We cut to the ring and “Texas When I Die’ blasts over the Sportatoriumk sound system. Here comes the entire Von Erich family! Kerrryleads the way with young Chris on his shoulders, holding the NWA World Title belt high in the air. He’s followed by Kerry, Kevin, Fritz, Mike, Doris, and the new NWA World Champion, DAVID VON ERICH! The Sportatorium crowd blows the roof off the old building, cheering and yelling!
 
MERCER: An incredible moment for World Class Wrestling and the fabulous Von Erich family!
 
The Von Erichs enter the ring and David takes the mic.
 
DAVID: Thank you, Dallas, thank you to my family, and thank you, God! We just had the greatest Christmas EVER! YEEEEEEHAWWW! I want to thank a great champion, “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes for giving me the title match. Now, I’m going to travel the World as the NWA Champion, but this will always be home! I’ll always carry Texas in my heart and never forget that you people made me what I am! I’m going to be a champion that you all can be proud of. Dad, you always said you were raising us boys to be World Champions and I give you all the credit in the world.
 
FRITZ: Son, I am the proudest man in the world right now. I held the AWA Title years ago, but it just wasn’t the same. You’ve done me proud, your Momma proud, and everybody in Texas proud! Now, I guess I have to take care of a few housekeeping chores. People have asked a lot of questions. First, the International Six Man trophy that means so much to us. The NWA has allowed us to pick a substitute for your brothers. Nobody can replace you, Dave, but we’ve picked Scott Casey to step in. In fact, he and Kerry and Kevin will wrestle the Russians and Don Kernoodle  here today for the trophy! Then, I’ve been asked how often David will defend the title in World Class. Just as often as the promoters here in Texas can get him! The promoters in Houston have already signed title matches for New Year’s Day and Valentine’s Day. We’ll do our best to have Dave defending on all of the major cards in Reunion Arena and Texas Stadium and right here in the Sportatorium. Now, maybe the biggest question: If Kerry or Kevin is deemed a top contender, will David wrestle his brother for the belt? These boys are able to speak for themselves on this issue.
 
DAVID: Dad, you taught me never to back down and I’ll take on all comers. I would never stand in the way of my brothers trying to be their best. If I wrestle Kerry or Kevin, you fans are guaranteed an exciting match and a clean match!
 
KEVIN: I’m just glad that one of us is finally World champion. There is no jealousy in my heart, but if a wrestler doesn’t want the World Title, he should find another line of work. Yes, I will wrestle Dave in a clean match if the NWA gives me the opportunity.
 
KERRY: I’m not gonna let the belt come between me and my brother, but I can’t turn down a World Title match, brother!
 
FRITZ: I just want to say one final thing: Thank you fans of World Class for supporting the Von Eirch family all these years. This is the culmination of years of hard work by me and by all of my sons. Keep supporting this family and we’ll always fight for you! God bless each and every one of you!
 
KERRY: We love you! Have a Happy New Year! 1983 will be the best year ever!
 
COMMERCIAL
 
Al Madril takes on Chick Donovan. Before the match, Mark Lowrance introduces Madril as “Prince Albert” and Madril corrects him, saying “Prince Albert was a figment of Alfred Hays’ imagination, you can call me “Al” or “Alberto”, but Prince Albert is dead!” Madril gets an impressive victory, using the Indian Deathlock as his finishing hold.

Former NWA World Champion Dusty Rhodes gets a mostly positive reaction as he wrestles Butcher Vachon.  Rhodes has a tough time with Vachon, but gets the pin after a huge bionic elbow.

FUNK: I’m here to talk about one “American Dream” Dusty Rhodes. Rhodes, you dirty, egg sucking dog, you let me and every other wrestler from the old guard and every real Texan down when you lost the World Title to that momma’s boy and phony cowboy, David Von Erich. You were a second rate champion anyway, especially when compared to my brother Dory and men like him! Your problem is that you spend too much time hanging out with hippies like Willie Nelson and weirdos like Andy Warhol and not enough time in the gym working out! I want you in the ring, Rhodes! It’s been too long since I gave you an old time West Texas tail kicking! You’ve got one coming for dropping the belt to Von Erich!
 
