Moondogs Rex, King, & Spot(w/Mr.JR) take on the popular trio of Iceman Parsons, Johnny Rich, & Scott McGhee. Rich takes a terrible beating from the ‘dogs for several minutes, but manages a hot tag to Iceman at just the right time. The tide turns and eventually, Parsons pins Spot after a rumper stumper at 10:09. 2. The Midnight Express (w/Jim Cornette) take on Giant Baba & Antonio Inoki. This is a close match all the way. Dennis and Bobby pick up their biggest win in WCCW to date as Bobby pins Baba after a clothesline off the top rope after Condrey clips Baba’ knee, which the Express had worked on the entire bout, from behind. Time of the bout: 17:01. 3. David Shults locks up with Bruiser Brody. As could be expected, this is a wild brawl that sees the two men spend as much time on the floor as in the ring. Dr.D comes up with a countout win at 10:09 as he beats the count after posting Brody, who bleeds buckets! After the bout, Shults pounds Brody with a steel chair and attempts a piledriver on the floor, but Brody backdrops out of it! The two men continue to fight for several minutes after the bell until several officials break them up! 4. Terry Funk squares off with Andre the Giant! Early on, Andre throws Funk around and the former NWA Champ bumps like a pinball. Funk gets the advantage and goes to work on Andre’s leg. After weakening Andre’s leg for several minutes, Funk goes for the finish with a spinning toehold. Andre kicks Funk off…Funk goes flying into the corner and his head hits the ringpost! Funk comes staggering out of the corner and falls to the mat semiconscious! Andre gets up and splashes Funk for the three count at 12:07. 5. Stan Hansen defends the American Title against former Double Cross Gang ally Cowboy Scott Casey. Hansen controls much of the match and Scott takes a real beating! Hansen looks to be on his way to a win as he goes for the lariat! Casey ducks under it and backslides Hansen! One…two….THREEE! SCOTT CASEY IS YOUR NEW AMERICAN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION!!!!!! 6. Since World Class isn’t big enough for two Killers, Killer Khan (w/Mr. JR) battles Killer Tim Brooks in a Loser Leaves Town Match! Khan attacks Brooks at the bail and knocks him out of the ring. For several minutes, Khan keeps Brooks on the floor, but keeps breaking the count to dole out punishment to Brooks. Brooks finally gets into the ring and beats Khan from pillar to post! It looks like Khan will be leaving WCCW! But JR turns the tide of the match as he slides a chair into Khan and then climbs on the apron to distract the ref! Khan wallops Brooks with the chair and then hits an over the knee backbreaker! Khan gets the three count as the fans scream in protest! Killer Khan will stay in World Class. 7. Chavo Guerrero puts the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Title up against Chris Adams. This is a fast paced match and is clean with the exception of a few shortcuts from Chavo. When Chavo is in control, he concentrates on working the lower back. Finally< Chavo goes for the kill and applies the Mexican Ceiling Hold on ADAMS! Chavo has it locked in and has Adams elevated…..right in the middle of the ring! Adams can’t break the hold! Referee David Manning realizes that Chavo’s shoulders are on the mat! Manning makes the count! ONE…TWO…..THREE!!!!!!!! CHAVO GUERRERO HAS BASICALLY PINNED HIMSELF AND CHRIS ADAMS IS YOUR NEW WORLD JUNIOR HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION!!!!!!! The crowd goes wild! Iceman Parsons, Scott McGhee, the Von Erichs, and Johnny Rich all run in and congratulate Adams as Chavo argues with the referee! What an incredible situation here in Dallas! 8. Kerry & Kevin Von Erich defend the Texas tag Titles against Sgt. Slaughter & Don Kernodle. If Slaughter & Kernodle win, they not only win the championship, they will cut Kerry & Kevin Von Erich’s hair and put them through Slaughter’s Cobra Corps boot camp. If the Von Erichs win, Slaughter has agreed to pay up the $5,000 Cobra Clutch Challenge prize that Kevin is owed. The Von Erichs start fast, but Slaughter & Kernodle take advantage of a missed Kevin dropkick and give the eldest Von Erich brother quite a pounding for several minutes. Finally, kevin mamages a hot tag to Kerry! Kerry hits the ring like a house afire and cleans house! Kerry applies the stomach claw on Kernodle, presses Don above his head and slams Kernodle to the mat! Referee David Manning counts three and the Von Erichs prevail! Slaughter lives up to the stipulation and hands Kevin the check for 5 grand that he earned previously. Time of the bout: 22:57. 