NWA MACW TV 1/8/83 Famous Last Words...
Jan 8th, 2013, 8:10am

Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling taped 1 8 83 at WRAL Studios in Raleigh, NC for syndication on various stations in Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and eastern Tennessee weekend of Jan 11 thru the 13th. Hosts: Bob Caudle and David Crockett. NWA Representative is Sandy Scott.

The Atlantic States Tag Team Champions Koko B Ware and Brickhouse Brown join Bob and David to start off the show and say they want the Andersons today. Ware does all the talking as Sandy Scott joins them. He tells Scott, they are willing to put the belts on the line against whatever combination of Andersons that wants to get in the ring. Scott warns the duo, this is not a consideration to be taken lightly.

Ware, with Brown nodding in support, says they are tired of being treated like second class champions.

This brings out Gene, Ole and Arn Anderson. Ole tells Ware, first class wrestlers need to be holding a first class belt. This only makes Ware and Brown more angry.

Arn says they accept the challenge but Ware surprises them by saying they want the match right now. Scott is surprised as well, but Koko asks Scott to make it happen.

Ole mockingly pleads with Scott to make it happen. Scott reluctantly agrees.

For The Atlantic States Tag Team Titles:
KOKO B WARE & BRICKHOUSE BROWN versus OLE & ARN ANDERSON w/GENE ANDERSON

The match starts out Ware and Brown on fire battling Arn then Ole from one end of the ring to the other. Brown and Ware look sharp with swift double teams and quick tags but as the match progresses, while the fan favorites are still in control, the tags become less frequent and The Andersons, especially Ole is able to mount some offense.

The show goes into a commercial break with Ware holding Arn in solid headlock on the canvas.

BREAK 1 =============0000======================

The show returns with Brown holding Arn in a headlock.  The youngest Anderson is able to whip Brown into his corner where Ole is awaiting with a knee. Brown falls to the canvas as Arn tags in The Master of Pain.

Ole goes right to work on Brown and tags Arn back in. Brown is faster than both Ole and Arn and is able to escape the corner and tag in Koko. Koko goes after both Ole and Arn.  Ware is a ball of fire knocking down both Ole and Arn. When Gene Anderson gets on the ring apron, Ware gives him a headbutt.

While the fans cheered the move, it opened up an opportunity for Ole who knees Ware in the back. The future Birdman falls to the canvas. Ole then stomps Ware closer to his corner then tags Arn who has returned to the ring apron.

Arn is in total control while he works on Ware’s arm. At one point Arn extends Koko’s hand and arm towards the corner, mocking Brown to tag him. Brown stretches in vain to reach his partner, but Arn has him too far out and then sneers at Brickhouse.

Brown tries to enter the ring several times to help his partner but is unable to and only make’s Koko’s plight worse as the Andersons double team.

Ole and Arn’s tactics become more aggressive after several unsuccessful pin attempts. Both Andersons work Ware’s arm along the ropes. Ware is having problems moving the arm and fighting back. Every time he goes to scramble for an escape he is blocked off.

Arn gets overzealous while wrapping Ware’s arm in the ropes and stomping on it and doesn’t break by the referee’s count. After several attempts to force Arn to stop the attack, Young is pushed out of the way by Anderson. Young disqualifies The Andersons at 14:10.

Brown jumps in the ring and goes after Arn. He battles Arn until Ole starts to attack him. When Gene Anderson enters the ring, he disposes the rookie champion out of the ring. Meanwhile, Ole and Arn are working on Koko. Arn scales the top turnbuckles while Ole holds Ware in place. Ole extends the arm as Arn crashes into it with his knee.

Ware yells in pain as Ole orders Arn to do it again. Arn complies and Ware is nailed for a second time. As Brown gets on the ring apron he is met by Gene Anderson who knocks him back down.

Ole tells Arn to get back up there for a third time, when Sandy Scott enters the ring. Ole’s first instinct is to attack his former nemesis, but Gene holds him back. Scott orders the Andersons out of the ring while Ware lays on the canvas in pain and not moving his arm.

The Andersons leave as Brown, Young and Scott check on Koko who needs medical attention.

Ole, Arn and Gene go over to ringside with David Crocket.

Ole Anderson: “That is what happens when you step in the ring with the Andersons. Yeah, we got disqualified but next time we face Ware and Brown, they’ll be scared and those Atlantic Tag belts will be ours. Steamboat and Youngblood, I hope you are watching this because your fate lies along with theirs (pointing to the ring where EMTs are helping Ware who looks in rough shape), injured and soon to be defeated!”

