AWA Mid-South Championship 1-5-82)  
at the Irish McNeil Boy's Club in Sherveport, La.  
 
The show opens with a shot of Junkyard Dog unmasking the imposter Stagger Lee on Dec. 22 in the Superdome then fads to video action clips of Mid-South stars North American Heavyweight Champ Akira Maeda, the Mid-South Tag Team Champs The Rogeau Brothers, The Spoiler & 'Maniac' Mark Lewis w/mgr. 'Playboy' Gary Hart, Junkyard Dog, 'Dirty' Dick Murdoch, "Killer" Karl Kox, Mid-South Jr. H. Champ Hiro Matsuda w/mgr. Rock Hunter, Mr. Wrestling Tim Woods, The Los Infernales w/mgr. Percy Pringle III, Professor Tora Tanaka with manager Rock Hunter, sensational Tom Pritchard and AWA World Champs Jerry 'King' Lawler, tag team champs Jesse Ventura & Adrian Adonis and jr. champ Tiger Mask before the Mid-South logo hits the screen as we fade to the studio desk with the announcing team of "Cowboy" Bill Watts and Boyd Pierce.
 
Bill & Boyd tell the fans they have a huge announcement to start today's show. On December 31 in Memphis, Tenn., Jerry 'King' Lawler defeated Wahoo McDaniel for the AWA World's Heavyweight Championship. As we announced last week, the AWA World's Heavyweight Champ would be here today and he is. Out comes Jerry 'King' Lawler (wearing a crown) and the AWA Belt. Lawler joins Watts & Pierce at the desk for an interview. Jerry says it was only a matter of time because he knocked off the old indian. Lawler says he will be the greatest champion of all time and doesn't see any decent challengers here in Mid-South. Jerry says there ain't anybody here he can't whip. Watts asks him if he would like to wrestle today and show the fans how 'great' he is. Lawler  
 
First Match. Single Match. 1-fall 10-minute time limit. Akira Maeda (North American Heavyweight Champ) pinned El Halicon with a single led Boston Crab at the 6:13 mark.
 
Following the match, Bill presents a video from Baton Rouge from Jan. 2 of a match between 'Dirty' Dick Murdoch & 'Killer' Karl Kox that ended up a bloodied Kox get the decision when Murdoch was disqualified by the ring offical for refusing ro follow the rules.

Second Match. Single Match. 1-fall 10-minute time limit. The Masked Spoiler 1# (Don Jardine) w.mgr. 'Playboy' Gary Hart defeated Dennis Stamps with the Claw hold at the 8:20 mark.

Third Match. Single Match. 1-fall 10-minute time limit. Prof. Tora Tanaka w/mgr. Rock Hunter over Mike Stallings with a an unseen karate thurst to the throat for the pin at the 8:45 mark.
 
Commercial break includes local interviews
 
Fourth Match. Four Man Tag Team Match. AWA Mid-South Tag Team Champs Jacques & Raymond Rogeau defeat Los Infernales (Pirata Morgan & El Satanico) w/mgr. Percy Pringle III at the 7:56 mark when Raymond catches Satanico in the sleeper for the win. PP III throws up his arms in digust and walks away from his team after the match.

Watts tells Lawler his opponent is the Junkyard Dog. The King's eyes get big and tries to back out of the match. Bill reminds Jerry that he said he could beat anybody in Mid-South and he is giving the champ a chance to do it.  
 
Fifth Match. Single Match. 1-fall 10-minute time limit. Junkyard Dog by count out over AWA World's Heavyweight Champ Jerry 'King' Lawler who consistantly bailed from the ring and finally stayed on the ring floor at the 5:53 mark to the jeers of the fans.

Back at the desk, Bill & Boyd wrap up today's show and remind the fans to tune in next week for more AWA Mid-South Wrestling.

Great TV!  Kox/Murdock is just heating up...Great stuff from Lawler/JYD...PP III needs to go back to the drawing board...Fine work!

I can't wait to see who Percy brings in. It has to be a step up. I never cease to be amazed with The Spoiler. Good to see The Rougeaus keep rolling. Lawler and JYD set the show on fire, though. Great booking in the main. The crowd would have been livid!

Ditto on Pringle, Hunter & Hart have left him in the dust as far as managerial mastery.  Solid play for JYD to be a contender & get Lawler on the defensive in the area.
 
The brief bit for Murdoch, however, was the one that caught my attention.  Well put-together show.
