NWA MACW TV 12 18 82 Who has whom?
Dec 19th, 2012, 7:40am

NWA Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling 12 18 82 – Taped at WRAL Channel 5 in Raleigh, NC for syndication throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and parts of Tennessee and Ohio. Hosts: Bob Caudle and David Crockett.

Bob Caudle and David Crockett welcome everyone to the show and Caudle tells the fans there is an action packed hour instore for them.

Crockett: “That’s right…JJ Dillon and his men, Bobby Duncum, Hulk Hogan and Dory Funk, Jr. will be here as well as The NWA World Heavyweight Champion, The American Dream, Dusty Rhodes.”

Caudle says also on today’s show the NWA World Tag Team Champions, Gino Hernandez and Jimmy Garvin will face number one contender’s Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood in a non-title match.

“WHERE ARE THEY???!!!!!!” a loud bellow from off camera is heard as the fans cheer the world champion, a very angry, Dusty Rhodes joins Caudle and Crockett.

“I wanna know where are they, David Crockett!” Dusty says as he glares at Crockett.

“Now Dusty, we don’t want any trouble out….” Crockett tries to explain before being cut off.

“Trouble! Trouble! I’ve got nothin’ but trouble for JJ Dillon and Bobby Duncum after what they did to me last week!” Dusty counters. And before Crockett can stutter something else out of his mouth, Dusty speaks again.

“David Crockett, you go get Sandy Scott, Jim Crockett or whoever you gotta get cuz I want Bobby Duncum and I want him NOW!”

Crockett scampers off to find higher ups while Bob Caudle uses his professional announcer background to calm Rhodes down a bit.

“Dusty, after what happened last week, I know all the fans out there want to know how you are doing and how is your son, Dustin?”

Rhodes: “Let me tell ya something, Bob Caudle, you’re a family man, and you know nobody messes with family! Do ya hear me talkin’! Bobby Duncum, JJ Dillon you have stepped over the line threatening my son. You’re dealing with the dealer now. You’re dealing with risky bizneth, Jack!”

Rhodes walks off and Bob introduces the first match.

MATCH 1 – JUMBO TSURUTA & MASSA FUCHI defeated KEITH LARSON & MIKE BOYETTE in 5:03

David Crockett mentions we will be seeing a lot more of the team of Tsuruta and Fuchi in the coming months.

Paul Jones comes out and Bob Caudle asks him what he thinks of the Rhodes-Duncum situation. Jones says he would hate to be in Duncum’s boots with world champion on his tail. Jones says if Dusty Rhodes needs help in dealing with JJ Dillon, he will be happy to lend a hand.

BREAK 1 ==============000000======================

Hulk Hogan and Dory Funk, Jr. come out with JJ Dillon.

David Crockett makes an almost giddy remark about it might not be safe for Dillon to be out here with Dusty looking for him and Duncum.

Dillion: “Look at these two men beside me, David Crockett, I assure you I am quite safe. Who could get past The Incredible Hulk Hogan? And nobody hates Dusty Rhodes more than a Funk! So I feel very safe indeed. I know Sandy Scott has put a roadblock infront of Hogan here to protect Terry Allen and his United States Heavyweight Title. This will not work as Harley Race or anyone else will find out. “

Hulk: “Look everyone knows I am the uncrowned United States Heavyweight Champion. That puny Terry Allen can’t handle these 24 inch pythons once I get him in the ring, it’s over for you, Allen!”

Funk: “You know, I knew Mark and Jay Youngblood’s Dad way back in the day, and while the boys have their mother’s good looks and their father’s talent, they also have his hardheadedness. Mark just doesn’t know when to stop. Mark Youngblood when we meet up again in Chattanooga, this time, I am going to hurt you and send you home injured for good.”

MATCH 2 --- GEORGE WELLS defeated CHRIS HAMRICK in 4:21 with a shoulder block.

George Wells is joined by Brickhouse Brown and Koko B Ware. Ware says while they have a few hurdles to jump through, they are sure they will beat Johnny Weaver and Nelson Royal for the Mid Atlantic Tag Team Titles. Wells says he knows Mike Rotundo is a fighting champion, but George says 1983 will be his year and he is going to start it by winning the Television Title.

BREAK 2===========000======================

United States Champion Mangum Terry Allen comes out and he is with Ricky Steamboat, Jay Youngblood and Mark Youngblood. Allen says he doesn’t care if he has to face Race or Hogan in Chattanooga on New Years’ Eve. He says he made a vow to defend the belt against anyone and neither man intimidates him.

