Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling taped 1 23 83 at WRAL Studios in Raleigh, NC for syndication on various stations in Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and eastern Tennessee weekend of Jan 25th thru the 27th. Hosts: Bob Caudle and David Crockett. NWA Representative is Sandy Scott. Bob Caudle welcomes everyone to the show and David Crockett is about ready to burst with excitement and blurts out that Wahoo McDaniel has defeated Harley Race for the United States Heavyweight Championship. With that Wahoo comes out.
Wahoo calls Race one of the toughest men he has ever faced. He says he knows he is in the spotlight of guys like Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper, Ernie Ladd and The Iron Sheik. Wahoo says he has never shied away from a fight and says he looks forward to proving what kind of champion.
On their way to the ring, Paul Jones and Magnum Terry Allen stop by and shake hands with The Chief, both say they are glad he is the US Champion.
Allen and Jones get in the ring and the camera goes back to Wahoo who says it’s good to have allies like Paul and Terry. Wahoo adds he thinks Allen has an incredible future ahead of him.
MATCH 1 – MAGNUM TERRY ALLEN & PAUL JONES defeat MR. X1 & MR. X2 in 5:33 when Allen pins X2 with a belly to belly suplex. Allen and Jones go over to Caudle and Crockett. Jones says the Elite doesn’t seem so elite with Wahoo as US Champion. He vows to get rid of Buddy Rogers and his crew.
Allen tells Jones to leave Roddy Piper to him. He says Piper has been using ever cheap shot to attack him but Terry says soon Piper will have to face him one on one.
Jones quips, “Piper’s gonna need more than a skirt!” BREAK 1 ===============00000========================= Bob Caudle introduces the new Atlantic States Tag Team Champions and outcomes Ole and Arn Anderson accompanied by Gene Anderson.
Arn boasts,” We said we would get these belts and we are now the champions. Weaver and Brickface couldn’t stop us…and no one else will either!”
Ole Anderson takes it from there, “Are you listening Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood? Are you listening Paul Jones and Terry Allen? Are you listening, those two punks, what do they call themselves, The Ricky and Robert Express? These belts belong to the Andersons!” MATCH 2 – OLE & ARN ANDERSON defeat KEITH LARSON & DON SERRANO at 6:32 when Arn pins Serrano following a facebuster. Mark Youngblood comes out. He says NWA Television Champion Master G is ducking him. He says he has pinned G after the 10minute time limit expired and now he cannot seem to get another title shot. Youngblood promises when he faces G again…he will win the belt.
BREAK 2 ========== 00000========================== The Elite comes out with Buddy Rogers guiding the way. Following him are Roddy Piper, Hulk Hogan and Larry Zbyszko. Rogers says he is turning his
“killers” loose in the Mid-Atlantic and soon they will dominate Wrestling just as he will soon dominate the NWA.
Hogan says domination is what he does best and soon he will beat the old Indian for the US Title and use it to win the World Title.
Roddy Piper fake grins at Hogan as if he has something to say to him, but with a glance from Rogers, he quickly goes in another direction.
“You see Paul Jones, you can talk about my kilt and call it a skirt all you want, but brother, you’ll find out I am all man! I guess every boy needs a dog, and you are Allen’s.”
“Terry Allen…oh excuse me, Magnum Terry Allen!!! Yes, need to remind people how manly you are, don’t we, boy! Let me tell you something Mr. TV Star Wannabe, I don’t need a reminder of how manly I am, I look in the mirror every day, heh heh uh. I look in the mirror every day, jack and you know what I see? I see Roddy Piper, All man, Roddy Piper. And I don’t need to surround myself with people to help me!” Piper stops for a second and looks around him seeing Rogers, Hogan and Zbyszko, then continues.
“Unless I want to! You see, Mr. Manly Man Magnum Terry Allen, you do one or two things in life, you either fly with the eagles or scratch with the chickens…and I aint scratchin’ nobody, jack!” Larry Zbyszko says his main concern is title belts. He says Buddy Rogers has assured him of Mid Atlantic gold around his waist very soon.
MATCH 3 – RICKY JOHNSON defeats FLYING PHIL WATSON in 8:32 in an impressive match by both men with Johnson winning when he catches Watson with a wicked elbow off the ropes. Midway through the match, Ernie Ladd and NWA Television Champion Master G came to ringside and cheered Johnson on in his match.
Ladd and G shake hands with Johnson after the match. Ladd tells Crockett, Johnson is the kind of wrestler he likes to see in the ring,
“young, energetic and aggressive!” G says he is not ducking Mark Youngblood, “It’s just that Youngblood really hasn’t beaten anyone and, well, seriously, he isn’t that good! So it’s actually to his benefit he doesn’t wrestle me because I would only embarrass him in front all of his high school age girlfriends.” Ladd and G have a good laugh before walking off.
