Georgia TV: 12/8/92 A Big Fumble Recovery
Dec 10th, 2012, 5:41pm

"GEORGIA CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING"
TAPED: SATURDAY MORNING, DECEMBER 8, 1982 @ 10 AM
WTBS -TV STUDIOS ATLANTA, GEORGIA
BROADCAST: SATURDAY NIGHT, DECEMBER 8, 1982 @ 6:05-8:05
ANNOUNCERS: JIM ROSS, RICH LANDRUM, FREDDIE MILLER
REFEREE: SCRAPPY MCGOWAN

Ross and Landrum welcome the fans to the show. Jim says tonight’s program will be just an hour long. He encourages the fans to stay with WTBS, as John Sterling brings them the action of the Atlanta Hawks taking on the Seattle Supersonics from The Omni.

That mini-promo brings out Jack and Jerry Brisco. The fans give them a standing ovation, which really moves them since they recently lost the AWA World Tag Team Championships. Jack thanks the fans but Jerry gets down to brass tacks. He says that the deal was a no-time limit match today. Since the show is only an hour, that cuts down on the time they can win The Anderson’s $20,000 of Thanksgiving money. Evidently, somebody played the backstage power card to set up the challenge in the first place. Jack calms down his younger brother and says two can play that game. He calls out Ole, Arn, and Gene.

The reigning National tag Team Title holders come out. Arn automatically goes after Jerry. He says that the winner today gets the Christmas Night shot against the World Tag Team Champs, Jesse Ventura and Adrian Adonis. He and the “bald eagle” just need to step aside and let momentum roll. Jack chimes in and says that Ole isn’t the only person with influence backstage. He talked to George Scott and got two concessions. First, the match will be for the National Tag Team Titles. Second, Gene Anderson is barred from ringside. Jack and Jerry shake hands with the announcers, as The Andersons go ballistic. The challengers head to the ring.

Ross says that “big time arena match” is next.

National Tag Team Championship
*Jack/Jerry Brisco vs. Ole/Arn Anderson
The Briscos isolate the angry Arn in their corner early on, working on his right knee. Jerry charges in on Arn but loses track of how close Arn is to his own corner. Ole brings the younger Anderson back toward him. Jerry tumbles through the ropes and hits the floor hard, as the show goes to a commercial break.

The show returns, just as Ole lands a shoulder breaker on Jerry. Quick tags wear down the right arm and set up Jerry for a step over arm bar. Jack comes in to try to break things up but it only makes things worse. Eventually, Arn asks for the final blow to be his. Ole allows it and tags his cousin in. Arn and Jerry crack heads. The studio fans are on their feet, as the second commercial break arrives.

The show returns to the conclusion of the match, as Jerry makes the hot tag to Jack. A running shoulder block sends Ole through the ropes. He and Jerry go at it there. McGowan goes over to try to get them to their corners. Arn gets in a low blow and goes to the middle turnbuckle. He tries for a double axe-handle. Jack catches him in a bear hug and pops his hips. He jams Arn hard into the mat with a belly-to-back suplex. McGowan makes the pinfall count @ 13:00.

NEW NATIONAL TAG CHAMPS: JACK AND JERRY BRISCO

The Briscos celebrate with the fans, as Ole consoles Arn. Ross ends the segment with the remark that this could make The Andersons even angrier. That will not be a good thing. Landrum says losing $20,000 will do that. Tony Atlas will wrestle next.

Roddy Piper comes out in a three piece suit. He says that, today, he has left the creativity at home. He has one simple message to convey. George Scott, you need to keep your nose out of “Hot Rod” business. There will be severe consequences if you don’t.

*Tony Atlas defeats Thunderfoot I with a full nelson @ 4:28.

Atlas says that he is tired of the games that have been played by Paul Orndorff and Rock Riddle. Cartoon watches and designer shades are supposed to get in his head? Well, it worked. He is livid with the thought that he is not a cartoon side show. If Orndorff wants to treat him like a clown, Atlas will throw it back on him. He takes a clown wig from under the desk. He challenges Orndorff to face him in a match in Marietta on December 27. The loser wears this everywhere for 30 days. He gets close to the camera and tells Orndorff to get some guts.

Rip Rogers is up next.

*Rip Rogers w/Randy Rose and Norvell Austin defeats Don Serrano with a brainbuster @ 4:00.

After the match, ME, INC. starts to kick at the beaten Serrano. Sweet Brown Sugar, Steve Olsonoski, and Wendell Cooley come out and exchange blows with the heel trio. The Express runs, and Landrum meets the faces, at ringside.

Ross says that he heard Nick Busick got a sheriff’s job transfer out of Georgia. He wondered who was going to step up to even the odds against The Midnight Express. Cooley says he is glad to do it, since that coward Gordienko claimed “visa problems” have caused him to fly the coup. Olsonoski and Sugar says they aren’t trying to fool anybody. There will be no question “who will be facing who” when he and Steve are in the Christmas Night TV Tournament at The Omni. Olsonoski says they won’t be hard for Rose and Austin to find.

Billy “Superstar” Graham is next.

*Superstar Billy Graham defeats Barry Horowitz with an over-the-shoulder back breaker @ 5:00.

Graham talks with Ross at the desk about the end of the Humperdink bounty matches. Graham says “that fat dude decided to stop throwing his money away”. The Superstar train has rolled out of the station and it is gaining speed. He vows to make a stop in Atlanta on Christmas Night and pick up some precious cargo: the National Television title. He begs Ron Bass to give it all he has to get in the finals. When he faces Bass in that tourney he will put Betsy where he will not have to worry about sunscreen.

Landrum says that Kareem Mohammad is due up next. But Rich says that Mr. Wrestling II is looking for him. Fireworks may flare up next.

Mr. Wrestling II comes out to the podium. He and Ross look at the attack on Masked Superstar at the end of his match with Ernie Ladd. Once again, Mohammad goes for the mask. Wrestling II says nobody messes with his mask and he wants to show that to Candy right now. Mohammad throws Jerry Grey over the top rope before the bell. Mohammad says for II to come on in so he can beat his name into him.

*Kareem Mohammad w/Sir Oliver Humperdink vs. Mr. Wrestling II
Wrestling II has the former Ray Candy set up for the million dollar knee lift at the 9:00 mark. Humperdink throws powder in the masked man’s face to get the DQ @ 9:27.

Hump is joined by Ernie Ladd, who clotheslines Wrestling II in a wicked move. In a shocking turn of events, Masked Superstar comes in and clears the ring by swinging a chair. The heels bail. II gets to his feet and stares at the ‘Star. MS lays down the chair and leaves the ring area without a word.

Ross bids the audience good-bye, reminding them to watch the Hawks next.

Great TV...Darn the Hawks for costing us an hour of rasslin!  Congrats to the Briscos!  Big comeback after losing the World Titles...Scott better heed Piper's warning...I am really pulling for Atlas, Orndorff in the clown hair would be a riot...MX and Sugar's threesome should be good...I hope SBG wins the TV Title...Loved the main event...I wonder if II and Superstar can trust each other enough to take on the HOH...Great stuff Johnny!
