Championship Wrestling from Florida presents: Southern Championship Wrestling Telecast 12/8/82 across the Sunshine State with Gordon Solie, Buddy Colt, and Barbara Cleary *All matches sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance* Interviews and Announcements: - “The Canadian Bruiser” Bob Sweetan tells Gordon that after what he saw from the Florida Heavyweight Champion last week, he knows what he’ll have to do. “Gordon, Butch Reed may be the Florida Heavyweight Champion today, but if he ever has the guts to step into the ring with me when there isn’t a TV show ending, we’ll see if he’ll still be the champ. - Buddy Colt speaks with Jake Roberts and the Legion of Doom, noting that the Missing Link didn’t defeat the One Man Gang last Tuesday in Tampa. “You show me a man that would truly stand in the path of either the Missing Link or that tub of lard, the One Man Gang? But I will keep throwing the Missing Link and the Warlord at that blubber ball until he’s been crushed like the watermelon he looks like. And the One Man Gang will fall, even if I have to do it myself.” - Former World Champion Greg Valentine tells Barbara that the buzz all around this territory is about him. “The fans in Orlando, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, all over this state have seen what a real wrestler like Greg Valentine is made of. Last Monday, they saw me take that punk kid Barry Windham to his limit, 45 minutes. Well Barbara, it takes me 45 minutes to just warm up. A real man like me can go 60 minutes in a match, any night of the week. Barry Windham, if you’ve got the guts and Eddie Graham will let you off your leash, we can settle this like real men, 60 minute time limit, 2 out of 3 falls for your belt. But not Tuesday night. Not the following Tuesday. Christmas Night, in the Tampa Armory, you get to prove if you’re ready to step into the big leagues, if Eddie Graham will let you out to play that is…” - Spike Huber and Steve Regal tell Buddy that they want real competition. “Spike and I have proven to the fans in Florida, beyond a shadow of a doubt that we are as capable as any team you have in the ring. We’ve beaten Mexican, Cowboys, English lords, and masked men, who ever the promoters throw at us. The Malenko Brothers think that we are over looking them, wanting to jump in line. Well Boris, tell your boys that if they have the skill to take on the Young Lions, we’ll face them any place in Florida. And after we beat your boys, you can take your place in line, behind us.” - “Professor” Bill Ash tells Gordon what he thinks of the letter writing campaign being run by the fans against him. “In each and every town and city that we wrestle in, the fans are encouraged to write in and ask for a match they want to see. Well I’m sick and tired of having Brett Sawyer or Omar Atlas waiting in the ring for me, week in and week out. The Boss has told Eddie Graham that I’m not taking any more matches against Sawyer or Atlas. They haven’t beaten me and they won’t. Get me a new opponent because next week, if it’s Atlas or Sawyer, I’ll just retire this TV belt. Face it Gordon, I’m the best wrestler on TV and those two clowns just can’t keep up.” Matches for this telecast: - Bob Sweetan defeats Pete Doherty with a pile driver. - The Missing Link w/ “Warlord” Jonathan Boyd defeats the Zebra Kid with a guided diving head butt. - The Nightmare defeats El Faron with a gord buster. - Steve Regal and Spike Huber defeat “Gentleman” Jim Breaks and “Squire” Dave Taylor after spike dropped a knee off the second rope on Breaks. - In the Main Event, this week’s Holiday gift match sees TV Champion Bill Ash fall to “Hacksaw” Brett Sawyer via disqualification after Ash tries to run from the match and drills Sawyer in the head with his title belt after Brett came charging after, all in full view of referee Jack Terry.
