Championship Wrestling from Florida presents: Southern Championship Wrestling Telecast 12/29/82 across the Sunshine State with Gordon Solie, Buddy Colt and Barbara Cleary *All matches sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance* Interviews and Announcements: - Gordon opens the telecast with the announcement that there is a new NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion, the Englishman Chris Adams, who defeated Chavo Guerrero in Dallas, Texas on Christmas night. Gordon adds that Mr. Adams will be coming to Florida in the coming weeks and we will be hearing from him soon. He also informs the fans that there is a new NWA Southern Heavyweight Champion, Greg Valentine, whom we will hear from later on in the telecast. - Kevin Sullivan tells Buddy Colt that he wants revenge on Jake Roberts for all he took from him in 1982. “Think back to January, Roberts. Think back and remember that I was the lord and master of the Clan. I ruled Florida. I chased down every beast in the fields, even the bull of the woods. I was the King of the Mountain. Then you challenged me and my authority. You took away my clan. I became a lost soul, felt no pull from the power of Abuddah Dien. You stripped me of my name, making me hide behind a mask of silver until my hatred of you finally broke through. Now, I am once again in tune to the will of Abuddah Dien. Now, I have purpose. And in 1983, Jake Roberts, I’m going to crush your Legion of Doom and strip your snake hide clean from your body. And that Roberts isn’t a threat. It is a promise.” - Florida Heavyweight Champion Butch Reed tells Barbara that he’s been serious the past few weeks because he knew the threat was serious. “Don’t get me wrong Barbara. Bob Sweetan is a bad man. One of the toughest men in this sport. That man hasn’t been called ‘Mr. Pile Driver’ because of a charming disposition. He beat on me Tuesday night, and I just beat back a little harder. And if Bobby Sweetan wants to keep trying to beat on me, he can keep finding out just how tough this man really is.” - Promoter Eddie Graham tells Buddy that after watching film of the Florida tag team championship match from Tuesday night, he has asked the NWA board of directors to make a conclusive ruling about who should hold the titles. “And while I do have a seat on the NWA board, because my son is involved in the match, I’ve asked to be excluded from casting a vote as to remove any sense of partiality. The six remaining members of the board, including NWA President Vince McMahon, will render a decision in the next 2 weeks. But until then, the titles are held up.” - Southern Heavyweight Champion Greg Valentine joins Gordon and it is obvious that he has something to say. “Where are the doubters now Gordon? I told everyone that Barry Windham couldn’t go 60 minutes with a real championship level wrestler, and what do you know? He couldn’t. Maybe he’s at home with more ice on his knee, hoping that I didn’t cripple him. Maybe he’s back in Texas crying to his loser father. Or maybe Gordon, he’s doing what’s best for his career and hiding from me. Because now I’m the one who’s calling the shots. I’m the one that is going to get the shot at the World Heavyweight Champion. Just like my father before me, I’m the Southern Heavyweight Champion. But I’m going one step beyond my dad’s career. I’ve been to the top and I’m going back to the top of the mountain and I won’t have any snakes, or devils, and especially no punk kids from Texas getting in my way anymore! Matches for this telecast: - Kelly Kiniski defeats El Faron with a Canadian back breaker. - Spike Huber and Steve Regal defeat Cowboy Parker and “Cowboy” Tony Falk after Huber dropped a knee across the throat of Parker. - Florida Television Champion Brett Sawyer defeats “Squire” Dave Taylor with a side Russian leg sweep. - “Warlord” Jonathan Boyd defeats Shane Douglas with a shot from the Doomsday glove while King Curtis Iaukea distracted referee Gilberto Roman. - In the TV main event, former TV Champ “Professor” Bill Ash defeats Mike Graham after Jesse Barr showed up at ringside yelling how Graham’s father stole his tag team belt. Gordon says that this victory over the former World’s Junior Heavyweight Champion will certainly set Ash up as a top contender to Chris Adams.
