Airs12/1/82 MERCER: Welcome to World Class Championship Wrestling. It’s good that you’ve joined us this week. Our Main Event will see Stan Hansen defend his American Title against David Von Erich. After his heartfelt confession last week, it will be interesting to see the Cowboy man, Scott Casey in action. The Midnight Express will make their debut this week as will a friend of Freebird Terry Gordy who says that he is here for revenge on the Von Erichs and all of World Class, Dr. D, David Shults. It will be a great program for you fans this week and the NWA World Champion, Dusty Rhodes is here, too. Right now, here is our first bout.
Scott Casey tangles with Butcher Paul Vachon in the opener. Caasy stops to kiss a young girl in a cowgirl outfit….that must be his young friend Courtney! Courtney gives Scott a flower and he’s obviously very emotional. Vachon mocks Casey, acting like he’s crying. Vachon winds up regretting his mockery as Casey dominates the match and finishes the Butcher with a bulldog! COMMERCIAL
VTR:
A Russian flag is in the background as two large men step into the frame. They fold their arms across their chests and one of them addresses the camera.
KOLOFF: I am Ivan Koloff, the Russian Bear. This is my comrade, Nikolai Volkoff. We are from the Soviet Union and we are coming to this World Class to claim it for Russia. All of you Americans in Texas will fall under the dominace of our Russian superiority. We will take all of your titles back to Russia. We hear about men like the Von Erichs, they are like boys compared to us.
VOLKOFF: I have been in World Class before, but then I was facing your corrupt American ways alone. This time, I bring my comrade, the great Russian Bear. We will show you all how the might of the Soviet Union will crush you under our boot heels. Comrade Kruschev was correct…WE WILL BURY YOU! MERCER: I’m here with the man who broke the Cobra Clutch last week, Kevin Von Erich!
KEVIN: Yeah and I still haven’t got my 5 grand, Slaughter. Next week, Kerry and I have signed an open contract for a televised Texas Tag Team Title match. We’ll put those belts up against my five thousand dollars, Slaughter and Kernodle! If you guys have the guts to face us man to man, we’ll be right here!
MERCER: We’ll try to get an answer on today’s program, Kevin. Up next another team, you might have to concern yourself with, the Midnight Express!

CORNETTE: Ladies and gentlemen, Kerry and Kevin Von Erich’s worst nightmare, the next Texas and the next World tag Team Champions……Loverboy Dennis and Beautiful Bobby….THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS!
The Midnight Express take on Jerry Bryant & Terry Gibbs. The Express put on a great show as Eaton pins Bryant after a rocket launcher. COMMERCIAL
”DR.D” David Shults wrestles Johnny Rich. Rich gives Shults a competitive match, but eventually falls prey to s piledriver and Shults gets the duke. MERCER: I’m here with the NWA Heavyweight Champion of the World, the American Dream, Dusty Rhodes! Champ, last week, you and David Von Erich formed an outstanding team, but there appeared to be a conflict….
DUSTY: Last week, David Von Erich, they handed you my belt! My World’s Heavyweight title that I fought so long and hard for, baby! I work my booty of for it and they just hand it to you! I guess that’s the story of your life, kid! Your daddy is a big star and you get stuff handed to you. Well, the American Dream is the son of a plumber and I had to fight and scratch for everything I have ever had. I rose from nothing to the greatest box office attraction in the World today! Not Muhammad Ali, not the Dallas Cowboys, not the Rolling Stones, but the Dream, daddy! And I got it honest, jack! Now, the referee apologized, he said “It was just a mistake, Dream, no offense”. Well, they are so used to handing you everything that they have gote used to it, David! Well, son, when I put the ten pounds of gold up against you next time, you’re gonna have to fight and bleed and struggle, baby! All I gonna hand you is the beating like old man Fritz never gave you!
MERCER: Well, we are all certainly looking forward to the ramtch whenever and wherever it may be!

MERCER: Next week, we’ll have another great program for you! The World Champion Dusty Rhodes will compete. Iceman Parsons will be here. Chavo Guerrero, the World Junior Heavyweight Champion will be here and the top contender for his belt, Chris Adams will take on Killer Khan! And in our Main Event, those superheroes from Denton County, Kerry & Kevin Von Erich will put up the Texas Tag Titles against the $5,000 Cobra Clutch Challenge prize prize of Sgt. Slaughter and Don Kernodle! Right now, I hear the beautiful voice of Tanya Tucker singing “Texas When I Die” and that can only mean the entrance of David Von Erich!
MAIN EVENT:
Stan Hansen defends the American Title against David Von Erich. This is nothing but a fight from the opening bell! Terry Funk is at ringside and when the action spills out of the ring, he gets involved, giving Hansen the advantage. Back in the ring, Hansen begins working on David’s back, obviously setting up for the Brazos Valley Backbreaker. Scott Casey comes to ringside and begins to slap the mat, appearing to yell encouragement to David. Stan goes for the finish with a lariat, but David ducks under and applies the iron claw! Funk tries to enter the ring, but Casey cuts him off! In desperation flails away and nails Bronko Lubich with a right hand! Bronko calls for the bell! Stan Hnasen will hold onto the belt by resorting to a cheap DQ! The Sportatorium fans are getting ugly this week! Casey enters the ring and David offers his hand….Casey and David shake hands and the fans roar their approval! What a great scene this week on WCCW!
