Championship Wrestling from Florida presents: Live Professional Wrestling 1/21/83 from the Bayfront Center in St. Petersburg, Florida *All matches sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance* Opening Contest: 1 fall with a 15 minute time limit - Perro Aguayo defeats Pete Doherty with a sunset flip. Pete looked like he was going to earn his first victory in Florida as he was setting up for a big back drop. Aguayo instead went for the flip and took down Pete for a 1-2-3. After the match, Doherty goes ballistic, stomping and kicking at the ropes. Second Contest: 1 fall with a 15 minute time limit - “Bulldog” Bob Brown defeats Omar Atlas with a pile driver. Third Contest: 1 fall with a 15 minute time limit - Kelly Kiniski wrestles Florida TV Champion Brett Sawyer to a time limit draw. Kiniski looked set to pin the champion when the bell sounded. Fourth Contest: 1 fall under brass knuckles rules - In yet another brutal encounter, Kevin Sullivan defeats Jake Roberts via referee’s stoppage when it is ruled by referee Jack Terry that Roberts has lost too much blood. Neither man gave an inch in the match. Terry was barely able to keep order in the match with multiple warnings given to each man. But with each man wearing the crimson mask, Sullivan kept pounding away on a large gash just above the left eye of Roberts. Finally, Jack had to step in and end the match to keep Roberts from losing his sight in the eye. Intermission: It is announced that next week in the Tampa Armory, the Southern Heavyweight Champion Greg Valentine will defend his title against Kevin Sullivan. Fifth Contest: 1-fall with a 60 minute time limit for the Florida Heavyweight Title. - Butch Reed defeats Southern Heavyweight Champion Greg Valentine to retain the Florida belt after catching a staggering Valentine with a tremendous power slam. Valentine tried every trick and then some that he’s used in Florida to try and take Reed off his base, but Butch pounded right back at the former World Champion. But with Reed slumped in a corner, Valentine charged but missed and got the slam for the pin. Sixth Contest: For the Florida Tag Team Titles – 25 man two ring double elimination battle royal (To be eliminated, a participant must first be thrown from one ring into the other, then over the top rope to the arena floor. Brian Blair and Steve Regal also tumble into ring two, followed by Pete Doherty. Pete is so stunned by the shot he took from Jonathan Boyd, he fails to notice the Missing Link behind him until he’s scooped up and thrown to the floor of the Bayfront Center. Fifteen minutes in: (ring 1) Barr, George (ring 2) Missing Link, Sweetan, Brown, Boyd, Graham, D. Malenko, J. Malenko It is now in ring two where the battle really seems to be kicking over as Sweetan and Brown brawl with the Missing Link, while Mike Graham and Jonathan Boyd pound away. The Malenko Brothers dump out the old Bulldog while Boyd dumps out Mike Graham. Joe and Dean then start on Bob Sweetan only to become yet more victims of the Missing Link. Now, over in ring 1, we see Barr and George simply watching the eliminations with glee. They then turn to one another and, play a game of paper rock scissors? Barr seems to be the loser as he steps over the top rope and then charges at the Missing Link, and dumping him over the top. Boyd tries to dump Sweetan, but Barr charges again and Sweetan dips down, pulling the rope. Out tumble both Boyd and Barr and the bell tolls. Mike George is in shock! Winners of the match, and NEW Florida Tag Team Champions: Mike George and “the Canadian Bruiser” Bob Sweetan
