NWA MACW TV 1 15 83 One Step Closer
Jan 15th, 2013, 12:54pm

Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling taped 1 15 83 at WRAL Studios in Raleigh, NC for syndication on various stations in Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and eastern Tennessee weekend of Jan 18th thru the 20th. Hosts: Bob Caudle and David Crockett. NWA Representative is Sandy Scott.

Bob Caudle and David Crockett welcome everyone to the show then Crockett trips over his words in excitement announcing the NWA World Tag Team Champions, Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood are here this week. Caudle says he knows “all the fans are as excited as you are to see the world champions so let’s bring them in here.”

Steamboat and Youngblood come out with their golden eagle belts and shake hands with the hosts. Steamboat says they are looking forward to facing the best competition all over the world, whether it be here in the Mid Atlantic, Florida, Toronto, New York City, Texas, Georgia, Japan, or anywhere else.

The World Champions are confronted by Gene, Ole and Arn Anderson. Ole interrupts Steamboat saying he is glad Steamboat and Youngblood have had a chance to do some traveling but it’s time for the World Titles to come back to where they belong, to the Andersons.

Arn jumps in and says “everyone knows how we demolished the Atlantic StatesTag Team Champions, Nuthouse Brown and Koko B Gone, now it’s time for our reward.”

Youngblood chimes in at Arn,”You, Arn Anderson haven’t accomplished anything, you’ve injured Ware but you don’t have the belts, which makes you just another contender. “

Arn bristles but Gene calms him down. Ole says even if that is true, there is still the Minnesota Wrecking Crew to deal with. He adds he and Gene have been world tag team champions numerous times and will be so again. “Think about it, Steamboat and Youngblood!”

With that The Anderson Trio walks off .

Steamboat says he and Youngblood have an open contract to defend the World Tag Team Titles against anyone who signs on the line. He says if the Andersons want a shot, they’ve got it.

MATCH 1 – RICKY STEAMBOAT & JAY YOUNGBLOOD defeat RICKY JOHNSON & JUAN REYNOSA in 7:32 when Youngblood pins Reynosa.

United States Heavyweight Champion Harley Race comes out in a suit and Crockett tells him he is a marked man. Race replies dryly, “That is the norm when you are a champion.”

Race starts talking about his quest to become the NWA World Heavyweight Champion again. As he is speaking he is joined by Chief Wahoo McDaniel also wearing a suit and his ceremonial Native American headdress.

Race holding the US Title Belt tells Wahoo if he wasn’t to fight, he is more than ready. Wahoo says he doesn’t want to fight but acknowledges the two of them are on a collision course as they both want the same thing: The NWA World Title.

Race says compliments Wahoo saying, “If any man other than myself knows what it takes to be World Heavyweight Champion, it’s Wahoo.” He adds however, “That doesn’t mean you are going to accomplish your goal, McDaniel, I am the United States Champion, I will remain United States Champion, and I will become once again World Heavyweight Champion.”

Wahoo tells Race, he will not be world champion after the two of them meet, “I can assure you of that!”

BREAK 1 =====000000==================

Gene, Ole and Arn Anderson come back out saying it’s only a matter of time before they World Tag Team Titles are resting with The Andersons again. Then Ole turns his attention to the Atlantic States Tag Team Titles. He says Johnny Weaver offering to be Brickhouse Brown’s partner to face us in defense of the titles is, “dangerously stupid.” He says they will do to Weaver what they did to Ware.

MATCH 2 – GENE & OLE ANDERSON w/ARN ANDERSON defeat STEVEN CASEY & PHIL WATSON in 6:30 when Ole pins Watson.

NWA Television Champion Master G comes out with Ernie Ladd. G says Mark Youngblood is too young and too stupid to be taken seriously as a contender for the belt. He adds his coach, Ernie Ladd, is working on strategies to makes sure “The Master’s reign is a long one!”

Ladd starts calling out everyone from Wahoo McDaniel to Terry Allen to Andre the Giant saying none of them are safe from him.

BREAK 2 ================0000=========================

Tommy Seigler joins Bob Caudle and The Ninja and Kim Duk stand are also there. Seigler says it was only a few short years ago he was considered the greatest wrestling and Martial Arts expert in the world. So much so he was banned from the Orient. He says two other men were banned from the same place recently, The Ninja and Kim Duk. He says he will lead these men to Mid-Atlantic and World Tag Team gold.

MATCH 3 – THE ORIENT EXPRESS: THE NINJA & KIM DUK w/TOMMY SEIGLER defeat RICKY RICKARD & DAVEY O HANNON at 5:54 when The Ninja catches Rickard with a hard sidekick to the jaw.

