“Portland Special” Sports Arena Portland, OR 1/29/83 Don Owen opens the show. Owen, “We're really happy to bring you another 'Portland Special'. We know you like to see the big stars go at it. The eight man relay team match is going to be exciting. I know everyone wants to see those guys go at it. Let's not waste any more time.” Opening Match Tiny Anderson vs. Kevin Kelly This is a rematch from television a few weeks ago. The two big men battle like huge bulls. The end comes when Kelly slaps on the bearhug, and Anderson submits. Winner-Kevin Kelly Second Match Christopher Colt vs. Buck Zumhofe The exciting Zumhofe returns to the Northwest. Colt takes the fight to the Rock and Roller. Colt punches, kicks and chokes. The Portland crowd gets behind Zumhofe. Buck rallies. Buck uses a sunset flip to win the match. Winner-Buck Zumhofe “Playboy” Buddy Rose and the Army join Don Owen in the ring. Owen, “With me are Buddy Rose and the Army. Rose, you've been sticking your nose into everyone's business. Tonight you're all in the ring and the other team is tough.” Rose, “The best thing about beating up on those four losers is the look on your face after it happens. You hate me, and I like that because I hate you too! We're taking care of those losers and I'm going to enjoy every minute of it!” Third Match Sheik Ali Hasan vs. Steve Pardee Pardee waits in the ring. The Sheik comes down the aisle. He wears a keffiyeh and a burnoose. He climbs into the ring. His trunks say “OIL” across the back. As both me wait for the bell, Hasan reaches into his tights and opens his hands. A fireball appears. This man is going to be interesting. The bell rings and Pardee takes the fight to the Sheik. The young man from San Francisco looks good. The Sheik begins to rally. He is vicious and aggressive. Pardee is on the retreat. Hasan traps Steve in the Camel Clutch and forces a submission. A very impressive debut. Winner-Sheik Ali Hasan Billy Jack, Jimmy Snuka, Stan Stasiak and Matt Borne join Owen in the ring. Owen, “Guys, the fans are behind you 100% you and they want to see you shut up Rose for good.” Stasiak, “We want to shut up all of them. Rose is a blowhard, but so are the others. Billy and I have two great partners, and we are going to give the fans what they want.” Semi-Final Rocky Della Serra and Dean Ho vs. The New Zealand Sheepherders The new team of Della Serra and Ho have been very impressive. The Sheepherders are going to be challenged. Ho and Butch Miller open the match. They battle it out and Ho holds his own. He whips Miller into the ropes and slaps on the sleeper. This brings Luke Williams in to break up the hold. Della Serra follows and we have a four way brawl. Referee Sandy Barr gets things sorted out and the match continues. Della Serra tags in and the young Canadian is a house afire. He chases both Kiwis from the ring. They confer and return to the ring. The match continues to get rougher and rougher. Finally all four men are in the ring brawling. Barr does his best, but he is forced to disqualify both teams. Result-Double Disqualification Main Event Eight Man Tag Team Match Buddy Rose, Rip Oliver, Ed Wiskoski and the Assassin vs. Billy Jack, Stan Stasiak, Jimmy Snuka and Matt Borne Don Owen has the mike. Owen, “We don't have four-sided relay team matches very often. They're exciting, but they're dangerous too. I want you fans to stay in your seats and cheer, don't come up to ringside, it's not safe.” Referee Sandy Barr has the unenviable task of refereeing this match. All four men stare at one another. There is no way this will not be a brawl. The bell rings and it's vs. Rose. Snuka tells Rose to tag Oliver. Rip hesitates, and the crowd gets even louder. Oliver tags in and it's Snuka vs. the Champion. Oliver tries to match Snuka's strength, but he can't. The man from Fiji takes over. Oliver tries to tag out, but his partners are hesitant. Finally Wiskoski tags in. he fares no better. Snuka tags in Stasiak and the Northwest legend goes to work. The Assassin tags in and he works Stasiak into the corner. Now the Army goes to work. Billy Jack tries several times to save his partner, but each time, Barr stops him and allows the Army to do more damage. Stasiak is able to escape and tag in Billy Jack. The powerhouse from Portland goes to work. He takes on the entire Army and chases them from the ring. Billy stands in the ring and the crowd goes crazy. The Assassin tags in Rose and Billy tags in Matt Borne. They lock up and Borne takes over. He out-wrestles Rose and the “Playboy” is frustrated. The match continues and all four men end up in the ring. While Barr is trying to sort things out, Rose and Wiskoksi use the Spike Piledriver on Borne. Rose covers him and Barr turns and counts the fall. The Army is victorious Winners-Buddy Rose, Rip Oliver, Ed Wiskoski and the Assassin
