell:  Heeeeeyyyy here’s the Mid-America Champion, Tommy Rich!  Tommy what did you think of the last segment we had?

Rich:  Mr. Russell, we gonna have a great match raht here on TV.  Austin is a good friend o’mine and Chief Wahoo helped bring me into this sport along with Jerry, Jackie, Rasslin 1 & 2.  Ah would hate to try to pick a winner in that one.  (From out of nowhere, a stout balding man with a dog chain attached to his neck charges out and begins pummeling Rich.  Punches, kicks, and chain shots leave Tommy a bleeding, huddled mess on the floor).

Sawyer:  HEHEHEHEHE…TOMMY RICH…..I FINALLY GOT YOU…..HEHEHEHE….YOU WOULDN’T COME TO GEORGIA, SO I CAME TO YOU….HEHEHEHE….MAD DOG LIKES BLOOD…HEHEHE…TOMMY RICH CHEW TOY….OOOOOWWWWWWWW…BUZZ SAWYER GETS WHAT HE WANTS…HEHEHEHE (Sawyer wipes Rich’s blood all over his own face and marches off after a few kicks.  Newman stands up and excuses himself as he needs to go talk to “someone”)

Russell:  (As jobbers help Rich to the back)  For Heaven’s sake.  What kind of animal was that?  Attacking an unsuspecting man like that.  I’ll tell ya, if it were up to me, he would never be allowed back out here.  Look at this floor.  Blood is everywhere.  Yeah guys, help Tommy.  He needs to get that bleeding stopped.  Let’s go to the ring.

Match 4
El Gran Apollo debuts and def. Charlie Fulton with a flying cross body block.  The ladies take special interest in Apollo’s muscular physique and his handsome features.

Russell:  Ohhhhhhhh grrrrreat!  Things have gone from bad to worse.  Here comes Jimmy Hart and the First Family.

Hart:  Lance Russell, This is the greatest day in my life baby!  Look at my First Family!  The greatest rassler in the world, The Macho Man Randy Savage.  The toughest rassler in the world, The Memphis Spoiler.  And the newest members of the First Family, The Assassins!  And seein Rich bleed like a stuck pig only makes today better!  Banana nose, is there a better group anywhere? Hahahahahaha!  Tell em Macho!

Savage:  OHHHHHH YAY-AH! THE BLOOD IS FLOWING AND THE FAMILY IS GROWING!  UH HUH THE FAMILY IS GROWING, YEAH!  Lance Russell, The Macho Man is headed straight to the top.  I saw the World Champ here today and he’s on the Macho Man’s radar.  Just like Lawler, Rich, Idol, Mantell, Dundee, and the rest of em.  The Macho Man wants em all!  JIMMY HART HAS PROMISED ME THE WORLD TITLE AND I WILL WIN IT, UH HUH WIN IT, YEAH.  AND THEN, I WILL BE THE NEW KING OF MEMPHIS, NO THE KING OF THE WORLD!  OHHHHHHHH YAY-AH, DIG IT!  Ain’t that right big man?

Assassin #1:  Lance Russell, in case you didn’t know, my partner and I are known as the Assassins.  We are known throughout the world and have won Titles everywhere we have wrestled.  Mr. Hart has paid us a lot of money to come here and win the tournament for the Southern Tag Team Titles.  We plan to do just that.  We saw the Fabulous Ones out here earlier and they are a good team, but we are just a little better.  We have never won the World Tag Team Titles, but that is our ultimate goal.  We will be the kingpins of the AWA and Mr. Hart will make it happen.

Hart:  (Hugging the Family)  See baby, the First Family is going straight to the top.  Hahahahaha.  I love it! (Hart leads the First Family off and the crowd stirs as a familiar masked man walks in through the other door).

Russell:  Weeeeeeellllll, look what the cat dragged in.  The Dream Machine.  What are you doing here?