Buddy Rogers comes out with his Elite members, Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper and Larry Zbyszko. Rogers says it’s good to see the future former world tag champions, Steamboat and Youngblood. He says as soon as his men get ahold of them, they will be former champions.

Crockett bravely/stupidly says none of The Elite deserve a shot at the World Tag Team Titles because they haven’t beaten anyone. Rogers looks annoyed and tells Crockett, “I have my ways.”

Hogan starts in on Harley Race saying soon Race will have to defend the US belt against him “and that, brother, will be the end of Harley Race, I assure you of that! Then, I can focus on the World Heavyweight Title.”

Roddy Piper chimes in, “Yes, yes, titles, fame and glory! Well you see, Roddy Piper just likes to beat people up. And, one of those I would like to beat up is this Magnum Terry Allen. Oh yes… he is all man, dripping with manliness, like an Irish Spring commercial. Well, let me tell you something, brother, if you think ol’ RP is a pushover, you’ve got something else coming to you Mister Wannabe Television Star. You might have the moustache, but you ain’t no Hollywood Star, ain’t that right Hulky?! Mr. Wannabe Television Star, Roddy Piper is no wannabe anything. I am! Huh huh uh! And I am what I am… if it’s good enough for Popeye the Sailor, it’s good enough for me and good enough for you, jack!”

Larry Zbyszko, kinda left a little dumbfounded, calms the tone, “You know, it’s quite simple, we are here to control and dominate wrestling, not just here in these miserable Mid-Atlantic States but in all of wrestling. You’ve got the best and the brightest being led by a legend. This is the recipe for success. Watch us and learn something. “

BREAK 3 ==========0000==============================

The Atlantic States Tag Team Champions, Brickhouse Brown and Johnny Weaver come out. Brown says they are ready for the Andersons. Weaver says no one outside of Paul Jones and Wahoo McDaniel knows the Andersons as well as him. He says he is proud to help out Brown and says when Koko comes back, he will give his part of the title back to him.

MATCH 4 – BRICKHOUSE BROWN & JOHNNY WEAVER defeat TOM LINTZ & RED DOG LANE in 6:03
when Brown gets the pin on Lintz with a missile dropkick from the top turnbuckles.

Magnum Terry Allen comes out and is joined by Paul Jones and Wahoo McDaniel. Allen says being jumped by The Elite sent a message they are cowards. He says along with Jones and The Chief he knows he has his back covered. Allen adds Roddy Piper might be tough, but he needs to stay out of his sister’s closet and face him like a man one on one.

Paul Jones says the Elite are a combustible situation waiting to happen. He adds Rogers must be holding their leashes with a very thin rope. He adds Zbyszko thinks they are so smart, “well, if he’s so smart why is he hanging around with Rogers, Piper and Hogan?”

Wahoo says Hulk Hogan seems to want a lot of things, “Well if he wants Race, then he needs to take a number and stand in line. Hogan, you’ve tried everything to be world champion. Every easy path you can find, you have used. But if you want to be world champion, you are going to have to work for it. You are going to have to work to beat guys like myself and Harley Race. And so far, you haven’t proven you can do that!”

BREAK 4 ===================0000=============================

Harley Davidson comes out and shakes hands with David Crockett and Bob Caudle. He says it’s great being in the Mid-Atlantic area but says some things just aren’t right.

The crowd boos as an unpopular wrestler makes his way to the ring.

Davidson continues, “And one of them is that fella from Eye-ran, right there”

"YOU!!!!!!" A voice bellows from the ring as the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion Iron Sheik sees Harley Davidson at ringside. Sheik jumps out of the ring and walks over to where Caudle and Davidson is standing.

“Ut-oh, looks like Sheiky Baby is heading over here,” Davidson tells Caudle.

“I am not Sheiky-Baby, you big dumb ape!” Sheik tells Davidson. “You come out here and insult Sheik. I am Mid-Atlantic Champion. You think you are strong, Sheik is stronger, you think you are smart, Sheik is smarter.”

Davidson retorts with a grin: “If I said I were ugly would you say Sheik is uglier?”

“Bah!!! You are a big dumb fool. Sheik is not worried about hillbilly and Sheik is good looking too!” Sheik says as he walks off and heads to the ring.

MATCH 5 – IRON SHEIK versus WALLY KERNODLE. Kernodle has a great showing against the Mid-Atlantic Champion, who seems flustered. But in the end, Sheik loads the boot and kicks Kernodle in the head for the win at 8:10.

Davidson gets in the ring and argues with the referee about the loaded boot of the Sheik’s. The Sheik attacks Davidson from behind and the two men fight until wrestlers rush from the back to separate them as the show goes off the air.

