AWA Mid-South TV 1-12-83. Race is back. PP debuts

AWA Mid-South Championship 1-12-83)  
at the Irish McNeil Boy's Club in Sherveport, La.  
 
The show opens with a shot of Junkyard Dog unmasking the imposter Stagger Lee on Dec. 22 in the Superdome then fads to video action clips of Mid-South stars North American Heavyweight Champ Akira Maeda, the Mid-South Tag Team Champs The Rogeau Brothers, The Spoiler & 'Maniac' Mark Lewis w/mgr. 'Playboy' Gary Hart, Junkyard Dog, 'Dirty' Dick Murdoch, "Killer" Karl Kox, Mid-South Jr. H. Champ Hiro Matsuda w/mgr. Rock Hunter, Mr. Wrestling Tim Woods, 'Rip' Tyler & 'Outlaw' Eddie Sullivan w/mgr. Percy Pringle III, Professor Tora Tanaka with manager Rock Hunter, Mid-South Ladies Champ Sherri Martel, sensational Tom Pritchard and AWA World Champs Jerry 'King' Lawler, tag team champs Jesse Ventura & Adrian Adonis and jr. champ Tiger Mask before the Mid-South logo hits the screen as we fade to the studio desk with the announcing team of "Cowboy" Bill Watts and Boyd Pierce.
 
Bill & Boyd tell the fans they have a lot of excitement on today's show including a match from New Orleans between Mid-South Ladies Champ Sherri Martel against Joyce Grable taped Jan. 3. Maretl rallies to pin Grable with a roll up.
 
Back at the desk, 'Handsome' Harley Race makes an unexpected appearance. Race says he heard what the so-called new AWA World's Heavyweight Champ Jerry 'King' Lawler said last week about Mid-South. Race says with Lawler holding the title, he is looking to get a title shot at him. Race says he understand Dog, Murdoch, Kox, Spoiler and Tanaka are some of the top heavyweights. And Maeda is the North American Heavyweight Champ. Well Mr. Madea won't be champ for long. Harley says when he gets that belt, he'll take the AWA World's Title off Lawler.
 
We go to the ring for the first match..
 
 First Match. Single Match. 1-fall 10-minute time limit.'Dirty' Dick Murdoch whipped 'Outlaw' Butch Beckler with the brainbuster at the 2:43 mark.
 
After the match, Murdoch joins Watts & Pierce at the desk to talk about the problems he has been having with Bendecik Arnold 'Killer' Karl Kox. Dick is supporting a huge bandage over his right eye. Dick sayss that Mid-South isn't big enough for the both of them and one is going to leave the area. Murdoch says it won't be him.

Second Match.  Four Man Tag Team Match. 1-fall 10-minute time limit. Tom Jones & 'Porkchops' Cash knocked off Killer Kark Krupp & The Magic Dragon when Cash nailed Krupp with a headbutt for the pin. (7:59).

Third Match. Non-title single match. .AWA Mid-South Jr. Heavyweight Champ Hiro Matsuda w/mgr. Rock Hunter sleepred Mike Statlling at the 8:55 mark.

Fourth Match. Junkyard Dog pinned 'Apache' Bull Ramos following the big thump. (6:19).

Before the start of the next matach, manager Percy Pringle III says the Los Infernales have left for another promotion but he is bringing in a tag team he knows real well. Get ready to meet the next Mid-South Tag Team Champs.  
 
Fifth Match. Four Man Tag Team Match. 'Rip' Tyler & 'Outlaw' Eddie Sullivan w/mgr. Percy Pringle III defeated Dennis Stamps & Gary Young when Tyler hit Stamps with  a leg drop. (8:55).

Back at the desk, Bill & Boyd run down today's action and remind the fans to tune in next week for more AWA Mid-South Championship Wrestling.

Sullivan and Tyler under Pringle works for me. Race could spell trouble for a lot of guys in Mid-South. Murdoch and Kox continues to roll. Ramos and JYD sure would have been intense, if not pretty.