9. The arena is darkened and “We Are The Champions” by Queen blasts over the sound system. A single spotlight foollws NWA World Champion Disty Rhodes to the ring. Rhodes is dressed in a silver sequined robe and is greeted mostly by boos. The music changes to “Texas When I Die” by Tanya Tucker and David VoN erich enters the arena, dressed in a blue rig jacket with a yellow rose and Texas flag emblazoned on the back! David receives a hero’s welcome as he comes to the ring and he stops to give a young lady at ringside a yellow rose and a kiss on the cheek. David enters the ring and …what’s this? Terry Funk, flanked by Stan Hansen, enters the ring. Funk takes the house mic from Mark Lowrance and speaks: FUNK: Dusty Rhodes, tonight, the future of professional wrestling is in your hands. I don’t like you and I never have, but at least you paid your dues and worked your way to the top. You represent people like me and Hansen here, people who fought for everything we have and paid our dues. David Von Erich, my daddy was a big time wrestler just like your daddy, but unlike Fritz, Dory Funk Senior didn’t hand me World Title shots on a silver platter! He made me start out in grade school gyms and National Guard armories all over West Texas! Last time David here was in a grade school gym was two years ago when he graduated 8th grade! Dusty, this new generation we’ve got coming up will ruin this sport we made great! You gotta beat this boy tonight! We’re counting on you! With that, Funk and Hansen exit the ring! Rhodes takes the fight to David early, battering him with punches and elbows. David fights back with a dropkick that sends Dusty reeling out of the ring! David suplexes Rhodes back into the ring and controls the action for the next several minutes. Rhodes comes back with a series of elbows and works on David’s legs for several minutes, obviously working toward the figure four. After a huge bodyslam, Dusty comes off the ropes, leaps high into the air , and drops the bionic elbow…and hits the mat as David rolls away! Both me get up slowly and David applies the sleeper! Rhodes is fading fast, but manages to make the ropes and break the hold! David hits the high knee and then applies the iron claw! Rhodes goes to his knees, but fights back with a series of punches to David’s gut! David finally releases the hold. Now, Dusty peppers David with jabs and winds up with the flip, flop, fly and then hits the big elbow! David is stunned and Dusty suplexes David and gets a two and a half count. Rhodes tosses David out of the ring and follows him out. Rhodes goes to whip David into the ringpost……David reverses! Rhodes is busted open and David applies the claw, dragging Dusty back into the ring! Dusty grabs David around the waist and lands an inverted atomic drop! David holds onto the claw somehow! Now, Dusty punches his way out of it! David ducks s big right hand, goes behind Dusty and rolls him up in a victory roll! One…TWO….Dusty pulls the tights and reverses! One…two…THR…..David reverses! ONE…TWO….THREE!!!!!DAVID VON ERICH PINS DUSTY RHODES!!!!!!DAVID VON ERICH IS THE NEW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD!!!!!!! David’s father and brothers are in the ring. Dusty leaves the ring and grabs the title belt and the house mic! David hands the belt to the new champion! DUSTY: David Von Erich, the American Dream is man enough to admit when he lost clean in the middle of the ring, baby! Terry Funk, you are a fool, brother! This man gave me the fight of my life! Von Erich, if I had to lose, at least it was to an American and a Texan, baby! I want you to know one thing, daddy, the Dream will be back for that title! With that, Dusty leaves the ring as David is lifted onto the shoulders of Kerry, Kevin, Fritz, Mike, and Iceman Parsons and is carried around the ring as he holds the World Title belt high in the air!