END OF SHOW ===========================0000===========================

World Wide Wrestling taped 1 15 83 at WRAL Studios in Raleigh, NC for syndication on various stations in Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and eastern Tennessee weekend of Jan 18 thru the 20th. Hosts: Rich Landrum and Johnny Weaver. NWA Representative is Sandy Scott.

United States Heavyweight Champion Harley Race joins Landrum and Weaver. Race says if his quest to become NWA World Heavyweight Champion again means he has to go through, Wahoo McDaniel, Hulk Hogan or Terry Allen, then so be it. He says he will become world champion again.

MATCH 1 – HARLEY RACE defeats KING COBRA in a competitive match that saw Cobra get a couple of near falls on the champion, but Race wins with a piledriver at 9:12.

As Race is leaving the ring, he sees Hulk Hogan walking with Roddy Piper, Larry Zbyszko and their manager, Buddy Rogers.  As Piper, Zbyszko and Rogers go over to Landrum. Hogan stops and has words for Race. Race invites him to get in the ring. Hogan gets on the ring apron while Race stands in the center of the ring. Rogers gets on the ring apron and talks Hogan down. Race smirks and leaves the ring.

A heated Hogan gets on the microphone, “It’s only a short period of time, Old Man! A short period of time before I am the United States Champion and then World Champion, an no one will stop me. No One!!!”

Piper says Hogan is all worked up and that will not be a good day for old Harley Race. “Speaking of guys who will not have a good day, Manly Man Terry Allen, that wooden Indian, Wahoo McDaniel and that dwarf Paul Jones will not have a good day very soon. “ You see, it’s going to be a long night for those three guys when they face the greatest collection of talent ever assembled.”

Larry Zbyszko says a couple of other guys who will have a very bad day when they step into the ring with The Elite is the World Tag Team Champions, Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood. He says, The Elite will soon be collecting gold!

BREAK 1 ======================0000==========================

Paul Jones comes out with Wahoo McDaniel and Magnum Terry Allen. Jones says he wonders how Buddy Rogers can keep those three ego maniacs (Piper, Zbyszko, and Hogan) from killing each other. He says they like to fight gang war style, Jones says he has been in a scrap or two and knows the rules of fighting with no rules.

Magnum Terry Allen says he is looking forward to getting Roddy Piper in the ring one on one. He says he knows Piper would rather hide behind Buddy Rogers or someone else.

Jones chimes in again, “Maybe Rogers should wear the skirt! Hahaha!”

Wahoo says he knows Piper used to be tough but is acting like a sissy. He says Hogan wants a lot of things but when he gets into the ring with him or Harley Race, he is going to learn he is old enough for his wants to hurt him!

MATCH 2 – TRACY SMOTHERS, RICKY MORTON, ROBERT GIBSON defeated TONY ZANE, TOM LINTZ & RED DOG LANE in 7:33 when Lintz is pinned by Morton following a double dropkick.

Brickhouse Brown joins Johnny Weaver and the Atlantic States Tag Team Champions talk about facing the Andersons. This brings out the Andersons, Gene, Ole, and Arn, who challenge the champions to a match on television. Things get a little heated as Sandy Scott comes out. Brown and Weaver say they will face the Andersons on Television today. Ole agrees to the challenge. Scott okays the match but makes it a non-title match.

BREAK 2============0000=======================

Master G comes out with Ernie Ladd. G says he will probably be NWA Television Champion forever. Ladd agrees. Landrum mentions he has a pretty tough opponent in the next match as he has to defend the belt against The Mighty Igor. G says he isn’t worried. That changes when he is approached by Igor.

Igor: “You talk too much, get in ring and wrestle!”

Igor gets in the ring while Ladd is upset saying Igor is not even close to the athlete G is and predicts G will beat him in less than five minutes.

For the NWA Television Title:
MATCH 3 – MASTER G [C] w/ERNIE LADD versus THE MIGHTY IGOR.

Igor dominates G in the early going as Ladd goes crazy on the outside of the ring. Every time G went on offense, Igor either powered out of countered with a good move.  After the five minute mark, Ladd was on the ring apron when Igor slammed G into him. Igor went for the pin but G was too close to the ropes. G took a couple of cheap shots and gained the advantage, but it didn’t last long as Igor bodyslammed the champion. Igor went for the pin but was attacked by Ernie Ladd. Ladd and G worked over Igor as referee Tommy Young called for the bell at 7:10 and disqualified Master G for outside interference.

The two continued to attack Igor until Mark Youngblood came out and fought both off until the mighty Pole got back on his feet. As G and Ladd fled, Igor gave Youngblood an unexpected kiss and then waved to the fans.