BREAK 2 =============0000=======================

When we come back Caudle says we have some taped comments from The United States Heavyweight Champion Harley Race.

US Champion Harley Race: “I know it’s only a few weeks until I am back in the Mid Atlantic area and the contenders are lining up. Well, let me say something to those wanting to be the US Champion. It doesn’t matter if it’s Terry Allen, Wahoo McDaniel, or Hulk Hogan, this belt is MINE! It doesn’t matter what your home court looks like, Richmond, Greensboro, Charlotte…the end result will be the same. And me regaining the NWA World Title will be another step closer to reality.”

Wahoo McDaniel is with Caudle when the tape ends. Wahoo says his quest to be world champion again will put him against Race. He says the United States Heavyweight Title is the most direct path to that belt and that is one of the reasons he is here in the Mid Atlantic. He adds Roger’s Elite have been running their mouths a lot. He says he is no stranger to Hogan, Piper or Zbyszko. He adds Rogers could be the most dangerous man in wrestling due to his political clout and cunning mind. Wahoo ends the interview saying whether it’s Race or Hogan, or Piper or anyone else he is ready for any kind of action.

Charlie Daniels’ Band’s “In America” plays thru the studios as a leather clad Harley Davidson with an American Flag bandana makes his entrance.
MATCH 3 – HARLEY DAVIDSON defeats TOM LINTZ in 6:01 with a huge boot to the head.

The 6’7 320lb Davidson goes over to David Crockett.
“Wooooweeeeee! I tell ya, this ol’ mountain boy is happy to be in the big city of Raleigh! You know, David, I hear the competition is tougher here than anywhere in the whole wide world. So many hungry competitors and those Anderson boys are just plain mean.  From where I come from, we love our hogs, and I aint talkin about those smelly kind either, and we love a good scrap!”

Crockett: “Well, you came to the right place!”

Davidson: “I’m telling ya! You know gotta love the good ol’ USA, Mom’s apple pie and some butt kicking Mid Atlantic Rasslin’”

BREAK 3 =====00000=======

Mid Atlantic Heavyweight Champion The Iron Sheik joins Bob Caudle.

Sheik: “AhBob Caudle what was this hairy ape man who was out here earlier? Was this the prime example of wrestlers in America? What kind of Hillbilly was this? AhBob Caudle, I am AhMid Atlantic Heavyweight Champion. I am greatest AhMid Atlantic Champion ever and now I want the AhUnited States Title and the AhWorld Title. I will prove to everyone, and the big ape man, Iran number one, USA number zero!”

NWA Television Title:
MASTER G w/ERNIE LADD defeated RICKY RICKARD in 7:32 with a football spike tackle.

Master G and Ladd walk over to David Crockett. G stands holding his NWA Television Title while Ladd talks about how great the champion is now that he is under Ladd’s influence. He tells G the sky is the limit.

Out comes, one half of the Atlantic States Tag Team Champions Brickhouse Brown. Brown sounds desperate as he tells Crockett, Ladd and G, that Ware is injured and has been taken to the hospital possibly with a broken shoulder. Crockett looks concerned, while Ladd is almost amused.

Ware listens to Brown but says nothing.  Brown asks if he would be his partner and fill in for Ware defending the Atlantic States Tag Team Titles against The Andersons. Brown says he, Ware and G uses to be very close.

Brown looks annoyed by the request but finally gives an answer.

G: “Look Man, I am the NWA Television Champion, that means I am the Television Champion of the entire NWA. Too bad about Ware, but I’ve got my own problems to deal with. “

Brown is stunned. Then Ladd makes it worse.

Ladd: “You know maybe you are looking at this wrong G. Young Outhouse here says he needs a partner to face the Andersons. Now a few weeks ago I was willing to offer my services for free, but maybe, the boy here can have a partner…for a price…say 25grand!”

G nods and agrees saying, “that’s a good idea!”

Brown is no longer stunned, he is repulsed. He silently shakes his head knowing he has been betrayed. He then turns and walks off as Ladd and G laugh.

BREAK 4 =================00000============================

Buddy Rogers comes out with his Elite, Larry Zbyszko, Roddy Piper and Hulk Hogan. Hogan says he owns Wahoo McDaniel a little payback from a night last summer in Chicago. He adds, Race will have to face him and put the US Title up. He says that night Race’s world title dreams come to an end.

Larry Zbyszko says Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood have to return to Mid Atlantic Wrestling soon and says they will have to face two of the three of them and when that happens, The Elite will have their first world gold.