BREAK 3 =============00000============================== Mid Atlantic Champion Iron Sheik comes out and says Harley Davidson is just a big ugly hillbilly who has no business being in the ring with him. He says he will destroy Davidson and will show why Iran is superior to the United States.
The fans cheer as Davidson comes out and goes over to the Iron Sheik.
“Now hold on there, Sheiky Baby!”
“I am not Sheiky Baby, I am the ahIron Sheik! You are American Dog! Mangy American Dog! Just like all of these stupid, mangy, ugly fans out here.”
Davidson: “Now you hold on there one minute, Sheik. I don’t care who you are, you can say whatever you want about me, but don’t be bad mouthin’ my people!”
Sheik: “Your ahpeople are dogs!”
Davidson: “Why you…” Davidson grabs the Sheik and the two pull and tug on each other, until they are separated by other wrestlers. Davidson goes to the ring. Sandy Scott, who came out during the tussle, orders Sheik to the back.
MATCH 4 – HARLEY DAVIDSON defeats GOLDEN BOY GREY by disqualification when at 1:35 The Iron Sheik jumped into the ring and blindsided Davidson. The assault lasted for several minutes with The Sheik in control and getting the big man in the camel clutch. Several wrestler with Scott came from the back to break it up but as the show went to break, Sheik had Davidson trapped.
BREAK 4 ================0000=================== Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson come out. Morton tells Caudle, their goal is the Atlantic States Tag Team Titles and soon The Andersons will know who they are!
MATCH 5 – THE ROCK-N-ROLL EXPRESS: ROBERT GIBSON & RICKY MORTON defeat TONY ZANE & RED DOG LANE in 5:50 with a doubledrop kick on Zane. Roddy Piper comes out with a Virginia flag. He says he knows,
“Manly Man comes from some chicken shack in Virginia". He then proceeds to
burn the Virginia flag right there on the set and throws it into a nearby trashcan all the while disparaging Allen, Virginians, and southern people in general.
Allen rushes the set but is held back by Sandy Scott, Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson. Piper is in his element as he taunts Allen and then grins as the Caudle closes the show.

Landrum and Weaver welcome everyone to the show then Weaver steps aside and Rich brings in the new Atlantic States Tag Team Champions, Ole and Arn Anderson with Gene Anderson.
Arn Anderson: “Yeah Weaver, step aside and let THE CHAMPIONS walk through. I can tell you, Rich Landrum, it feels mighty good to be champion!” Ole Anderson: “You know, Weaver, we tried to warn you, not because we like you, but because we use to respect you, but you didn’t listen and now you are an ex-champion. Just like Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood will be when they put the NWA World Tag Team Titles on the line against us.” As Ole is talking Brickhouse Brown and King Cobra come out. Brown says he wants The Andersons in the ring right now. Weaver walks over and tries to calm Brown down, but he and Cobra are fired up.
Ole Anderson quips, “This is Déjà vu all over again. Haven’t we seen this movie before? Ok, Big Mouth, if this is what you and your new friend want this, this is what you’ll get!” With that The Andersons will leave for the ring. Brown tells Landrum and Weaver he and Cobra are ready.
Weaver tells Rich, “I don’t like this!” as Brown and Cobra go to the ring. MATCH 1 – OLE & ARN ANDERSON w/GENE ANDERSON defeat BRICKHOUSE BROWN & KING COBRA in 7:50 when Cobra was knocked unconscious outside the ring when he was rammed into the ring post by Gene and Brown was held in an armbar by Ole in the ring, following a knee to the shoulder off the top turnbuckle by Arn. Weaver threw in the towel for Brown to prevent further injury and end the match. The Andersons strode away triumphantly knowing the damage had already been done.
The Iron Sheik comes out and asks for someone to clean up the debris from ringside (meaning Brown and Cobra). Sheik says he has destroyed Harley Davidson as Landrum shows the attack from Mid Atlantic Wrestling. Sheik says
“the big dumb hillbilly will never show his face around here again.” BREAK 1 =================00000=========================== New United States Heavyweight Champion Wahoo McDaniel comes out and tell Rich Landrum, Hulk Hogan runs his mouth but what has he accomplished. He says, Hogan thinks Rogers will lead him to success, but he has seen what Hogan is made of and the Chief says the Hulk has a long way to go if he wants to be world champion.