Mark Youngblood joined Rich Landrum at ringside and said all G has to do is get in the ring with him and he will beat him for the Television Title.

BREAK 3 ================00000============================

Harley Davidson comes out. He says if The Iron Sheik wants to be “messin’ “ with him…then he is “gonna give him a whoopin’ like he aint never had before.” He says he doesn’t like Sheik putting him and America down and he owes it to all the fans to shut him up and get that belt.

Paul Jones is in the ring about to face, Golden Boy Grey but Roddy Piper and Larry Zbyszko show up. Piper hands Grey what looks like a ten dollar bill and tells him not to spend it all in one place. Grey bolts and Piper issues a challenge.

“You know, I usually don’t like being mean to midgets, but in your case Mr. Paul Jones, I’ll make an exception. You see, Mr. Jones, I think it’s time you faced some real competition, like my close personal friend Larry Zbyszko. Mr. Zbyszko is something of a legend killer, and even though you aren’t a legend, Mr. Jones… He is happy to take care of you anyway. “ Piper, standing infront of Jones, gives a deadpan smile while Zbyszko  yells in the background, “C’mon Jones, what are you chicken!”

Jones snatches the mic away from Piper.

“Piper, I’ll tell you what. Since you are too scared to face me in the ring, I’ll face your little lawn jockey over there, Zbyszko.”

The referee stands between Piper and Jones as Sandy Scott comes out and makes the match official.

MATCH 4 – PAUL JONES versus LARRY ZBYSZKO w/ RODDY PIPER.
This match is a very even match as both men go back and forth for the first five minutes. At about six minutes in Zbyszko throws Jones out of the ring. Piper goes over and tries to grab him, but Paul will have none of it and slugs Piper before getting back into the ring. Piper irate on the outside screams over to Landrum , “What did I do?”  Inside the ring, Zbyszko has gotten the advantage and tries to suplex Jones. Paul reverses and brings Larry hard to the mat. Jones then clamps on the Indian Deathlock and Zbyszko is in a world of trouble.

This brings out Hulk Hogan and Buddy Rogers. Rogers and Hogan distract the referee while Piper grabs Zbyszko by the arm and pulls him and Jones closer to the ropes. When referee Sonny Fargo sees what is going on he calls for Jones to break the hold. Jones keeps the hold on telling Fargo what happened. Fargo pleads with Jones to release the hold, Jones still doesn’t release it. Finally, Fargo disqualifies Jones at 7:07 for not releasing the hold. Piper tries to pull Zbyszko out of the ring but he is locked with Jones. Rogers and Hogan go to interfere, and this brings out Magnum Terry Allen, Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood.

Piper gets Zbyszko and Jones untangled and the two sides eyeball each other. Zbyszko, Piper, Hogan and Rogers on one side, Jones, Steamboat, Youngblood and Allen are on the other in a staredown. Finally, Sandy Scott comes out and orders Rogers and his crew to the back. Verbal sparring between the two sides follow as Steamboat and Youngblood go over to Rich Landrum who welcomes the NWA World Tag Team Champions.

Steamboat says they will be watching the next match very carefully as The Andersons face Johnny Weaver and Brickhouse Brown. Steamboat says in one form or another he knows they will be facing The Andersons really soon.

BREAK 4 ========000000========================

Gene, Ole and Arn Anderson come out. Ole says it doesn’t matter to him if it is for the Atlantic States Title or not, the chance to send a message to Steamboat and Youngblood by destroying Weaver and Brown is good enough for him.

Non-title match:
MATCH 5 – JOHNNY WEAVER & BRICKHOUSE BROWN versus OLE & ARN ANDERSON w/GENE ANDERSON

When Arn and Brown are in the ring the match is fast paced with Brickhouse getting the edge in most cases. Once Ole gets in the ring, the match slows and he grinds it out on Brown. Brown isn’t able to get much offense against Ole but is able to make the tag to Weaver. Johnny has more success against Ole and pretty much dominates Arn once the youngest Anderson is in the ring.

The battle goes on back and forth until Brown gets trapped in the Anderson’s corner at about 8minutes in. Brown is able to escape and tag in Weaver who takes it to both Andersons. When Gene gets on the ring apron, Johnny has a gift for him too. The show goes off the air with Weaver snaring Arn in the sleeper hold.

Great dialogue form Piper. Like the fact that Race is facing both sides of the fence with McDaniel and Hogan. Good showing by Igor but I can't wait for Youngblood to get at Wells. Shiek and Davidson is working better than I thought it would. Jones continues to a force and Piper better watch out for him. Weaver locking up Arn with that sleeper would sure have me turning back in.

Good stuff.
