Here it goes....

Stampede... the REAL wrestling organization in all of Canada issues a challenge to that upstart MLW in Toronto. Ontario thinks it has control of the nation but Stampede is here to prove that when you think Canadian wrestling you think Stampede.

Date: Sunday April 28th.
Venue: You pick....we can go to you since Stampede was shown in Ontario on different stations throughout the years, or we can ask Matt to use Manitoba since it is neither promoters and in between us.
Rules: No borrowing roster, just world champions, no joint traveling guys. Other than that, your roster Vs mine.
Stakes: Bragging rights over Canada and that extra draft pick for participating...

What do ya say?

Looks like Stampede has made Toronto run far away from the battle of Canada. I guess that shows the fans what the NWA really is made of.

We have a VTR!

It's Lord Athol Layton, and he seems chaffed!

LAL:  "Tut-tut, acting in such a COMMON way will do you no good!  We have, indeed, received your telegram, and after having JUST brewed a pot of tea...ah, yes, here it is.  Just what I would expect from such upstarts, and I see the machinations of that Verne Gagne all over your proposal.  Mr. McMahon HAS authorized me as his reprentative in the colonies, to make a response.  So, rather than attempting to anger me further with you so-called witticisms, I should like to suggest that you keep an eye on your post-box.  I am SURE the Pony Express will have my response to you soon enough.  CHEERIO!"

END VTR

You mean there was a reply? Sorry, I was just so used to those boys from Ontario running and ducking. No wonder they fit in the NWA. In the AWA, we wrestle and fight, not run away and hide.

The battle for Canadian bragging rights, right in your home town of Toronto, Ontario.

Date: Sunday April 28th.
Venue: You - Maple Leaf Gardens, Me - CNE Coliseum
Rules: No borrowing roster, just world champions, no joint traveling guys. Other than that, your roster Vs mine.
Stakes: Bragging rights over Canada and that extra draft pick for participating (since we both get one for playing along, lol)

Stampede will be ready. I hope Toronto will be.

It's GO TIME for Stampede and Maple Leaf!

Thanks, NWAMike, all details are hunky and dorey.  This is the LAST polite message on the subject you'll see from me.  I have sent folks to the hospital with whiplash once I start the trash talking.

PLUS I have the SUNshine Girls on my side.  LOL

You're on.  World Class needs to be prepared to know the feeling of Mid-South's size 13 shoes against its buttocks.

So Florida will try and polish up some AwA cred by challenging WWC in the Bahamas.

Unfortunately this will have to wait until Summer. April is when I have my finals for uni, then move back home and look for work for the summer. Sorry.

I read "The Cowboy And The Cross" last month. From that, I learned that if we had sent Bill and Danny to the Bay of Pigs, nobody would know who Fidel Castro was. While Bill is in Texarkana, the "Town That Dreaded Sundown Killer" will probably be hiding under his bed, shaking in terror. Roll Eyes

I'm thinking a WAR between the War Cards is in order, less these cowboy type references don't dry up right quick!  If you want a REAL cowboy, you head to Maple Leaf where you find Randolph Scott!  AND as a bonus, you'll meet the newest tag team in the either alliance.

I'm sure skin-flint stubble-jumper Stu Hart will come up with something...maybe let his genius kid Bruce promote their show!

I met an 80 year old Danny Hodge two years ago and he darn near CRUSHED my hand.  He was a really cool and a great guy, and all of the stories I have heard about him are true.  I am thinking if he was in his prime now, he would be like George Saint Pierre or Anderson Silva, arguably the baddest man on the planet.

I see Calgary has RE-signed Bernie "Athol Foley" Wright again.  Very sly, did someone tell you I needed another "Athole"?  MINE is WORSHIPPED, yours might get an unpleasant chant if he shows...

Like the typical Ontarioian...you are confused. There is no Athol Foley in Stampede. Leave it to someone from Ontario to get the names mixed up. YEs, you are correct, we have British Legend Bernie Wright.... no Athol. But this is just the first time, but not the last time you Ontario guys will get things wrong. Another example would be the popularity of the NWA. Completely way off base there. Way lower than you are expecting. I mean, even Ontario fans are aware the AWA is where to go to watch wrestling.

Good stuff, Mike!  Looks like Stampede is buckling down & getting ready for a fight!  Just read and reviewed a good post - like the BC "expansion" inferred.