Dream:  Hallelujah, HALLELUJAH!  The Dream Machine is back Baybay!  Now Lance, I know the last time I was here, I wasn’t exactly Mr. Popular, but since I’ve been gone, I’ve learned something.  Ya see, I went down yonder to Alabama and Georgia.  Ya know ya have to go South for that Southern lovin.  Down in Georgia, I hooked up with a fat, squat little red-headed troll who shamed me Lance Russell.  He shamed me.  He stole my money and stole my pride.  Well, I had time to think and I said to myself, Dream it’s time to go home.  So, I got on that big white bird and I flew straight home to Memphis.  And Lance, I’m here to make amends for my past sins here.  I want the love of the people.  I’m ready to start duckin and divin, shuckin and jivin!  I seen that weasel Jimmy Hart out here just now and that weird guy Tennessee Tuxedo earlier.  Those are the kinda men I can’t stand.  Lance I have walked 32,000 miles of barbed wire fence barefoot.  I’m panther quick and leather tough, love to fight and can’t get enough.  And with all these wonderful fans behind me, Hart and Tennessee Tuxedo don’t stand a chance.  Just give the old Dream Machine a shot people.  I won’t let you down.

Russell:  Weeeeeeeellll Dream, you’re gonna have to prove yourself to win these fans over.  Heeeeeyyyyy. The main event is in the ring.

Match 5
Non-Title
AWA World Champion, Wahoo McDaniel, def. Southern Champion, Austin Idol after hitting him with a chain and pinning him with his feet on the ropes.  Idol dominated the match until Wahoo stooped to using the chain.  Lawler came in and stared down McDaniel before helping Idol to the back.

Rich:  (Bloodied and bandaged) LANCE RUSSELL, AH WANT THAT DIRTY DOG SAWYER MONDAY NIGHT!  EDDIE MARLIN JUST SIGNED IT AND SAWYER, WHAT I DO TO YOU WILL MAKE THIS LOOK LIKE A PAPER CUT!

Russell:  Woooooaaaaahhhh, I can’t wait to see that one!  Fans, before we go, let me just run down the card for the Mid-South Coliseum.  There are nine big matches, including an AWA World Title match and there is no increase in ticket price.  That’s right, tickets are still $4, $5, & $6.  In the opening match, El Gran Apollo will meet Bill Howard.  In the second bout, The Mad Russian takes on Gary Royal.  The third match sees the Dream Machine vs Charlie Fulton.  The Fourth Match has Bill Dundee & Dutch Mantell meeting Kendo Nagasaki & The Great Yatsu.  The Gilberts will try to tackle the Assassins in the fifth match.  A special eight man tag team match will feature The Fabulous Ones, Jimmy Valiant, & Phil Hickerson against Randy Savage, Nick Bockwinkel, The Memphis Spoiler, & Swede Hanson in the sixth match.  This just signed, for the Mid-America Title, Tommy Rich defends against Mad Dog Buzz Sawyer in match number seven!  The Southern Title is on the line in the eighth match as Austin Idol takes on The Nature Boy, Ric Flair!  And in the main event, for the AWA World Title, the Champion, Chief Wahoo McDaniel, will take on International Champion, Jerry The King Lawler!  Remember fans, nine big matches with no increase in ticket prices.  Tickets are $4, $5, & $6!  Don’t miss this one!  For Dave Brown, this is Lance Russell saying we’ll see ya at the Coliseum Monday Night!

Valiant in Mempho just makes sense. Tux Newman is going to fit in just fine. Sawyer is a good first member of his stable. I am hoping to see The Fabs and The Assassins in the finals for those Southern Tag titles. Great promo from the Dream Machine. Wahoo and that chain? Seems he knows his time as AWA champ may be numbered.

Great show.

Whoa Daddy Mercy!!!! or something like that. Valiant is back in Memphis and Buzz Sawyer is going after Tommy Rich. I love what you are doing with the Wahoo - Lawler thing. Good work building this into the AWA Feud of the Year.

Great work on The Dream Machine. I liked his interview.

The Fabs and Macho Man in Memphis means trouble.

Great, some good Dream Machine dialoge a week after I drop him in 1992-land, I think I got the gist of him...

Chock full of well-fitted new faces.  The one that captures my imagination is Newman (know very little, want to know more).  He could be a great project here.  Getting some elbow room to operate in the same town as Hart is a story in itself!

Great post, had a bang-on feel.

Newman is the evil manager persona of Jeff Walton.  Walton went from being a fan to doing PR, announcing, and some promoting for the LaBells in Los Angeles.  After the LA territory closed down, he went to Memphis as Tux Newman.  His work was pretty good and there is a bit of it on Youtube.  His most high profile client there was Randy Savage.  He grew tired of bad payoffs and long trips and time away from his family and moved back to CA.  He even did some work for Vince Jr. on the magazine that would become WWF Magazine.  Walton has written a book entitled Richmond 9-5171:  A Wrestling Story with his son.