Bob Caudle asks Allen to pick a winner between Race and Hogan. He says Race might be the toughest man in or out of wrestling he has ever known, but Hogan has Dillon. Allen didn’t pick a winner but said he is ready for either of them.

Mark Youngblood says “Squiggy” Funk can try to degrade him all he wants but he will be ready for the $100,000 Challenge in Chattanooga.

Ricky Steamboat: “In just a few short moments, Jaycen and I will see what the NWA World Tag Team Champions have to offer when we get in the ring with them. This non-title match is the best gift they could ask for in evaluating Gino Hernandez and Jimmy Garvin.”

The world tag team champions come out. Garvin shoves Steamboat and says this match will be a nightmare for him and Youngblood. With that, Hernandez and Garvin jump into the ring awaiting the match to begin.

Non-title Match:
MATCH 3 – GINO HERNANDEZ & JIMMY GARVIN versus RICKY STEAMBOAT & JAY YOUNGBLOOD.

Youngblood and Steamboat dominate the match for the first five minutes leaving the studio crowd on the edge of their seats. Hernandez and especially Garvin become victims of quick tags and armdrags that keep them off of their feet.

At the seven minute mark, Hernandez clips Youngblood’s knee and the young star is in trouble. Garvin and Hernandez work on Jay’s knee. Steamboat tries to come in and break up the double teaming but is stopped by referee Sonny Fargo. This causes more damage to Jay, as Gino and Jimmy continue the assault.

Hernandez drapes Jay’s leg over the bottom rope while Garvin comes off the top turnbuckles with a stomp to the knee. Youngblood is in serious trouble now. Garvin goes for the pin, but Jay kicks out.

Hernandez is tagged back in and goes outside of the ring, wrapping Youngblood’s leg around the ring post. Hernandez doesn’t even try to break the count as he is intent on breaking Youngblood’s leg. Steamboat comes over and chops Hernandez off of Jay. The referee calls for the bell at 8:55 giving the match to Steamboat and Youngblood by countout. Garvin attacks Youngblood in the ring.

Steamboat knocks Gino to the floor and goes after Garvin in the ring. Ricky gets Garvin off of Jay as the Tag Team Champions reunite next to Bob Caudle.

Hernandez: “We told you, it would be a nightmare!”

Steamboat glares at Hernandez and Garvin as he tries to help Youngblood to his feet, but Jay is having trouble standing.

Garvin: “Now those two can be called Footnote and Wounded Knee! HAHAHAHA! They are finished!”

The world tag champions walk off as Keith Larson, Mark Youngblood and Ricky Steamboat help Jay Youngblood to the back.

BREAK 3 ============00000=====================

Mid Atlantic Television Champion Mike Rotundo says he is excited about the opportunity to defend the TV Title against George Wells. He says Wells is a great athlete and has wrestled the best in the business. He says a win over George would be a huge accomplishment.

Bob Caudle adds his opponent in the ring is one half of the Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champions, Nelson Royal. He says Royal is not to be taken lightly. Rotundo agreed and says facing Royal with be a tough test as well.

Mid Atlantic Television Title:
MATCH 4 -- MIKE ROTUNDO © versus NELSON ROYAL
Royal gives Rotundo all the hard hitting action he can handle. Mike counters and shows his skills at times flustering the veteran Royal with his moves. Things become chaotic when Royal uses the ropes to pin Rotundo and seemingly winning the match and the belt. Mike is stunned. Koko B Ware and Brickhouse Brown come out and tell referee Stu Schwartz what happened. Sandy Scott comes out and confirms the infraction. The match is started again. George Wells joins Ware and Brown as the watch on.

Royal hits Rotundo with a cheap shot and goes for the bulldog. Mike pushes him off hard and Nelson slams into the corner turnbuckles. Mike then connects with a backslide pin on Royal to get the win at 9:01.

The fans cheer as Ware and Brown congratulate Rotundo on the win. George looks at Rotundo then shakes hands with him and they leave the ring.

An angry Nelson Royal goes over to David Crockett and says this would’ve never happened had his tag team partner, Johnny Weaver been here. The disgusted Royal is about to say something else but says nothing and storms off.

This brings in Mid Atlantic Heavyweight Champion, Iron Sheik.

