Southwest Championship Wrestling
House Show Loop Sampling
Week of Dec. 31 - Jan. 04, 1982

(The following is a sampling of matches from this weeks run of house shows in Southwest.  Not all results for each show is given here.....)

Monday Dec. 31 - Laredo TX - Municipal Auditorium

- Gary Young defeated El Halicon at 14:44 of a scheduled 15 minute match.  The match saw both men adhere to the rules, and wrestle a very clean and fast paced match.  As time was expiring, Young caught Halicon in a back slide for the decision.

- Al Perez def. Johnny Mantell in a wild one by DQ when Mantel used his bull rope and cowbell on Perez after 15:00 of action.  The two were on the floor battling when Mantell got his weapons from rinside and clocked Perez.

- Mil Mascaras def. "King" Carl Fergie at 13:57 by pinfall with a flying body press from the top rope.

Tuesday Jan. 01 - Brownsville TX - Cattlemens Arena

- "Killer" Tim Brooks def. Charlie Cook by pinfall after a reverse neck breaker at 8:41.

- Tito Santana def. Killer Karl Krupp by pinfall at 12:00 with a flying forearm>

- Hector & Mando Guerrero def. Dennis Stamp & "Oulaw" Butch Beckler by pinall when Mando landed his back flip body press from the top rope on Beckler at 17:03.

- Mil Mascaras def. Pat Rose with a flying body press from the top rope at 13:28.

Wednesday Jan. 02 - San Antonio TX - The Junction, TV Taping

- Tune into our tv program on Saturday for the results of this card!

Thursday Jan. 03 - Corpus Christi TX - Selena Auditorium

- The Fabulous Blondes def. Tiger Conway Jr. in a hadicap match by pinfall at 11:03.  Tiger's mentor Thunderbolt Patterson was supposed to have been his partner.  Tune into this week's tv show to see why he couldn't make it.

- Tully Blanchard pinned Jose Lothario following not one, but two slingshot suplexes at 20:00.  This was  a real battle as neither man backed down or gave an inch.  The two fought in the ring, out of the ring, and down the aisle way.  The referee was very liberal with the rules in this one as the fans wanted to see a winner.  Tully nailed Jose with the first suplex, and then quickly gave him another before pinning him.

Friday Jan. 04 - Galveston TX - Chaparrel Recreational Center

- In women's action, Sherri Martel pinned Susan Green with a flying head scissors after 9:00 of action.

- Southwest Tag Team Champions, The Fantastics bested The Galaxians in a title bout when Fulton and Rogers caught both Alpha and Beta with stereo body presses off the ropes.  Time of match was 11:39. The Galaxians didn't look like themselves in this match, and was speculated by a ringside fan that he didn't think it was the real Galaxians.  (The Galaxians have moved on to another territory, so two lesser talents were put under masks so as not to deliver a "no show".)

- The Spoiler retained his Southwest Heavyweight Title over Blackjack Mulligan in a bloody affair.  Mulligan took the fight to Spoiler, but Spoiler held his own and bloodied BJM on the floor.  He worked the cut for a while.  Mulligan and Spoiler engaged in another brawl on the floor, but Spoiler was able to get back in the ring before Mulligan as the referee hit 10 on his countout.  Mulligan was a step too late and lost by CO.  Time of match was 18:40

Very believable finish with Mulligan and Spoiler. Bet the fans were real riled up at Tully manhandling the revered Lothario. Mascaras getting in some impressive wins. Hope Conway rebounds. Cool detail with The Galaxians. Nice to see Mantell and Perez in a featured match. Liking this kind of catch-up.

Mickey, SWCW, IMO, is some of your best stuff. You have them firing on all cylinders. Keep it coming.