Piper: “Wahoo McDaniel! Heyhowareya, Heyhowareya, Heyhowareya!! Heh heh-uh. So the big bad Injun Chief wants to play back in the big leagues. Well, let me tell you something, brother, aint nobody scared of no injun running around here thinking he is so tough. You want tough, brother, I will show you tough, you old cigar Indian. RP, knows tough, RP knows crazy, RP….”

“Doesn’t know when to shut up”! A voice bellows off mic from up in the ring.

Magnum Terry Allen from the ring, tells The Elite, they can back of their words in the ring.

Piper gives Allen his deadpan unimpressed look while Zbyszko tells Caudle that Allen cannot do that, this is their interview time. Hogan threatens to break Allen in half. Rogers looks on silently. But none of them take up the offer.

MATCH 5 – MAGNUM TERRY ALLEN defeats GOLDEN BOY GREY in 6:30 with a belly to back suplex.

As Allen is getting the pin, Piper and Zbyszko charge the ring and attack the fan favorite. Hogan then joins in but Rogers is nowhere around. The three start to work over Allen until Wahoo McDaniel, Paul Jones and Mark Youngblood come out and even the numbers. Wahoo chops Piper out of the ring and stares at Hogan.

The four fan favorites go over to David Crockett.

Allen: “This is the kind of fight you guys want, well this is the kind of fight we can give you. (Allen then shakes hands with Wahoo), Chief, Paul and Mark, I would love to have any of you as partners to get rid of Hogan, Piper, Zbyszko and Rogers!”

END OF SHOW===================0000===============================

World Wide Wrestling taped 1 8 83 at WRAL Studios in Raleigh, NC for syndication on various stations in Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and eastern Tennessee weekend of Jan 11 thru the 13th. Hosts: Rich Landrum and Johnny Weaver. NWA Representative is Sandy Scott.

Landrum welcomes everyone to the show and Weaver says The Andersons are on rampage. Rich then throws it to a vtr from MACW.

The Andersons, Ole, Gene and Arn come out. Ole says this is what will happen to anyone who dares to stand in their way.  Arn adds there are “about to hurt another couple of suckers in the ring, right now”.

MATCH 1 – OLE & ARN ANDERSON w/GENE ANDERSON defeat DAVY O HANNON & STEVE CASEY in 7:45 with Arn coming off the top turnbuckle with the shoulder smasher on Hannon.

Ole, Arn, and Gene Anderson go over to Landrum and are approached by one half of the Mid Atlantic Tag Team Champions, Brickhouse Brown. He is restrained by Sandy Scott and Johnny Weaver.

Ole tells Brown he is a gluten for punishment. Anderson tells Weaver and Scott to let him go.
Brown says he doesn’t care if he has to face The Andersons by himself, he wants them. Scott tells Brown he’ll get his chance but not here and not now.

Arn then tells Brown, “It’s too bad you don’t have any friends to help you. You should’ve been smart and took Ernie Ladd’s advice.”

That only makes Brown madder. Then a surprise move.

Johnny Weaver stands in front of Brown while Scott is holding on to him.

Weaver: “You know what, Arn. Brickhouse if that offer still stands, I’ll be your partner against the Andersons.”

Arn is speechless as Ole tells Weaver, “that might be the dumbest idea, you’ve ever had!”

But obviously, Weaver has rattled the cage of The Andersons as they were not expecting the move. Brown looks appreciative at Weaver and agrees.

The Andersons walk off as Brown stands with Weaver who is with Landrum.

Landrum asks Weaver if he is sure about the move. Weaver replies there are three people who know the Andersons inside and out. He says he, Wahoo McDaniel and Paul Jones have battled the Andersons for years and know what they are capable of. He says he is happy to be Brown’s partner.

BREAK 1 =========000000============================

Magnum Terry Allen comes out with Paul Jones. Jones says The Elite and Buddy Rogers have shown their true colors. Landrum shows a tape from MACW.

Allen says Piper must’ve forgotten how tough the competition is in the Mid Atlantic, but “the boy in the skirt” is about to learn the lesson again.

MATCH 2 – THE ORIENT EXPRESS: KIM DUK & THE NINJA versus MIGHTY IGOR & KING COBRA go to a 10minute draw.

Wahoo McDaniel comes out and is joined with Mark Youngblood. Wahoo says if The Elite want to fight in groups, they can do that. He says Hogan should remember the beating he gave him months back. He then says Piper runs his mouth, but it’s time for him to put up! When Landrum asks Wahoo about US Heavyweight Champion, he says he and Race are on a collision course and he will be US Champion.