MATCH 2 – WAHOO MCDANIEL defeats TONY ZANE in 5:10 with a chop off the ropes. A tape is shown of Roddy Piper burning the Virginia flag and when the tape ends, Magnum Terry Allen and Paul Jones have joined Landrum at ringside. Allen is furious.
“Roddy Piper you think you are cute. You come out here and degrade me, the fans and the whole Mid-Atlantic area, Virginia in particular. Let me tell you something, Piper, when our paths cross again, you want to talk about dogs, I will rub your nose in the dirt all over the south and stuff your face in some Chesapeake Bay mud!” Paul Jones says, “leave it to a guy in a skirt to take out his…. frustrations on a flag instead of facing the man himself!” Jones says if Hogan, Zbyszko or Rogers want to step into as well, he will have Allen’s back.
BREAK 2 ============0000================== The Elite, Buddy Rogers, Hulk Hogan, Larry Zbyszko and Roddy Piper come out. Rogers says Wahoo, Jones and Allen need to watch themselves because “The Elite is here to stay and dominate.”
Larry Zbyszko says Paul Jones didn’t learn his lesson last week when they wrestled. He says he sees gold in the future for The Elite.
Hogan says “United States Gold” is in his future when he faces Wahoo McDaniel. He calls McDaniel a coward who ran from him in The AWA and is running from him here in the Mid-Atlantic area.
Roddy Piper: “So little Maggie T A is mad at me. Did I upset you by showing everyone how worthless you and this area is? You wanna play in the mud…well that doesn’t surprise me, brother…Paul Jones is starting to look like he is ready to become cold cuts! RP doesn’t play in the mud… he stomps in the mud, jack and when I get you in the ring, Manly Man Allen, I am gonna stomp a mudhole in you!” Piper then pulls out the flags of North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia, and Tennessee then says,
“One down, four to go!” as he sneers into the camera.
MATCH 3 – LARRY ZBYSZKO defeated KEITH LARSON in a very competitive match in 7:43. Johnny Weaver says he doesn’t like how things are looking here in the Mid-Atlantic area. He says he is glad Wahoo is the United States Champion and adds it means a lot having him the number one champion in this area. He says The Andersons are another story. He tells Rich, he always thought at this point in his career he would be settling into the backstage aspects of the business and enjoying working the television broadcasts. Weaver says now, he feels he owes the area a debt and the best way to pay it off is getting rid of The Andersons.
BREAK 4 =====00000===== Mark Youngblood wants Master G and The NWA Television Title. He says his G is ducking him but soon he will face him. He says G cannot run forever.
MATCH 4 – MARK YOUNGBLOOD versus RICKY JOHNSON w/ERNIE LADD & MASTER G at ringside. This turns into a fierce match-up as both men make it hard hitting and high impact. Youngblood wins it at 9:13 with a suplex into a bridge. It is obvious both men are exhausted as the show goes to break.
BREAK 4 ========0000==== When we come back from break Ernie Ladd and Master G are with David Crockett as Ricky Johnson is standing behind them. G shouts at Youngblood as he is leaving the ringside area.
The sweating and exhausted Youngblood walks over.
Master G: “Youngblood, you want a match for this television title, I will give it to you right now!”
Youngblood’s eyes get as wide as saucers.
“Right now, Youngblood, if you think you are man enough!”
David Crockett: “That’s hardly fair, he just wrestled!”
Ladd: “Shut up, Crockett! Do you want it or not, Boy?”
Youngblood: “Yes, I want it!”
G: “One condition, if you don’t win the belt in this match, you never get another title shot!”
Crockett: “This is insane”
Ladd: “Keep your nose out of this Mr. TV Announcer!” Youngblood agrees to it and gets in the ring.
Ladd looks over a G and mumbles,
“We’ve got ‘em!” NWA Television Title: MATCH 5 – MASTER G versus MARK YOUNGBLOOD If Youngblood doesn’t win the belt he can never get another title shot. Master G dominates the exhausted Youngblood for much of the match. Every time, G went to put away Youngblood, Mark found the energy to bounce back. Late in the match, G nails Youngblood with a flying shoulder block and goes for the pin. Youngblood puts his foot on the ropes at two. G whips Mark in the ropes but Mark counters with a flying body press and nearly pins G, but G rolls through and is able to snare Youngblood in a small package. As the referee makes his count, Mark shifts his weight and has G pinned. Referee Sonny Fargo counts G’s shoulders to the mat at 9:00.
Mark Youngblood wins the NWA Television Title!!! Ladd and Johnson get ready to rush the ring until they see, Magnum Terry Allen, Wahoo McDaniel, Paul Jones, The Rock n Roll Express, Tracy Smothers come out and celebrate in the ring with Mark!
