NWA WWF MSG 1/6/83 Bravo vs. Dibiase final chapter
Jan 13th, 2013, 3:22pm

WWF Wrestling
From Madison Square Garden
Airing on MSG Network
1/6/83

KING TONGA w/ARMAN HUSSEIN DEF. CHIEF JAY STRONGBOW
Tonga is brutal in making quick work of the chief with a thrust kick to the face and pin.

CHAVO GUERRERO DEF. BUDDY LANDEL w/BOBBY HEENAN
Chavo is looking good off of his jr title loss, he uses his high flying skills to keep the crowd into it and keep buddy down. Buddy uses some dirty tactics to take over the match for a few minutes but Chavo takes it right back and after hitting a cross body block on him, he makes the cover and gets the pin.

BIG JOHN STUDD w/BOBBY HEENAN vs. IVAN PUTSKI Double DQ
This match is back and forth but Studd can only keep the Polish Star down for so long, finally after enduring punishment from Studd, Ivan fights back and after a clothesline sends both men over the top rope, they brawl on the outside using chairs on each other and making the ref DQ both men.

TENRYU w/ARMAN HUSSEIN DEF. ROCKY JOHNSON
Rocky comes out and really takes over the match in the first few minutes, but Hussein proves to be a big asset for Tenryu outside the ring. He keeps interfering causing Rocky to concentrate on him, leaving Tenryu to control the match, he wears down Rocky as he works over the back, he gets two counts on him until Rocky comes roaring back. Rocky looks to have the match won, but Hussein again interferes, with Rocky’s back turned, Tenryu sneaks up and rolls him up for the pin.

INTERMISSION- It is announced that with his win, Tenryu will get a shot at Dino Bravo next month at MSG.

WWF TAG TITLE MATCH:

TONY GAREA/RICK MARTEL vs. MR FUJI/MR SAITO w/ SKANDOR AKBAR and ARMAN HUSSEIN
Garea and Martel really have the tag science down together, they tag in and out as they work over Saito. They give Fuji more of the same once he tags in. This looks to be over shortly but Fuji gets upper hand on Garea. They work over Garea and keep him in there corner, they will not let up as they beat on him, prompting Martel to keep coming in and trying to save his partner, but this makes the ref chase him out and allows them to double team him. Martel gets the crowd behind Garea and they are cheering for him. Finally, Garea makes the hot tag and Martel comes in fired up. He takes out both Saito and Fuji, he even nails Arman who climbs up on the apron. He and Garea both take it to each of their foes and after Garea tosses Fuji to the outside, he slingshots Martel onto Saito and he makes the cover getting the three count.

WINNERS and STILL CHAMPS: TONY GAREA and RICK MARTEL

WWF IC TITLE MATCH:

DON MURACO w/LOU ALBANO vs. PEDRO MORALES

Former champ Morales is trying to get the title back and starts off fast working over Muraco and not letting him have much offense. Pedro has the crowd behind him as he goes for numerous two counts. Pedro wants that belt back, but Don slows himself down and takes control of the match, he works over Pedro giving him all kinds of holds to make him howl in pain. Pedro still gets offense but only so often, finally Muraco just hits a clothesline and then delivers the tombstone piledriver and gets the pin.

WINNER and STILL IC CHAMP: DON MURACO

WWF TITLE MATCH:
DINO BRAVO vs. TED DIBIASE w/ARMAN HUSSEIN and SKANDOR AKBAR

Ted comes down in front of his mangers but does not pay any attention to them, during the match he does not listen to their instructions at all, this leads to them leaving ringside half way through the match. This match is back and forth with both men pulling out all the stops, Bravo really looks good using his strength to wear down Ted, but Ted is cunning and uses some tactics to work over Bravo. Both men get near falls throughout the match. Ted actually wrestles better once his managers leave the ringside area. Ted gets him up in a body slam and then drops a fist off the second rope but only gets two count, this surprises him as it usally ends the match, Dino then suplexes him and powerslams him. He gets him up in a side suplex and delivers. Finally, he makes the cover and gets the pin.

WINNER and STILL WWF CHAMP: DINO BRAVO

Well, I think that Landel has risen to his highest level here. Surprised that Studd didn't put Putski away. Kudos to Ivan's effort here. Rocky was robbed. Glad to see Martel and Garea retain. DiBiase left the WWF with a very classy effort.

Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience!