Mark Youngblood says he will be in the corner of the Chief, or Magnum Terry Allen or Paul Jones whenever they need the help. He adds he is looking at The Iron Sheik’s Mid Atlantic heavyweight Title and Master G’s NWA Television Title.

BREAK 2 ===================000000================================

NWA Television Champion Master G with Ernie Ladd joins Landrum. G says Mark Youngblood is as dumb as the Mighty Igor if he thinks he can beat him for the TV Title. Ladd says maybe he and G should team up and go after the NWA World Tag Team Champions, Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood.

MATCH 3 – THE ROCK N ROLL EXPRESS: RICKY MORTON & ROBERT GIBSON defeat LARRY LANE & JUAN REYNOSA in 5:59.

Morton and Gibson join Landrum. Morton does all the talking saying they are ready to face any team in the area. He calls out The Orient Express and The Andersons.

BREAK 3 =============00000======================================

The Elite with Buddy Rogers comes out. Hulk Hogan flexes his muscles, while Piper sneers at the camera, Zbyszko starts off.
“You know there is a lack of respect in this area. Guys like this, Magnum Terry Allen, who have accomplished nothing in this sport, seem to have a lack of respect for those of us, like myself, Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper and Buddy Rogers who own this sport. It’s time Terry Allen learned some respect.”

Roddy Piper: “You see, it’s all very simple, Mr. Landrum. It’s mind over matter, I don’t mind and Paul Jones, Terry Allen and Wahoo McDaniel don’t matter!”

Hulk Hogan: “Youhoo McDaniel likes to brag about things that never happened. I beat Wahoo McDaniel to within an inch of his life when he was AWA World Champion, now he wants to come over here and say he is better than me. When I beat Harley Race for the United States Title, then I will beat Youhoo McDaniel all over the Mid Atlantic area and retire that wooden Indian once and for all.”

Charlie Daniels’ Band’s “In America” fills the studio.
MATCH 4 – HARLEY DAVIDSON defeated BARRY HOROWITZ  with a big boot to the head in 5:25.

Davidson comes over to Landrum.

“How you doin’, Mr. Landrum? It’s a great day to be in the Mid Atlantic area. You know, I bleed red, white and blue. These colors don’t run…never have never will! I love America and I am honored to be here and I just cant stand to see someone like the Iron Sheik run this country down and showing disrespect to the wrestlers he faces. He’s lucky to be here, making money in this great country. You know I am big enough to take care of myself. I’m 6’7 320lbs and can fight with the best of them. If Sheiky Baby wants to call me an ape… that’s fine…let him step in the ring and afterwards he can call me Mid Atlantic Heavyweight Champion. Thank you, Mr. Landrum. “

BREAK 4 ===============00000=========================

The Iron Sheik comes out.
“AhRich Landrum, I am not Sheiky Baby, I am The Iron Sheik and the Sheik is the greatest wrestler in the world. The Sheik is the MidAtlantic Heavyweight Champion. This big ape thinks he is better than Sheik. I will prove to him no one is better than the Sheik.”

MATCH 5 – IRON SHEIK versus TRACY SMOTHERS.
The Iron Sheik is completely flustered in this match. His mind is elsewhere and the young rookie is taking advantage of it. Smothers makes a move, Sheik counters, Tracy counters again. It’s that kind of day for the man from Iran. The champion, more agitated by the match than in trouble of being pinned, loads his boot and kicks Smothers in the stomach. Smothers hits the mat, Sheik covers the “young gun” and feels assured of victory, but Tracy’s leg stretches to the ropes. Now the Sheik is really ticked off. He attacks Smothers and pummels him repeatedly. The referee tries to pull him away but Sheik will have none of it as he keeps attacking him. Referee Sonny Fargo disqualifies The Iron Sheik at 8:03, but the Sheik continues.

The fans cheer as Charlie Daniels’ plays over the speakers and Harley Davidson comes out from the back. As Sheik looks around and sees Davidson coming in the ring. He splits and the show ends with Davidson pointing his finger at The Iron Sheik.

Harley is the type of wrestler that would go over big here. I like Rogers and his Elite going after Wahoo and his boys. That is the kind of rivalry that would put butts in the seats. A great well-written match with The Andersons taking out Ware. Gotta admit that I marked out for Weaver standing up to Arn and Ole. Like the association of Ladd and Wells.

Great stuff.