Sheik: “AhDavid Crockett, I am the Mid Atlantic Heavyweight Champion. Where is my match against US Champion AhTerry ALLEN, or world champion, AhDusty Rhodes. They are afraid of Sheik! They know Sheik will hurt them. Sheik will pin them. Sheik can beat anyone in the world.”

Sandy Scott comes back out. He tells The Iron Sheik, his cheating with foreign objects has been a problem. He adds, that maybe it’s time someone should beat The Iron Sheik at his own game.

Sheik: “Nobody can beat Sheik, in no game. Sheik and Iran is number one, USA is number zero!”

Scott: “Well Sheik, I have a short video clip from a man who thinks otherwise”

Crockett throws it to the clip.
VTR: Abdullah the Butcher is destroying, what looks to be a picture of a smiling Iron Sheik, and eating it. Then his large frame gets closer and closer to the camera, until all you see is an out of focus closeup of Abdullah’s chest. As the camera goes black, you hear a huge crash and a loud scream!

Sheik is dumbfounded.

Scott says in Chattanooga, “This is the man you will be putting the MidAtlantic Heavyweight Title on the line against!”

Scott walks off, leaving the Iron Sheik standing there. Crockett asks Sheik, “What do you think of that?”

Sheik: “Sandy Scott you and everyone will pay for putting me in the ring with that Sudanese Dog!”

BREAK 4 ===============000=============================

Bob Caudle is joined by a couple of young wrestlers who call themselves, “The Rock-n-Roll Express”. Caudle says since their debut a few weeks ago, the promotion has received a lot of mail from fans want to know more about them and see them again on television.

Ricky Morton does all the talking saying it’s a real thrill for them to be in the Mid Atlantic Area. They say their number one goal is the NWA World Tag Team Titles but they know to get there they will need to be Mid Atlantic Tag Team Champions first. He says the teams in Mid Atlantic Wrestling are tough, but “Baby, it’s time to Rock-n-Roll!”

MATCH 5 – RICKY MORTON & ROBERT GIBSON defeat AL SNOW & JOEL DEATON in 5:55.

James J Dillon comes out with Bobby Duncum. Dillon wonders to David Crockett if he heard Paul Jones right?

“That he wants a piece of J.J. Dillon? Well, I will tell you what, Paul Jones. If you want a piece of me we can make that happen. I am so sure I will wipe the floor with you, on December 31st in Chattanooga, lets have a loser leaves town match, we can even make it no disqualification. Jones you are a pain in my…. neck, that I am about to get rid of.”

Sandy Scott comes back out and tells Dillon he is sure Jones will accept the terms in order to get his hands on the manager. But Scott says he has other issues to deal with as well. He tells Dillon and Duncum that NWA World Champion Dusty Rhodes has offered a contract to Bobby Duncum for a match December 31st at the UTC Arena for the NWA World Title. All Duncum has to do is sign this contract. Scott hands him the contract.

Dillon and Duncum celebrate as Duncum signs the paper and hands it back to Scott.

Dillon: “Dusty Rhodes you will soon be an ex world heavywe…..”

WHAM!!!!

Rhodes comes out and nails Bobby Duncum knocking him into Dillon. Dusty then smashes Duncum several times with his elbow and throws him in the ring. Both men tear into each other as the fans go nuts at ringside. In a matter of moments, wrestlers from the back come out and separate the two as Bob Caudle signs the show off the air.

“That’s all for this week, folks. Join us next week, until then, so long for now!”

END OF SHOW=============0000=============================

Great TV!  Dusty/Duncum is really building nicely...Tsuruta/Fuchi is a team with great potential...I like the whole Hogan/Race/TA set up...Dory is gonna mess poor Mark up for calling him Squiggy - Even if I had a good chuckle at it...Liking the Wells, Brown, Ware trio...Good stuff with the WTT Champs and Steamer & Youngblood...Great win for Rotundo, but where is Weaver?  Sheiky baby vs Abdullah should be quite the brawl...Jones vs Dillon, loser leaves town?  WOW!  Fantastic work Carl!

Dillon may be a genius but you have to wonder. Wrestling Jones? Messsing with Dustin? It just doesn't bode well. Rotundo and Wells was set up well, in addition to mentioning Weaver. Hogan and Race is a fantasy dream match. Jay gettting injured is a bad omen for the World Title push. Good, sensible start for Morton and Gibson. Abby is going to be tough for the suplex master Sheik to handle.

Great show.