 
LOWRANCE: I’m here with one Jim Cornette, manager of the Midnight Express,  and “Dr. D” David Shults.  
 
CORNETTE: Yes, I gave the Midnight Express a few days off to celebrate the holidays. And while they’ve been off, I’ve been spending some of the Christmas present that my mama sent me, which was a big fat check for more money than these Texans make in a year! I went to David Shults and said, “Dr. D, if you’re going to beat up Von Erichs, you might as well get paid big bucks for it!” Instead of defending the honor of the Fabulous Freebirds, why not come to work for the greatest wrestling mind in the entire country? So, Dr. D has signed a managerial services contract with me for a ton of my mother’s money! And it’s already paid off! Tell’em, David!
 
SHULTS: I heard old man Fritz talking about New Year’s Day in Houston. Well, Jimmy Cornette here has got that contract for me! David Von Erich, I’m gonna take that World Title from you on January 1st! I’m gonna do it for Terry and Mike, but most of all, I’m gonna do it for Jim Cornette’s money!
 
CORNETTE: Kerry and Kevin, I want you boys to polish them Texas Tag Titles because Bobby and Dennis are ready and they want those belts! ON Christmas Eve, we beat the best Japan had to offer. When you boys have the guts to face the Midnight Express, we’ll take you down, too!
 
COMMERCIAL
 
LOWRANCE: I’m here with the challengers to the International Six Man trophy in today’s main event: Ivan Koloff, Nikolai Volkoff, and Don Kernodle. Don Kernodle, you and Sgt. Slaughter have had your problems with Kerry & Kevin Von Erich recently, and today, you face them with new partners and with Scott Casey added to the mix….
 
KERNODLE: Von Erichs, if there was any justice in the world, you boys would be wearing burr haircuts and doing pushups in Cobra Corps boot camp! I’m a patriotic American! Why am I teaming with a couple of Russian communists? Because I want the gold! I want that trophy! Casey can’t help you, boys! Sarge, I know you are watching and you didn’t want me to team up with these two guys, but this is my chance at a title, brother!
 
VOLKOFF: We finally get a title match in World Class. The Russian Bear and I will win this trophy for Russia and take it back to Soviet Union! As I have said before….World Class Wrestling, WE WILL BURY YOU!
 
KOLOFF: Don Kernodle, if you can do your part, today, we will be Six Man Tag Champions! Kerry Von Erich, your Texas Title will be ours! Scott Casey, your American Title will belong to Comrade Volkoff or myself! And David Von Erich, you will find the Russian Bear to be much tougher than this American Dream. We will hold all titles before we are through!(Holds up Russian flag) And we defeat you, as Nikolai said, we will bury you under the hammer and sickle of the Soviet Union!
 
It’s time for the MAIN EVENT! “LaGrange” by ZZ Top blasts over the PA and the Six man Champions come to the ring to face Kernodle and the Russians. Early on, Volkoff dominates the action with his awesome strength, but Kerry turns the tide by flattening him with a discus punch! Kernodle tags in and the champs take over! Kernodle gives his best effort, but in the end, falls prey to a bulldog from Casey and the Texans retain their trophy!
 
After the bout, Kernodle gets to his feet and gets breated by the Russians!  Volkoff and Koloff are in his face! Kernodle isn’t having it! Kernodle slugs Ivan! Volkoff nails Kernodle from behind! The Russians are beating Don down! Now, they have the Russian flag…THEY BURY KERNODLE UNDER THE RUSSIAN FLAG! Kerry, Kevin, and Casey come back in and run the Russians off! Kernodle has been humiliated by Koloff and Volkoff!
