ICW Recap
Dec 9th, 2012, 2:36am

ICW United States Champion: Ron Garvin

The Sheik managed to hold on to his United States championship for most of November, until he ran right in to the “One Man Gang” Ronnie Garvin. Garvin used his hands of stone to knock out The Sheik and take the title on November 17th. The Sheik has tried to get his title back, but now that Garvin has it, he is not letting go. Manager Ron Wright has entered the territory and has quickly gathered two massive men to manage, those being “Nature Boy” Roger Kirby, & “The California Surfer” Steve Strong. Both those men have been sent after Garvin and the US title but so far they have been unsuccessful with Garvin outsmarting them. Garvin however, has now laid the challenge out to Ron Wright, that on Christmas Day in Somerset, Kentucky, Garvin will defend the US title against either Kirby or Strong BUT if Garvin wins, then he gets 5 minutes with Ron Wright. So far Wright has not agreed, much to the disappointment of his men.

ICW United States Tag Team Champions: Ken Lucas & Ricky Gibson

Ken Lucas and his partner Ricky Gibson made an immediate splash coming in to ICW by winning the United States tag team belts from Tojo Yamamoto & Gypsy Joe and have not looked back since. They are on a roll defending them against such teams as Tommy Lane & Mike Davis, The Boogie Woogie Men, and the former champions, Yamamoto & Gypsy Joe.  There has been a rematch signed between the wild men Joe & Yamamoto and the current champions for December 25th in a Kentucky Death Match.

ICW Television Champion: Dale Mann

Mann has managed to keep the belt despite being brought right to the limit on numerous occasions by Lou Thesz’s protégé, Mark Fleming. Fleming has not given up on his hunt, challenging Mann to a final match on Christmas Day. If Mann wins, then Fleming will not challenge Mann again for the title. If Fleming wins, then Mann will not ask for a rematch. Both men have agreed. The AWA representative, Lou Thesz has stated that neither man will lay hands on the other before the Christmas Match or whoever does will be disqualified from the match.

Other things Happening in ICW

The Boogie Woogie Men have attacked Lanny Poffo & George Weingroff repeatedly. Poffo & Weingroff are still looking for revenge from when the Boogie Woogie Men heinously attacked Poffo’s dad Angelo. These two teams will be facing off on Christmas Day but ANGELO POFFO IS THE SPECIAL REFEREE!!!!

Bob Roop has started to team up with fellow Olympian Brad Rheinghans, calling themselves “The All Americans”. These relatively new team have done well, but ran in to a bit of trouble against the mysterious team of The Devil’s Duo, made up of Jeff Sword & Doug Vines, managed by the ever present Izzy Slapowitz. The Devil’s Duo have made it clear that no team will roll them over and the United States tag team belts are in their future. BUT The All Americans have created the stand still with neither team getting past the other so far.

Dale Veasey, a newcomer to ICW has started a friendly rival with Berry Orton. These two wrestlers have had some very good matches with neither man gaining a stranglehold over the other and based on mutual respect. The fans have taken to these two and enjoy their matches when they get together in the ring.

Saul Weingroff has brought in Ox Baker to take the television title back to the Weingroff family. Still denying his son George, Saul has vowed to take Baker to the top of the wrestling world, even promising tag team gold, should a suitable partner be found.

As Mike has said, we have had some hard times family wise the last month, but here is my recap. I will be back to regular time frame as of next week.

Great recap Cory. Happy that Ken and Ricky have the tag straps. Roop and Rheimghans are going to be a team to be reckoned with.  Wink

Good recap - kind of thought-provoking.

I've never had to try a recap or catch-up.  It might be a great exercise to try.  There is quite a variety of ways to block out, format & synchronize our output.  IIRC, I recently read a Florida post that ran down 4 or 5 house shows in a week, another variation I am interested in.  More than one way to skin a cat and come up with an appealing result.

Garvin going against Strong or Kirby was the kind of outside thinking that ICW had to have in real life. Love the team of Lucas and Gibson on top here. Love the playing on the real life relationship between Thesz and Flemming. Roop and Rheingans teaming together and going against The Devil's Duo fits. Love the roster here.
