AWA Mid-South Championship Wrestling Taped Friday, Dec, 7, 1982 (aired 12-8-82) at the Irish McNeil Boy's Club in Sherveport, La. The show opens with a shot of the Superdome and Superdome Extravanza coming Saturday, Dec. 22 then fads to video action clips of Mid-South stars North American Heavyweight Champ the Masked El Canek, the Mid-South Tag Team Champs The Rogeau Brothers, The Spoiler & 'Maniac' Mark Lewis w/mgr. 'Playboy' Gary Hart, Junkyard Dog, 'Dirty' Dick Murdoch & "Killer" Karl Kox, Mid-South Jr. H. Champ Tony Charles, Mr. Wrestling Tim Woods, The Los Infernales w/mgr. Percy Pringle III, manager Rock Hunter and AWA World Champs Chief Wahoo McDaniel, tag team champs Jesse Ventura & Adrian Adonis and jr. champ Tiger Mask before the Mid-South logo hits the screen as we fade to the studio desk with the announcing team of "Cowboy" Bill Watts and Boyd Pierce. Bill and Boyd welcome the fans back for another hour of AWA Mid-South Championship Wrestling. Bill says they have some big news this week. First, we have new AWA World Tag Team Champions. Next we have VTR from Heartland with new AWA World Tag Team Champs Jesse Ventura & Adrian Adonis being interviewwed. The new champs are looking forward to competition and says they are looking forward to coming to New Orleans and the Superdome Dec. 22 and partying on Burbon Street and whipping the poor competition in Mid-South. Second, Bill announces the AWA Mid-South Women's One Night Tournament will be held Thursday, Dec. 13 in the Coast Coliseum in Biloxi-Gulfport, Mississippi. Six ladies will be competing including Sherri Martel, Wendi Richter, Candi Divine, Debbie Combs, Winona Littleheart and Lelani Kai.Third, Watts states that Harley Race will be in Shreveport, Friday, Dec. 21 to participate in the Brass Knuckles tournament along with 'Bruiser' Brody and the competition will be tough. Next they announce some names coming to the Superdome including Abdullah the Butcher & The Shiek, 'Bruiser' Brody, Baba the Giant & Antonio Inoki plus the stars of Mid-South. Watts & Pierce show a VTR from last week where the Junkyard Dog defeated Frank Savage and was attacked afterwards by a masked black wrester wearing Stagger Lee's outfit and ko'd the Dog with a blackjack. JYD joins Bill & Boyd to comment on the match. Dog says he wants the impersonator Stagger Lee in the ring and he will take care of him man-on-man. First Match. Non-title match. 1 fall 10-minute time limit. North American Heavyweight Champ Akira Maeda time limit draw with Mr. Wrestling (Tim Woods). Commercial break includes interviews for local cards Ringside, the Mid-South Tag Team Champs Jacques & Raymond Rogeau join Mike McGuirk ringside to talk about what happened last week in the disqualification loss to the Los Infernales with their manager Percy Pring III. At the end of the match, Jacques pulled Pringle into the ring and referee Frankie Cain had no choice but to disq. them. Raymond says they are looking forward to putting the belts up against the mexicans and getting their hands on PP III. Second Match. Four Man Tag Team Match. 1 fall 10-minute time limit. Tom Jones & 'Porkchops' Cash dump the Eliminators at the 8:02 mark when Jones headbutt Eliminator 1 and got the pin. Commercial break includes interviews for local cards Third Match. Four Man Tag Team Match. 1 fall 10-minute time limit. The Masked Spoiler 1# (Don Jardine) & 'Maniac' Mark Lewin w/mgr. 'Playboy' Gary Hart over Terry Latham & Ricky Fields at the 4:32 mark when the Spoiler used the Claw on Latham got get the pin. After the match, Hart talks about getting a match with the Mid-South Tag Teams Champs and getting the belts back on the real tag team champs. Hart adds they are looking at the new AWA World Tag Team Champs. Commercial break includes interviews for local cards Fourth Match. Non-title match. 1 fall 10-minute time limit. Hiro Matsuda w/mgr. Rock Hunter & Prof. Tora Tanka sleepered Mike Stallings at the 7:43 mark. Commercial break includes interviews for local cards Fifth Match. Non-title match. 1 fall 10-minute time limit. The Masked Stagger Lee lost by count out to Armand Rogeau when Junkyard Dog came ringside and SL bailed from the ring with JYD in hot pursuit. Rogeau got the win at the 8:10 mark. Commercial break includes interviews for local cards Before the programs ends, Junkyard Dog comes back to the desk and demands that Mid-South put him in a match with the imposter Stagger Lee. JYD says he wants a Dog Collar match so Lee can't bail out of the ring and he can beat the hell out of him. He wants it in the Superdome. Matchmaker 'Grizzly' Smith comes out and tells JYD he will get the match signed immediately. Bill & Boyd wrap up today's card and tell the fans to tune in next week for more on the Supedome card and more action next week on Mid-South Wrestling.
