AWA Mid-South TV 12-28. New champs debut.
Dec 30th, 2012, 3:33pm

AWA Mid-South Championship Wrestling
Taped Friday, Dec, 29, 1982 (aired 12-28-82)
at the Irish McNeil Boy's Club in Sherveport, La.

The show opens with a shot of Junkyard Dog unmasking the imposter Stagger Lee on Dec. 22 in the Superdome  then fads to video action clips of Mid-South stars North American Heavyweight Champ Akira Maeda, the Mid-South Tag Team Champs The Rogeau Brothers, The Spoiler & 'Maniac' Mark Lewis w/mgr. 'Playboy' Gary Hart, Junkyard Dog, 'Dirty' Dick Murdoch, "Killer" Karl Kox, Mid-South Jr. H. Champ Hiro Matsuda w/mgr. Rock Hunter, Mr. Wrestling Tim Woods, The Los Infernales w/mgr. Percy Pringle III, Professor Tora Tanaka with manager Rock Hunter, sensational Tom Pritchard and AWA World Champs Chief Wahoo McDaniel, tag team champs Jesse Ventura & Adrian oAdonis and jr. champ Tiger Mask before the Mid-South logo hits the screen as we fade to the studio desk with the announcing team of "Cowboy" Bill Watts and Boyd Pierce.

Bill tells the fans they have several announcements today, starting with the crowing of new Mid-South Brass Knuckles Champ 'Bruiser' Brody and a first-ever Women's Champ, Sherri Martell of New Orleans. A hot looking Sherri Martel joins Bill & Boyd at the desk to talk about being the first-ever champ in Mid-South and she is looking forward to defending the title against any challenger, any time and any place. Boyd says she will be facing Joyce Grable in Jaunary across the Mid-South area. She gets a big applause from the studio fans when leaving the desk. Following Martel is a familiar  face, 'Bruiser' Brody.

When the applause dies down, Brody says he is proud to hold a title that such greats as Bill Watts, Dusty Rhodes, Bob Sweetan & Stomper Johnny Quinn held over the years. 'Bruiser' says people tell him he's a tough man and he hopes to defend the title for a long, long time. The champ adds that he knows Harley Race is here today and he is one of the toughtest men in the busiiness. Him and Dick Murdoch, The Spoiler, 'Killer' Karl Kox & 'Maniac' Mark Lewin are capable of holding this belt. Brody adds to bring them on and he will knock them down. And he hasn't forgotten AWA World's Heavyweight Champ Wahoo McDaniel. We go to the ring for the first match of the day.

First Single Match. 1-fall 10-minute time limit. 'Bruiser' Brody (Brass Knuckes Champ) whipped Frank 'Executioner' Savage. (5:01).

Second Match. Single Match. 1-fall 10-minute time limit. Hiro Matsuda (Mid-South Jr. Champ) w/mgr. Rock Hunter stopped Armand Rougeau with the sleeper at the 9:01 mark.

After the match, Matsuda w/ Hunter join Bill to do commentary on Matsuda beating former champ Tony Charles in the Superdome Extravaganza on Dec. 22. Hunter says its just the beginnign of a new reign for the Hunter Organization. Prof. Tanaka is going to take the North American belt off of Akira Maeda and bring a second title home.

Third Match. Single Match. 1-fall 10-minute time limit. The young tag team of Tom Pritchard & Mike Stallings stopped the Masked Eliminators at the 7:33 mark when Pritchard nailed Eliminator 2# with the Super Kick for the win.

Bill & Boyd present a taped interview with 'Playboy' Gary Hart, the Masked Spoiler 1# & 'Maniac' Mark Lewin from the dressing room of the Superdome last Saturday night. Gary is enjoying splitting up the team of Murdoch & Kox. But Hart Enterprises has more important things coming up. They want the Mid-South tag team belts back. And every tag team in their way is forwarned, the Spoiler & The Maniac will do what they have to, to get their belts back.

Fourth Match. Single Match. 1-fall 10-minute time limit. An angry looking 'Dirty' Dick Murdoch destroyed 'King' Roy Lee Welch with the brainbuster at the 1:14 mark.

Immediatlely after the match, Murdoch goes to the desk to join Bill & Boyd. Dick is not happy and he goes on to explain to Bill, Boyd & the fans why. On Christmas Night in Alexandria, he participated in a $16,000 battle and it came down to him and 'Killer' Karl Kox. Murdoch says he offered to split the purse with his tag partner and close friend and Kox agreed. When he turned his back, Karl threw him over the top rope and collected the $16,000. Dick says the partnership is over with. As of right now, he wants KKK in any kind of match in any Mid-South city. Murdoch says he is going beat the turncoat from pillar-to-post. Kox made his beat now let him lay in it.

Before the atart of the last match, Bill is ringside with 'Handsome' Harley Race and welcomes him back to Mid-South. Race is to the point, he is here for money and titles. He likes the North American Belt and the Brass Knuckles title. And there is the AWA World's Heavyweight Belt held by Wahoo McDaniel whom Harley knows real well.

Fifth Match. Single Match. 1-fall 10-minute time limit. Harley Race over Terry Latham with a diviing headbutt and cover. (7:12).

Back at the desk, JYD joins Bill & Boyd to comment on unmasking the imposter Stagger Lee as Pez Whatley as VTR higlights are show from the Superdome Dog Collar Match. Dog says with him gone, he can concentrate on titles just as old Harley Race said. Bring it on. Every dog needs a bone to chew on. With that Bill & Boyd say to tune in next week for an appearance by AWA World's Heavyweight Champ Wahoo McDaniel.

Race and Brody in Mid-South has to make the fans winners, especially with bruiser having a Brass knucks belt. Martel? WOW! Enjoyed seeing the team of Prichard and Stallings. If Murdoch was after me like Kox, I wouldn't show up anywhere. The Rock Hunter Organization looks to be rebounding.

Good show.
